Indian Star wrestler Yogeshwar Dutt was forced to pull out of the World Championship in Las Vegas after being unfit to compete in the Championship. Yogeshwar Dutt travelled with the Indian contingent with some major concerns over his fitness after undergoing a knee surgery earlier this year. The doctors at the Championship found that Yogeshwar is not 100 per cent fit and advised him to withdraw from the men’s 65 KG freestyle category.

The WFI said about Yogeshwar Dutt dump from the World Championship that 32-year-old bronze medal winner at London Olympics in 2012 had assured the federation that he was in good shape and would be able to participate in the tournament. The officials said that before leaving for the USA he had fully recovered from the knee surgery and was more than 90 per cent fit. He was expected to be fit for his bout which was scheduled for 10th September. But since there is a chance that he might cause further damage to his knee if he takes part in it has been decided to pull him out of the tournament. He does not have a minor injury; he has been advised against participating in the World Championship. And since there are four more qualification tournaments left before the Olympics Dutt should focus on future competition.

The officials of WFI wanted to send a replacement for Yogeshwar Dutt but the plans were dashed because the delay in paper works of US Embassy. India would have replaced Yogeshwar with Amit Dhankar in 65 KG but the embassy did not give any appointment date for visa interview.

It is a big blow for the Indian contingent but also gives an chance for other young wrestlers to perform well for India.
