Yuki Bhambri is on his way to winning his second Challenger level singles title for the season, as he advanced to the finals of Shanghai open as his opponent withdrew due to a back problem yesterday the 12th September in Shanghai. In a country with over a billion populations very few Single Tennis players competing in International tennis, it is no mean achievement.

Fourth-seeded Bhambri was leading 6-3, 3-0 in the semifinals against Russian Danhill Medvedev decided to withdraw from the contest. Bhambri had won Karachi Challenger. He was a runner-up in Delhi and Samarkand.

In the first round, Yuki Bhambri had defeated Zhang of China in straight sets 6-2. In the second round, he beat another Chinese opponent Zhang in a keenly contested fight but Bhambri won the match 7-5, 6-3. With this win, he entered into the quarter-finals.

In the quarterfinals, he defeated fourth-seeded Australian Thompson 6-2, 6-2 which lasted for one hour and 11 minutes. It was an excellent performance by the Indian player.

Let’s hope that Yuki Bhambri wins the title and bring back laurels for the country which will be a big achievement for Indian tennis.

Bhambri has done well in this tournament so far and hopes to continue his form in the finals too.
