Gianluigi Buffon Re-signs With His Former Club Juventus

After a one year stint at French champions Paris Saint-Germain, Gianluigi Buffon returns to Juventus on a free transfer.

The Old lady welcomed Gianluigi Buffon who spent 17 years at Turin before joining PSG for another spell as the understudy of Wojciech Szczesny’s. After his move was confirmed Buffon seemed very happy and said  resigning with Juve are ‘happiest and beautiful days of my life’.

Buffon won the league one and Trophee des Champions  during his one year at PSG, playing as the number one choice for the  French club. However, he refused to extend his contract and decided to move back to his old club

On completing his move, Buffon said : “I am happy to have returned home and to have the opportunity again to embrace you and to be embraced by you.

“This is one of the happiest and beautiful days of my life. Today I received the confirmation that life is incredible and it’s always worth dreaming.”

Silvano Martina, Buffon’s agent told that he has snubbed big offers from Premier League to resign with the Bianconeri.

“Buffon has always made choices with his heart and never for his wallet. You can compare his return home to that of a husband who after an escapade can’t wait to hug his wife again.

Juve are aiming high this season, as they look forward to win the Champions League with their new manager Maurizio Sarri and talisman Cristiano Ronaldo. They’ve made enough signings this window to have a perfect squad depth for competing for all the trophies in the league and a European triumph.

Afrter already signing Arsenal midfielders, Aaron Ramsey and Adrien Rabiot for free deals , the Old lady only lacked depth in midfield last season, and they look to have filled the void by the signing of Rabiot and Ramsey. Juve have also signed left back Luca Pellegrini from AS Roma in this transfer window and are also heavily linked with a move for 19 year old, Ajax centre back, Matthias De Ligt.

Gianluigi Buffon To Be Dropped For Next Two Ligue 1 Games

Accoridng to PSG manager Thomas Tuchel, the newly joined goal-keeper Gianluigi Buffon  is set to be dropped for the next two Ligue 1 games.

Buffon joined PSG in the summer transfer window.

The manager wants to do something different and he will be playing Alphonse Areola to give him a shot. He has played his match in May and Tuchel believes he must play.

Tuchel said in a press conference:
“Alphonse will play against Angers and Nimes. After that, we will see. We think it’s important for Alphonse to play. His last match was in May. He must play. Gigi had three exceptional, magnificent matches. I do not like leaving him out. I do not like making long-term decisions. It is important during this preparatory stage that Alphonse adapts to the team. I like complicated decisions. I must make a choice and I like that.”

Buffon joined the club as a free agent on a one-year deal. They started their Ligue 1 campaign with a 3-1 win over Caen  last weekend.

Meanwhile, Tuchel also revealed that dinson Cavani could make his first Ligue 1 appearance of the season. He missed much of the Parsian’s pre-season due to an injury sustained on World Cup. However, the manager is yet to decide how he can fit Neymar, Kylian Mbappe and Angel Di Maria into his team.

“We have four main attackers, Do not forget Angel Di Maria, who is top class. They are four key players, each with different qualities. I will not say if Edinson will start, or what Kylian’s position will be. Edinson has been working hard for two weeks and he is in top shape. We will decide together. Mbappe has to get used to playing several positions; there are several possibilities. He will play as an attacker.”

Mbappe has been recently given the iconoc number 7 jersey. The expectations will be big after his exceptional performance in the World Cup in Russia.

Mbappe has Something More than the Others – Gianluigi Buffon

After a fantastic performance in the FIFA World Cup 2018 in Russia, France youngster Kylian Mbappe has been flourished with praise by many legends of football. This time he got the appreciation from the former Seria A and Juventus legend, Gianluigi Buffon.

Buffon believes Mbappe has all the qualities one need to win a Ballon d’Or.

Buffon believes Mbappe has all the potential and qualities required to become the best. The Frenchman scored four goals including a goal in the final of the FIFA World Cup 2018.

The 19-year old also won the best young player of the World Cup award. The former Juventus goalkeeper thinks Mbappe can achieve everything he wants if he keeps his foot in the ground and stay humble. Buffon told PSG’s official club magazine,

“Kylian has something more than the others. I hope that he will remain humble and maintain his desire to progress and make sacrifices. If Kylian does that, then he will leave his mark on football history and write some incredible pages in sporting history.”

Gianluigi Buffon and Kylian Mbappe are now team-mates in PSG after the goalkeeper decided to end his legendary career at Juventus and take a new challenge.

Buffon also revealed his former Juventus teammate Andrea Barzagli was stunned after he faced Mbappe in the 2017 UCL semi-final.

“When I spoke with Andrea, one of my great friends, at the end of the match, he told me: ‘Gigi, in my 20 years as a professional football player, I have rarely seen somebody so fast and so quick even with the ball. I had trouble marking him. These words are not trivial. Andrea, when he is focused and on song, is a great defender.”

The legendary goalkeeper’s Ligue 1 career will start on 13th August when PSG will face Caen at Parc des Princes at the Parc des Princes.

Gianluigi Buffon Believes Cristiano Ronaldo Can Join Juventus

According to the reports Cristiano Ronaldo is nearing a move to Itlay champions; Juventus and Gianluigi Buffon somehow won’t be much surprised if that happens.

According to Gianluigi, it wouldn’t be much of taking aback moment if Ronaldo joins hands with the famous football club.

With the number of reports pouring in, Ronaldo is linked to a breathtaking €100million move from UCL champions, Real Madrid this summer.

Ronaldo likely to Join Juventus

It is expected that Ronaldo’s arrival would come soon enough after Buffon’s departure. Meanwhile, the former goalkeeper has signed up with PSG. The 4-year old who had featured in more than 500 league appearances with Juventus says;

“Ronaldo joining the club Juventus would come as no surprise to him. I wouldn’t be surprised to see Ronaldo at Juventus,” he told Sky Sport on Monday. “It would make me happy because it is what the Juventus world needs, to find new idols and adore them.”

Buffon says Goodbye to Juventus

Buffon had taken his way out from Juventus in May; having being agonised by Ronaldo in the previous two seasons.

In 2017/18 season, Ronaldo had scored three times against Juventus. To eliminate them in the quarter-finals of the Champions League. Having netted a double against the Italian side in the 2017 decider; Buffon said it was those goals, and not Ronaldo potentially joining the club after his departure, that hurt.

The legendary goalkeeper further added it bothers him that Ronaldo scored those two goals against him in the final and the ones that he got last season, he said jokingly.

The 40-year old goalkeeper has accepted he won’t get a chance to play with the star player Rolando, even though he didn’t admit it. But we’re quite sure it will be a sad separation for Gigi Buffon.

Paris Have Great Ambitions and There is a Constant Progression – Buffon

According to Paris Saint-Germain’s newest recruit, Gianluigi Buffon, Neymar’s disappointment at the FIFA World Cup 2018 can fuel the Brazil star to “win everything” at PSG.

Gianluigi Buffon presented as a PSG player on Monday.

Neymar missed the end of the 2017-18 season with a fractured foot, as PSG won a domestic treble. It was his first season in the French capital after joining from Barcelona in a world-record €222 million deal in 2017.

Buffon thinks failing to win the World Cup could act as extra motivation for Neymar in the coming campaign. Buffon said at his presentation to the media on Monday,

“I think that it happens to everyone to get difficult moments. In life, first of all, and during our careers. But there are moments that make us stronger. Neymar can come back in Paris with the envy to win everything. It’s a good thing for him and the club.”

Buffon confirmed he sought counsel from former Juventus team-mate, Blaise Matuidi before opting to join PSG.

“I played only a year with him but I have affection for him. He told me, ‘In my opinion, Paris need a person like you, you’ll feel good there’. That’s why I listened to his advice. PSG are the team that I followed the most in recent years because I was curious. I was surprised to see that they couldn’t reach their objective. But the team needs time, we always need time to improve.”

“Paris have great ambitions and there is a constant progression. I think that the team has the character of the coach,” he added.

Buffon agreed on a one-year deal with the Ligue 1 champions, ending a 17-year stay in Italy with Juventus.

Although Buffon won nine Serie A titles and four Coppas Italia with Juventus, he never tasted glory in the Champions League, losing in the final three times.

Transfer Latest: PSG Completes Signing of Gianluigi Buffon

Paris Saint-Germain have completed the signing of Gianluigi Buffon for a one-year contract. The 40-year old legendary goalkeeper will be giving one last shot for the UCL title with the Ligue 1 champions.

The 40-year old goalkeeper has made a shock move to the Ligue 1 Champions.

He links up with PSG after leaving Juventus as a free agent. He spent 17 years in Turin and belonged to the heart of Juventus fans.

Buffon told his new club’s official website, as he prepares to open a new chapter in an iconic career,

“It is with a great feeling of happiness that I join PSG. For the first time in my career, I am leaving my country and only a project this ambitious could have encouraged me to make such a decision. I want to thank the club and the president for their confidence. To have followed the club’s incredible progression in recent years, I know what dreams PSG, and its fans have in their hearts.

Despite being 40 years old, Buffon promised he would give all his energy and experience,

“I am going to bring all my energy, all my experience and all of my thirst to win to help my new club achieve all the great objectives it has set out for the future. With my teammates and our supporters, we will share fantastic emotions at the Parc des Princes and in all of the stadiums in which we are going to represent Paris, a marvellous city that deserves to one day see its club at the top of international football.”

PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi added,

“We all feel an immense pride in welcoming Gianluigi Buffon into the great family. The immensity of his career, as well as his ambitious personality, unifying and elegant, make him one of the most admired and respected players in world football. Our supporters will know how to welcome Buffon with the enthusiasm and love that he deserves.”

Buffon won nine Serie A titles during his time with Juventus and also tasted World Cup glory with Italy in 2006.

However, in his long career, he failed to win the Champions League. He will be hoping to challenge for that elusive honour once again after joining ambitious PSG.

‘Buffon should have punched the referee’

Gianluigi Buffon’s restraint after being shown a red card by Michael Oliver has been hailed by the Juventus legend Stefano Tacconi. The former Juventus claimed that he wanted Buffon to punch the referee.

Buffon, who might have played his last ever Champions League game was sent off for pushing and arguing with the referee after he awarded Real Madrid a penalty in the last minute of the match.

It could be that a memorable European career is now over, with a 40-year-old performer seemingly heading for retirement, and Tacconi admits that he would have acted differently had he been in Buffon’s boots at Santiago Bernabeu and shockingly, it would have been more brutal.

“Knowing I was going to stop, I’d have punched [Oliver’s] face in. It would have been a great end to a wonderful career. You can’t give a penalty like that in the 95th-minute. Psychologically everyone is tense and you can’t give a penalty like that,” Tacconi said.

'Buffon should have punched the referee' 7

Tacconi has also hit out at referee chief Pierluigi Collina and the wider world of Italian football following two dramatic nights for elite Serie A sides in Europe – with Juve’s heartbreaking exit coming on the back of an unlikely away goals triumph for Roma over Barcelona.

“Collina is in bad faith, there was a referee who was corruptible, just as he was against Juventus in Perugia. He’s in bad faith and you have to change the referee designator every two or three years.”

“When Roma won all the Italian teams congratulated them, when Juve lose everyone is against them and I’m disappointed by that,” he concluded.

He’s got a garbage bin instead of a heart: Buffon

Before the start of the second leg, many would have predicted that its the end of Juventus from this year’s Champions League and most importantly the last ever Champions League match for Gianluigi Buffon.

We knew the end was coming. But not like this. A devastated and a broken Buffon left the pitch in the last minute of the match after getting a red card for pushing the referee Michael Oliver who awarded Real Madrid a penalty which shattered the dreams of Juventus’ glorious comeback.

It was expected that the anger and frustration of Buffon will fade away after the match, but in the post match press conference, the Italian goal-keeper lost his cool even more and lashed out at the referee with some serious comments.

“To award such a doubtful, or super doubtful, penalty just ahead of the final whistle and destroy the work of a team who gave absolutely everything you have to have a rubbish bin instead of your heart.”

He's got a garbage bin instead of a heart: Buffon 8

“A human being cannot decide the elimination of a team with such decision. When I don’t feel I’m good enough, I put myself in a corner. He should do the same. It’s a matter of sensibility. It means you don’t know where you are, which teams are playing, you don’t know shit,” Buffon said.

The Italian goal-keeper also claimed that a penalty was not given to Juventus for a similar foul in the first leg.

“You need to be prepared for a game like this. You have to watch the first leg and see that a similar foul was not punished with a penalty for Juventus in Turin. And especially you need personality to referee a game like this. If you don’t have personality, you better watch the game from the stands with your wife and your kids while eating fries.”

After referee awarded the penalty to Real Madrid, Buffon said a lot of things to the referee. He later revealed the things he said to the ref.

He's got a garbage bin instead of a heart: Buffon 9“What did I say to him while I was protesting? I could say everything in that moment because when you take such decision in a certain moment of the game it means you don’t know what sport is.”

“We had done something which seemed impossible. It’s a pity it ended like this, unjustly. It was one tenth of a penalty. But life goes on,” Buffon concluded.

In the end, Cristiano Ronaldo blasted the penalty into the top corner to break brave Juve’s hearts and get Real Madrid out of jail as they progress, by the skin of their teeth, to the last four of the competition.

Ronaldo breaks brave Juve’s hearts in a thrilling encounter

Before the start of the 2nd leg of the Champions League quarter-finals round, with Real Madrid leading by 3 away goals and Barcelona leading by 4-1, even the greatest predictor couldn’t have predict that the football world is about to witness one of the greatest comeback in the history of football and a goal in the last minute to decide the winner.

After Barcelona  let a 4-1 first-leg lead slip away to Roma on Tuesday to crash out of the Champions League in humiliating fashion, Real Madrid almost followed them with an even worse capitulation on Wednesday.

With a comfortable 3-0 away lead, Real Madrid came to the Santiago Bernabeu with all the confidence in the world. But things started to change a bit as soon as the match started after Mario Mandzukic scored a goal in the 2nd minute of the match.

In the absence of the captain Sergio Ramos, Real Madrid’s defence looked shaky right from the word go and Mandzukic took the best advantage of it as he scored yet another goal from a header at the 37th minute of the match.

Despite creating some chances, the Los Blancos had to go the dressing room without scoring a goal in the first half. Before the start of the second half, Real Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane made some bold and brave substitutions.

Gareth Bale and Casemiro who had a disaster of a performance in the first half were replaced by Lucas Vasquez and Marco Asensio. But that didn’t stop Juventus from scoring their third goal courtesy of a blunder from goal-keeper Keylor Navas.

With 3-3 on the scoreline and more than 25 minutes to go, the Santiago Bernabeu crowd had their heart in their mouth. Madrid were on the verge of one of the most embarrassing nights in their history. With disaster impending, it was a good time to finally find focus.

Ronaldo breaks brave Juve's hearts in a thrilling encounter 11

At 3-3 on aggregate, Real pushed and Juve began to look tired. Theirs had been a monumental effort and just when it seemed as if the night was heading for 30 more minutes of drama in the shape of extra time, Madrid won a penalty after Medhi Benatia appeared to shove Lucas Vazquez in the back.

Juve’s players protested vociferously and Gianluigi Buffon was shown the red card in what may well have been his final Champions League game, the 40-year-old applauded off the pitch by both sets of fans.

The nervousness and tension started to build all over the Santiago Bernabeu and even the suspended captain of Real Madrid, Sergio Ramos couldn’t hold back any more as he came to the tunnel despite being suspended and now that can be resulted in yet another one-match suspension for the Spanish defender.

And as so often, it was left to Ronaldo to have the last say, the Portuguese blasting the penalty into the top corner to break brave Juve’s hearts and get Real Madrid out of jail as they progress, by the skin of their teeth, to the last four of the competition.

With this win, Real Madrid qualify in the semi-finals for the 8th consecutive time and now they are only three matches away from winning hat-tricks of Champions League title.

Can play for Italy, Juventus at 80: Buffon

Turin, Dec 26: Juventus legend Gianluigi Buffon says he feels like a soldier while playing for his nation or club and he will play for them even at the age of 80, if required.

The 39-year-old goalkeeper has figured 175 times for Italy and made 638 appearances for Juventus. He has also won the FIFA World Cup with his nation once and Serie A title with his club a stupendous 10 times.

He was to retire at the 2018 World Cup which would have been his record sixth appearance at the quadrennial football showpiece in Russia but Italy failed to qualify.

“I just don’t know how to answer these (retirement) questions,” the Italian was quoted as saying by goal.com on Sunday.

“Will I stop? Will I not stop? I feel like a soldier in the service of my club and my country. The big picture was always more important to me than my own. That’s how I see my work.

The Italian, who was adjudged the Goalkeeper of the Year by FIFA this year also said he might stop playing football at a point but he will always be available for his nation or club.

“I am very likely to stop, but I am still available for Juventus and the national team.

“Even at 80, if suddenly no goalkeeper would be there, they should call me — I would train briefly and then jump in,” Buffon added.
