Virat Kohli Hit One Six Off Me And Acted All Tough: Kesrick Williams

West Indies speedster Kesrick Williams has revealed the details from his point of view of his amusing battle with India skipper Virat Kohli. The pacer has shared a few interesting instances with Indian counterpart Kohli on the pitch. In 2017, Williams took Kohli’s wicket and followed it with his trademark ‘notebook celebration’.

Virat Kohli kept the instance in his mind and during the 2019 West Indies tour of India he hit him for a six and celebrated with an improvised version of the ‘notebook celebration’. Kesrick remained unsold in the IPL auction in December 2019 and will have to wait to face the star batsman again.

“He finished the game and wrote me up in his notebook”: Kesrick Williams on Virat Kohli

West Indies pacer William narrated the whole incident when he met Virat Kohli again after his notebook celebration on the latter’s dismissal. He told the Indian Skipper had just made a resolve to give him a taste of his own medicine and was successful too.

“In the first game, when Kohli walked in to bat, he walked straight to me and he was like ‘Hey, you got me in Jamaica the last time you bowled against me, it’s not going to happen here’. I was like this thing happened in 2017, this is 2019, this guy really studied this thing? I was like I can’t believe this guy,” Williams told Firstpost.

“He finished the game and wrote me up in his notebook, I don’t know what notebook he had but he wrote me up in it and got on with his antics. He won the game, fair enough. When we left Hyderabad for Kerala, I was in the economy class and he was in the business class, he is looking back, watching me and smiling and he’s making a gesture. I am like ‘Yo, I’m going to dismiss you in the next game like for real’. I said, ‘the next game it’s going to be me and you’. Because I had him in my mind now. I am like you are not going to beat me again, never in cricket. This is not going to happen again.” he added.

Kesrick Williams reveals how Virat Kohli got under his skin

The Indian skipper was again dismissed by Williams in the second game of the series against West Indies in 2019 and again had revenge in his mind. Williams revealed how Virat Kohli kept staring at him throughout the training session and after hitting a six to him told him that he beat him again. However, Williams says he doesn’t have anything against Kohli and its just banter on the field.

“The third game now, I am warming up. And the skipper (Pollard) was like, Kohli’s really staring at me there. And I’ll be honest, every ball I bowl, every step I make…He is warming up with his team and his eyes are fixed on me. He came into bat, I think I got Rohit, I did that (welcome) gesture and looked at him and said come. He looked at me and started chirping. I was confident then, I got him out in the last game. The first over went for 14. And the other three balls, I bowled to Rahul and they weren’t bad ones. And in my two middle overs before the last over, I got him (Kohli) tied down,” Williams said.

“He didn’t score a lot of runs off me, it was just singles. And then in the last over, I felt like I haven’t bowled much slower balls to him in this game, now I am going to try to get him out again with a couple of balls left of my last over. And he walked into it and flicked me over mid-wicket for a six. He looked at me and was acting like ‘Yo, I beat you again.’ I am like, dude, I went for 35 for two in the game (It was 1/37) and you hit one six off me and acting big and macho. And then Pollard was like ‘Yo, don’t give him that energy, leave him alone, go back’. I walked back and was like ‘Mate, try and beat me’. I am confident now. At that point when I went for 60 in that first game, he acted all sorts.

“I don’t have anything against him. It’s just banter. Because honestly, that guy is one of the best players in world cricket,” Williams signed off.

Virat Kohli will lead RCB in the upcoming IPL 2020 in UAE. In 177 matches for the Bengaluru-based franchise, Virat Kohli has scored 5412 runs, including five centuries. He has been loyal to his side through thick and thin in their 13-year journey in the IPL. RCB has reached the final thrice, under three different captains but the IPL title has never got in their hands.

India vs West Indies 3rd ODI: IND vs WI Dream11 Team, Playing XI, Fantasy Cricket Tips

For Team India, it is their dominance which will be at stake during the third ODI in Cuttack while for the West Indies, it is an opportunity to create history as it will be their first series win here after more than 10 years. Over the years, Men in Blue have dominated West Indies across formats and if they win the third ODI, it will be for the third consecutive year that India will defeat West Indies in an ODI series.

Both the teams have their chances in Cuttack and it remains to be seen which of them reigns supreme in the decider. West Indies delivered the first punch by chasing down a big target of 288 in Chennai. Riding on centuries fro Shimron Hetmyer and Shai Hope, they pulled off a big win and left India much to ponder.

After losing the toss in the second ODI, the home team again came out to bat but this time, they put up a total of 387/5. West Indies did follow the chase but the Indian bowlers made quick inroads in between to derail the chase – India won the second ODI by 107 runs.

Conditions –

The pitch will be full of runs and the captain winning the toss will want to bowl first due to dew factor. The team batting first will have to make sure that it gets a total of above 350 to create pressure or else, the team batting second can chase down the total.

Here is the likely playing XI of both the teams –

Chahal, Faf, World Cup 2019, Faf du Plessis, India vs South Africa,

Will Yuzvendra Chahal replace Kedar Jadhav? Who will replace Deepak Chahar? India will have to address the two problems. Chahal is likely to sit out as Jadhav, with his part-time spin, has shown that he can takes wickets. As for Chahar, Navdeep Saini will replace him in the playing XI.

West Indies

Why they would want a change? Kieron Pollard did make a change in the second ODI but none of the bowlers found a way out against India batsmen. Hence, expect the visitors are expected to go in with same bowling combination. The batting line-up will largely remain the same.

Not West Indies Coaches, Third Umpire Asked On-Field Umpire To Refer Ravindra Jadeja’s Run-Out: Report

The ongoing controversy regarding Ravindra Jadeja’s run-out has taken a new turn. As per a report in ESPNcricinfo, the third umpire prompted the on-field umpire to refer the decision upstairs after he saw the replays. Shaun George, the on-field umpire, had shaken his head after the ball hit the stumps.

But once the replays were shown, the third umpire Rod Tucker prompted George to refer the decision. The decision to go upstairs did come as a surprise and Jadeja had to walk back. The West Indies’ players did not make a loud appeal and the play was set to resume before the third umpire made a decision.

Indian skipper Virat Kohli was miffed with the on-field umpire’s decision to go upstairs as he thought that Kieron Pollard was asked by WI’s team management to have a relook. He also expressed his disappointment in the post-match presentation as well, saying that he has ever seen this in cricket. Jadeja was dismissed on the fourth delivery of 48th over.

On the other hand, Kieron Pollard was satisfied with the decision and said that right decision was made at the end of the day.

Shimron Hetmyer and Shai Hope steered West Indies to a big chase by putting up 218 runs for the second wicket. Following the defeat in the T20I series, West Indies lead the ODI series 1-0 and will hope to seal the series in the second ODI in Vizag.

Just like Chennai, the Vizag pitch is also a slow one which could force India to play Yuzvendra Chahal. West Indies, on the other hand, are likely to retain the same combination.

The weather forecast suggests that there are chances on rain in the evening and team winning the toss might bowl first. The match will start at 1:30 PM.

Following a series win in the T20Is, Team India will look to extend its domination when it hosts West Indies in the first ODI of the series in Chennai on Sunday. India, after failing to defend the target in the second T20I, made a strong comeback and defended a total of 240 in the third T20I.

The last time two teams played an ODI series in India, the home team won the five-mach series 3-1 – the second ODI was a tied-affair.

Conditions –

The conditions in Chennai will be assisting spinners and both the teams look set to play an extra spinner. There are chances of rain during the match and both the teams have had to cancel their net sessions as well. Expect rain to play a part in the opening ODI. Toss isn’t expected to be a big factor in Chennai.

Here is the likely playing XI of both the teams –

KL Rahul

In the absence of Shikhar Dhawan, KL Rahul will move up in the batting order and Mayank Agarwal might have to wait for his chance. The spinning conditions in Chennai could mean that Shardul Thakur might have to wait his comeback in the playing XI.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar Ruled Out Of New Zealand Tour, Might Make A Comeback During IPL 2020: Report

India pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar made his much-awaited come for the home series against West Indies but he suffered some issues even before the end of the T20I series. He has already been ruled out of the ODI series due to a groin issue and looks set to sit out for long. As per a report in The Times of India, Bhuvneshwar is suffering from a sports hernia which the doctors failed to notice.

This will rule him out of action for long and Bhuvneshwar might only make a comeback during IPL 2020 – he will also miss New Zealand tour. “He will certainly miss the entire tour of New Zealand. Probably should be in a position to return to cricket only during the IPL, if all goes well,” sources told TOI.

As per reports earlier, NCA bungled up while judging the extent Bhuvneshwar’s injury and he continued to play with an injury during World Cup. The right-arm pacer also played in West Indies before being ruled out of action for the next three months.

He underwent sessions at NCA and played two T20 matches for Uttar Pradesh before making a comeback for the home series against West Indies but as the report mentions, the doctors failed to detect sports hernia.

India off-spinner R Ashwin suffered the same issue a couple of years back and had to miss complete IPL 2017. He made his return for ICC Champions Trophy. It remains to be seen what the BCCI suggests for Bhuvneshwar.

A string of injuries has seen Bhuvneshwar sit out for long. He hasn’t played a Test match for two years now. After being rested for home Test against Afghanistan, he was expected to lead the pace attack against England last year but was ruled out of the complete series due to back issue which he suffered after playing third ODI. He didn’t get a chance in playing XI in Australia and wasn’t selected for West Indies Tests.

For now, he has been replaced by Shardul Thakur for West Indies ODIs and the Mumbaikar is also expected to keep his place for Australia ODIs next year.

Shardul Thakur To Replace Unfit Bhuvneshwar Kumar For West Indies ODIs

India pacer Shardul Thakur is set to be recalled in the ODI squad as he will be replacing an unfit Bhuvneshwar Kumar for West Indies ODIs. As per a report in Sportstar, the selectors considered Umesh Yadav as other option and gave a go-ahead to Shardul.

The right-arm pacer has played five ODIs in which he has six wickets. Thakur was in the scheme of things for World Cup 2019 as well but with Mohammed Shami regaining form in white-ball cricket, he went down in the pecking order.

Shardul was a part of the T20I series against Bangladesh but did not get a chance. He had undergone a foot surgery after IPL 2019. He made his comeback for Mumbai in Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy and was called in the national squad as well. Though with selectors making a change in the pace-attack for West Indies T20Is, the selection panel dropped Thakur.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar, T20I squad

Meanwhile, Bhuvneshwar has been ruled out due to groin injury. As per a report, he complained of pain to the team management and was in line to be ruled out. The three T20Is against West Indies was the comeback series for the right-arm pacer.

He had travelled to West Indies after World Cup 2019 but sat out of international cricket for almost four months due to a back issue. BCCI did not make an official statement on Bhuvneshwar then. It remains to be seen if he will be fit for the tour of New Zealand next year.

He is the second player to be ruled out of ODIs. Earlier, Shikhar Dhawan was ruled out of complete series due to a thigh injury which he suffered during Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. He was replaced by Sanju Samson in T20Is while Mayank Agarwal took his place for ODIs.

India take on West Indies in the opening ODI in Chennai on Sunday. The next two ODIs will be played in Vizag and Cuttack on December 18 and 22, respectively. Ahead of the ODIs, Men in Blue won the three-match T20I series 2-1.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar In Line To Miss 1st West Indies ODI, Could Be Ruled Out Of Series

India pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar is in line to miss the opening ODI against West Indies and might also go on to miss the complete ODI series due to pain. As per a report in Mumbai Mirror, he complained of pain and discomfort after the third T20I of the series against West Indies. The board hasn’t made an announcement regarding it but the team management might soon call in a backup or replacement for Bhuvneshwar if that is the case.

The right-arm pacer made his comeback to international cricket after almost four months. As per reports, he suffered a back issue during the West Indies tour after World Cup. BCCI, again, did not reveal any reasons for Bhuvneshwar’s absence from the squad. He trained at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) before playing two T20 matches for Uttar Pradesh to prove his match fitness.

Bhuvneshwar played all the three T20Is against West Indies and scalped two wickets in the third game. In Jasprit Bumrah’s absence, Bhuvneshwar will lead the pace attack but he isn’t fit, then team managemental have to call-up a replacement soon as Deepak Chahar and Mohammed Shami are only pacers in the squad.

Talking of the team combination, KL Rahul is expected to walk in the playing XI in place of Shikhar Dhawan. Mayank Agarwal, Dhawan’s replacement, might have to wait for his chance in white-ball cricket.

The middle-order will remain the same. Looking at Chennai’s pitch, India might go with both Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal. Ravindra Jadeja is confirmed to be part of playing XI. Shivam Dube might have to wait for his ODI debut.

After the opening ODI, both the teams will travel to Vizag and Cuttack for the next two ODIs on December 18 and 22, respectively.

Kesrick Williams, Who Teased Virat Kohli During T20I Series, Shortlisted For IPL 2020 Auction

Kesrick Williams may have scalped 41 wickets in 24 T20Is at 17.65 but he only made an impact on the Indian audience after dismissing Virat Kohli in the recently concluded T20I series. The right-arm pacer has also attracted the interest of IPL franchises as Williams is on the list of shortlisted players for the IPL 2020 auction which takes place on December 19.

Williams was also a part of IPL 2018 auction but since it was a mega-auction, the list included many players who were never in contention to get an IPL bid. His name wasn’t in the final of shortlisted players for IPL 2019 auction but this time, Williams’ name is on the list and he is also expected to draw a bid for himself.

Kesrick Williams, Who Teased Virat Kohli During T20I Series, Shortlisted For IPL 2020 Auction 5

Williams was a strong contender to replace a pacer during IPL 2018 as he had scalped18 wickets in 10 T20Is in 2017, finishing second to Yuzvendra Chahal on the list of most wickets, but none of the franchises took note of his performances. It required performance in India and the wicket of the Indian skipper to make it big.

Williams isn’t expected to draw many bids but the teams looking for an overseas backup pacer might look to add him to their roster

Williams first hogged the limelight during the first T20I when he was involved in an on-field banter with Kohli. The Indian skipper responded with a four and a six in the 16th over and followed up with Williams’ famous notebook celebration which he did after dismissing Kohli back in 2017.

The rivalry between the two continued and Williams decided to put his finger on his lips after dismissing Kohli in the second T20I.

India won the three-match T20I series 2-1. After failing to defend the targe the second T20I, Indian batsmen came up with exceptional performance and put up a total of 240 on the board in the third T20I. In response, West Indies managed 173/8, losing the match by 67 runs. The two teams snow play three-match ODI series starting December 15.

India vs West Indies 3rd T20I: IND vs WI Dream11 Team, Playing XI, Fantasy Cricket Tips

West Indies made a strong comeback in the second T20I and chased down a huge total of 171 to level the series 1-1. India’s sloppy fielding did play a huge role in West Indies’ success but the bowling performance once again popped up India’s problems of failing to defend totals. India haven’t been the smartest defenders in T20Is, a fact that West Indies captain Kieron Pollard would have known.

Lendl Simmons, famous for his 82* off 51 in the T20 World Cup semi-final in 2016, put up 73 runs for the first wicket with Evin Lewis and remained unbeaten on 67 off 45 to ensure a win. Nicholas Pooran’s 38* off 18 also played a part towards as end as West Indies scaled the target.

Conditions –

The flat wicket of Wankhede Stadium will produce high scores and team batting second will have the advantage. Pollard has more experience of playing at Wankhede than many Indian players and West Indies are the favourite going into the decider. Toss will play a crucial role in deciding the course of the match.

Here is likely playing XI of both the teams –

Samson Samson would have got his chance had India won the second T20I but since the series is on the line in Mumbai, expect the same playing XI for the third time in the series. Whether Shivam Dube continues to bat at number 3 or not will depend on the fact that whether India are batting first or are they chasing the target.

West Indies –

Pooran’s inclusion did wonders for West Indies as he played a pivotal role in the chase. Their bowlers also put up a great effort to restrict India for 170. Pollard is unexpected to tinker the winning combination.

We Just Need To Focus On Winning The Series, Composition Of The Team Will Take Care: Rohit Sharma On T20 World Cup Squad

India’s limited-overs vice-captain Rohit Sharma has made it clear that he doesn’t want to think so early about the next year’s T20 World Cup in Australia. He only wants to focus on winning the series which, according to him, will automatically help the team for the assignment in Australia.

Team management and selectors have always said that they are finding a combination which can give them the trophy of T20 World Cup 2020. But Rohit Sharma has a different view. He doesn’t want to take the burden of the next year’s big assignment which is scheduled in Australia. The hit-man opines that he only wants to regularly win the series which, according to him, will help the team to find proper T20I squad.

“See, I don’t want to keep saying that we are trying to build a squad for the (T20)World Cup. It is still a long, long way ahead. We just need to focus on winning the series, and that will keep us in a good state, moving forward,” Rohit said on Tuesday ahead of the series finale.

“If we keep winning games, keep doing the right things on the field, the composition of the team will take care (by itself),” Rohit added.

India vs West Indies 3rd T20I

West Indies and India will play the decider-match of the three-match T20I series in Mumbai on Wednesday (December 11). India won the first T20I by six wickets against the visitors where Virat Kohli stood for the team to chase down their record target of 208 runs. Meanwhile, the Caribbean team won the 2nd T20I and made a comeback, levelling the series with 1-1.

The Indian team was criticised for poor fielding against West Indies in both those matches. India left five catches in the two T20Is which is a worrying factor in keeping mind the next T20 World Cup. Virat Kohli and co. need to work in fielding areas to lock this T20I series in Wankhede Stadium.
