Rashid Khan Not Retained As He Parted Ways With Sunrisers Hyderabad Before IPL 2022 Mega Auction

Rashid Khan, Afghanistan’s leg-spinner, parted ways with Sunrisers Hyderabad before IPL Auction 2022. The 23-year-old penned an emotional note after SRH released him from their squad.

Sunrisers Hyderabad has let go of a majority of their overseas stars before IPL Auction 2022. New Zealand all format skipper batsman Kane Williamson is the only foreigner retained by Hyderabad. Along with Kane Williamson, SRH has retained uncapped players youngster Abdul Samad and pacer Umran Malik.

Rashid Khan Thanked Sunrisers Hyderabad For Support After Being Released By The Franchise Ahead Of IPL 2022 Mega Auction

Abdul Samsad has played 23 IPL matches managing 222 runs besides picking 2 scalps, while Umran Malik has played only 3 IPL games picking 2 scalps. Rashid Khan posted a collage of four photos on his Instagram handle and thanked Sunrisers Hyderabad as well as the team’s fans for their support.

“It has been a wonderful journey with the Sunrisers Hyderabad. Thank you for your support, love and for believing in me. To the #OrangeArmy you’ve been my pillar of strength and I shall forever be grateful for such wonderful fans,” wrote Rashid Khan.

Rashid Khan, who picked up 18 wickets in 14 matches in the last edition, has consistently turned heads with his bowling exploits in the IPL. Maintaining a good economy of 6.69, he was the seventh-best bowler in the Purple Cap standings last season.

Overall, Rashid has scalped 93 wickets in 76 matches for SRH at an economy of 6.33. Only Bhuvneshwar Kumar (142 wickets), Sandeep Sharma (112 wickets), and Ashish Nehra (106 wickets) have a better wicket-taking record for the franchise than him.

Rashid Khan played 76 IPL matches for the Sunrisers Hyderabad, scalping 93 wickets at an economy rate of 6.33. The leg-spinner won eight Man of the Match awards in the five seasons he played for SRH. In the 2021 IPL, Rashid scalped 18 wickets and scored 83 runs in 14 matches for the Orange Army.

Rashid Khan of Afghanistan picked up 8 scalps at an economic rate of 6.1 in the T20I World Cup. Rashid Khan has 93 scalps in 76 games in IPL, averaging 20.55 at an economic rate of 6.33- the best in IPL history. If SRH fails to acquire Rashid Khan’s services during the bidding, it would be the first season for the player with any other franchise, as his association with the Orange Army dates back to 2017, when he made his IPL tournament debut.

Sunrisers Hyderabad Will Aim To Build A Strong Squad Around Kane Williamson And Try To Buy Back Rashid Khan, Jonny Bairstow, And Bhuvneshwar Kumar

Sunrisers Hyderabad CEO K Shanmugam appeared on Star Sports last night to discuss the reasons behind the team’s player retentions. While talking about Rashid Khan’s release, K Shanmugam mentioned that the Orange Army will try to match the auction price if he enters the mega auction.

Having released most of their star players, Sunrisers Hyderabad will aim to rebuild a strong squad around captain Kane Williamson at IPL Auction 2022. It will be interesting to see if SRH can buy back the likes of Rashid Khan, Jonny Bairstow, and Bhuvneshwar Kumar at the mega auction.

SRH paid Rs 14 crores to New Zealand skipper Kane Williamson followed by Rs 4 crores each to uncapped Jammu and Kashmir talents Abdul Samad and Umran Malik. Meanwhile, David Warner, Jonny Bairstow, and Bhuvneshwar Kumar were also released along with Rashid Khan.

The bids were submitted by the authorized representatives of the interested parties in Dubai. Sourav Ganguly: BCCI Isn’t Surprised By The Bidding Numbers As IPL Is A Big Brand

This deal means a huge reward for not only the Indian board but also for the development of Indian cricket at the grass-root level as well as per Sourav Ganguly. The BCCI President Sourav Ganguly said this money will be used to prosper Indian cricket, and they were not surprised because of the brand of IPL sparks in the globe.

Sourav Ganguly in a press conference after the announcement while replying to a query said: “We were not surprised actually, this (IPL) is a big brand and we are extremely happy that Indian cricket is moving forward. That is what is important for us. Congratulations to Sanjeev and CVC for being number one and number two but we look at Indian cricket and that’s what our job is. The more Indian cricket prospers, the better it is.”

“All the money goes back to Indian cricket. That’s what we are here for, we want Indian cricket to go forward and it has gone a long way forward in the last few years. This is the 14th season of IPL and the brand has grown and I think it is a great sign for us,” BCCI President Sourav Ganguly added.

Business tycoon Sanjiv Goenka and international equity investment firm Irelia Company Pte Limited (CVC Capital) shelled out a combined Rs 12,715 crore (approx $1.7 billion) to win the bids for two new IPL teams, a windfall that far exceeded BCCI’s expectations on Monday.

Brijesh Patel: Goenka Group Was Highest Bidders For Both Ahmedabad And Lucknow, And They Preferred to Take Lucknow

The BCCI was hoping for a cumulative bid in the range of Rs 10,000 crore but, to their surprise, earned Rs 7090 crore from Sanjiv Goenka’s RP-SG Group for the Lucknow franchise, while CVC capital forked out Rs 5625 crore for the Ahmedabad team. As a result, the two new sides Lucknow and Ahmedabad, will take part in the 2022 IPL.

IPL Governing Council (GC) chairman Brijesh Patel stated: “We had nine bidders, all of them were qualified. CVC group quoted 5,625 crores for Ahmedabad and 5,116 crores for Lucknow. RP Goenka ventures quoted 7,090 crores for Ahmedabad, For Indore 4,790 and for Lucknow 7,090 crores.”

“The highest was the Goenka group and they were highest for both Ahmedabad and Lucknow. And they preferred to take Lucknow as their franchise. CVC was second highest and they got Ahmedabad for 5,625 crores,” he informed.

The new franchises will participate in IPL from the 2022 season onwards, subject to the bidders completing the post-bid formalities as specified in the ITT document. The IPL 2022 season will comprise ten teams and will have 74 matches, wherein each team will play seven home and seven away matches.

Sanjiv Goenka, who owned Rising Pune Supergiants for a period of two years- 2016 to 2017, when Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals were suspended owing to spot-fixing charges, was elated to be back in the IPL. Rising Pune Supergiants lost the 2017 IPL Final to Mumbai Indians by 1 run, which was the team’s last game in the IPL.

This is the first time the BCCI is adding two new franchises to the 8 teams since Pune Warriors India and Kochi Tuskers Kerala had joined the league in 2010 before both franchises were terminated.

Sourav Ganguly: Heartening To See Inclusion Of 2 New Franchises Which May Bring More Domestic Cricketers From India To Global Stage

Sanjiv Goenka was delighted to be back in the IPL and this time, as a full-time owner and not a temporary one, which was the case when he ran the Pune franchise (Rising Pune Supergiant(s) in IPL 2016 and 2017) during the spot-fixing-related suspension of CSK and Rajasthan Royals. Sourav Ganguly has said that the BCCI is not surprised by the bidding amount for the two new IPL teams, i.e. Lucknow and Ahmedabad.

BCCI President, Sourav Ganguly said: “The BCCI is happy to welcome two new teams from the next season of the Indian Premier League. I would like to congratulate RPSG Ventures Ltd & Irelia Company Pte Ltd for being successful bidders. The IPL will now go to two new cities in India viz in Lucknow and Ahmedabad. It is heartening to see the inclusion of two new teams at such a high valuation, and it reiterates the cricketing and financial strength of our cricket ecosystem.”

“True to IPL’s motto of Where Talent Meets Opportunity, the inclusion of two new teams will bring more domestic cricketers from our country to the global stage. The ITT process included two interested bidders from outside of India, which strongly emphasizes the global appeal of the IPL as a sports property. The IPL is proving to be a wonderful instrument in globalizing the game of cricket. I am keenly looking forward to IPL 2022,” he added.

The companies that cleared the final round of technical vetting to be eligible to place the bids included RP-SG, the Adani Group, HT Media Private Limited, Torrent Pharma, Aurobindo Pharma, All Cargo, CVC, Kotak group in a consortium, and the Glazers of Manchester United through their equity firm.

Sanjiv Goenka Who Bought Lucknow Franchise For INR 7090 Crores Said Team’s Valuation Will Go Up In Future

Sanjiv Goenka, Kolkata city-based billionaire who bought the Lucknow franchise for a whopping Rs 7,090 crore during the IPL bidding in Dubai on Monday, said the team’s valuation “would be a multiple of a few times” over the next 10 years.

The BCCI had a windfall of close to USD 2 billion, with Kolkata-based RPSG Group and international equity investment firm CVC Capital winning the bid for Lucknow and Ahmedabad franchises respectively. The Goenka-owned RPSG Group became the highest bidder, while CVC Capital pipped Adani Group to win the bid for Ahmedabad with a Rs 5600 offer.

Sanjiv Goenka: Valuations Of Lucknow Franchise Will Go Up In The Future

RPSG Group owner Sanjiv Goenka said he is delighted to have a new IPL team in Lucknow, saying the state of Uttar Pradesh had been waiting to have an IPL team of its own for quite some time.

“We do believe that the valuations of this will go up in the future. And from what we invest, to what it could be over a period of 10 years would be a multiple of a few times,” chairman of RPSG Group Goenka, who is also the principal owner of ATK Mohun Bagan in ISL, said here.

“Frankly it’s something that I’ve been keen on for a while. When the opportunity presented itself we took it. IPL has created some of the biggest brands. Look at Mumbai Indians, Delhi Capitals, Chennai Super Kings and look at some of the others, they are really household names, some of the biggest brands the country has,” Goenka added.

On claiming the Lucknow franchise, he said: “For us, Uttar Pradesh has been an important state. We distribute power in Greater Noida. We have a number of Spencer stores in the state. So we do believe that will help us to connect with the state, and we look forward to this.”

On Monday, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced successful bidders for two new franchises of IPL. As a result, the next season will be a 10-team affair with 74 matches as two new teams based out of Lucknow and Ahmedabad were announced.

Sanjiv Goenka Feels Good To Be Back In The IPL After Owing Rising Pune Supergiant(s) For 2 Years- 2016 And 2017

Sanjiv Goenka, who owned Rising Pune Supergiants for a period of two years- 2016 to 2017, when Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals were suspended owing to spot-fixing charges, was elated to be back in the IPL. However, rising Pune Supergiants lost the 2017 IPL Final to Mumbai Indians by 1 run, which was the team’s last game in the IPL.

“Firstly, it feels good to be back in the IPL. But this is just the first step. Now, it’s really for us to build a good team, and try to put up a good performance. So the work really begins now in terms of actually getting the coach, putting together a team, and getting a sense of discipline and performance into play,” he said.

Rising Pune Supergiants

Sanjiv Goenka said they’re yet to decide on the side’s name, while the team combination and marquee players would depend on the availability.

“If wishes are horses…We don’t know yet. It would depend on retention policy and who are the available players, then only we can decide on our key players,” he signed off.

This is the first time the BCCI is adding two new franchises to the 8 team IPL event since Rising Pune Supergiant/s and Gujarat Lions took part in the IPL for two years – 2016 and 2017 – when Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals were suspended due to alledged match-fixing offences.

Expansion of the IPL is not a new experiment. Pune Warriors India and Kochi Tuskers Kerala had joined the league in 2010 before both franchises were terminated. In 2011, there were 10 teams divided into 2 groups, with Pune Warriors India and Kochi Tuskers Kerala, and after the latter’s withdrawal, 9 teams played the IPL in 2012 and 2013.

Sanjiv Goenka will wait for more clarifications from the BCCI when it comes to auction and retention regulations before zeroing in on the plan to buy players for the Lucknow-based franchise. Notably, IPL 2022 will be preceded by a mega auction, and the BCCI is yet to announce the retention rules officially.

Robin Uthappa Reckons MS Dhoni’s Wit Is Sharper Than His Glovework

Robin Uthappa, the veteran Indian batsman, reckoned that MS Dhoni’s wit is sharper than his wicketkeeping skills. The 35-year-old went down the memory lane when MS Dhoni, in a funny way, tried to get under former England skipper Kevin Pietersen’s skin. MS Dhoni’s antics were regarding a Test match between the two sides back in 2011.

During the game, Kevin Pietersen was given out caught behind with MS Dhoni rolling his arms over. On an immediate basis, the England batsman took the DRS and replays showed that he didn’t edge the ball. Hence, the on-field decision had to be reversed.

Robin Uthappa Recalls MS Dhoni Spoke Out From Commentary Box To Kevin Pietersen That He Got His Scalp Once

Eventually, Kevin Pietersen scored a first-innings double-hundred as the hosts won it by a massive margin of 196 runs. Robin Uthappa remembered MS Dhoni telling Kevin Pietersen to shut his mouth as the former Indian skipper told him to shut his mouth since he dismissed him.

“I’ll give you an example. MS said to Kevin Pietersen when he sledged him from the commentary box. MS told him ‘listen I’ve gotten your wicket so please keep quiet. So, I think that is proof enough for what he endorses and what he doesn’t. He’s very quick-witted.

“His wit, if not the same speed of his glove-work, it could be faster. MS’ wit is quick,” Uthappa was quoted as saying during an interaction with stand-up comedian Sorabh Pant on his YouTube channel ‘Wake Up with Sorabh’.

MS Dhoni and Kevin Pietersen’s banter on whether the England player was his first Test wicket goes back to 2011. This in reference to a Test match between India and England at Lord’s (21 July 2011). Zaheer Khan was injured and MS Dhoni chipped in with a spell. Nine balls into his spell MS Dhoni almost got a nick from Kevin Pietersen’s bat as umpire Billy Bowden gave him out. However, Kevin Pietersen reviewed it and the decision was overruled.

This incident was once again brought up in April 2017 during an IPL match between Rising Pune Supergiants vs Mumbai Indians. This time Kevin Pietersen was inside the commentary box talking to Manoj Tiwary, who was fielding at slips. He told Manoj Tiwary to go and tell MS Dhoni that he (Kevin Pietersen) is a better golfer than him. When Manoj Tiwary did this after the next ball, MS Dhoni responded saying, “He’s still my 1st test wicket.”

Robin Uthappa Was Made To Stand At The Silly Point To Sledge Ricky Ponting During A T20I Match In 2007

Robin Uthappa also narrated an incident when India and Australia took part in a one-off T20I match in Mumbai back in 2007.

“In 2007 when we played a one-off T20 game against Australia, we were at it. MS would put me in charge of sledging some of the senior members of that Australia team like Ricky Ponting. So, in a one-day game, they would make me stand at the silly point just to chew Ricky Ponting and all. It was great fun,” he stated.

Robin Uthappa with MS Dhoni Image-Twitter.

Going further with the interview, Robin Uthappa said that he was made to stand at the silly point for the sole purpose of sledging the Australian players, particularly the Delhi Capitals head coach, Ricky Ponting who was in his prime at that point of time. He also said that it was great fun to implement such tactics by ‘Captain Cool’ MS Dhoni. During the only T20I between India and Australia, Ricky Ponting was the highest run-scorer after getting 76 runs from 53 balls.

2007 turned out to be a memorable year for Team India. In MS Dhoni’s maiden stint as Team India’s skipper, the Men in Blue lifted the inaugural T20 World Cup. Later, at the start of 2008, India also won a tri-nation series in Australia. As far as Robin Uthappa is concerned, his career hardly took off. In 46 ODIs and 13 T20Is, the right-hander only managed 1183 runs with seven fifties. In the 2021 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL), he was a part of the Chennai Super Kings (CSK), but he didn’t get to play a game.

Tymal Mills Shared Experiences While Playing In IPL And PSL

Tymal Mills, England pacer recently shared his experiences while playing in the Indian Premier League (IPL) and the Pakistan Super League (PSL).

Tymal Mills pointed out it was tougher for him to get a place in a PSL playing XI because he was an overseas fast bowler. He noted that there were many local pacers available to franchisees in the PSL.

Known for his ability to bowl fast with interesting change ups, Tymal Mills said that he will be bowling same stuff that has given him success IANS

Tymal Mills: Nobody Can Deny IPL Is The Biggest League In The World While Crowds Were Brilliant In Pakistan

The English player felt the passion and the energy of fans of both leagues were the same, but he concluded that the IPL was the number-one T20 league in the world.

Speaking to Times Now on Thursday, Tymal Mills was asked to explain the differences between IPL and PSL.

“The IPL is the biggest league in the world. Nobody can ever deny it. I have seen that and experienced it on and off the field,” said Mills. “The PSL, I have played for 4 years. Last year, I played a whole edition which was held in Pakistan, the crowds were brilliant.”

Given the high price tag, Tymal Mills is sure to face heightened scrutiny in IPL 10. - SUDHAKARA JAIN
Given the high price tag, Tymal Mills is sure to face heightened scrutiny in IPL 10. – SUDHAKARA JAIN

“The stadiums are the same sizes as India, they are largely sold out and there is a real passion. On the field, the PSL is tough as an overseas fast bowler because there are so many quick bowlers in Pakistan, the balance of teams is different,” he added.

Tymal Mills played five matches for the Royal Challengers Bangalore in IPL 2017 and picked up five wickets. The left-arm pacer also picked up 28 wickets in 22 games in the PSL.
When Tymal Mills was first diagnosed with a career-threatening congenital back injury, he was devastated. It has since turned out to be a blessing in disguise. The tearaway fast bowler was told that he suffered from a narrow spinal cord. He was warned that bowling extended spells could cause serious long-term damage.
England pacer Tymal Mills had emerged as the then most expensive bowler in the Indian Premier League (IPL) history going for a staggering Rs 12 crore to the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in 2017. He said the price did not seem “real” to him and took a while to sink in.
The 24-year-old was the second-highest buy after his English teammate Ben Stokes, who was taken from Rs 14.5 crore by now-defunct Rising Pune Supergiants (RPSG) at the IPL auction in Bengaluru in 2017.

Tymal Mills Labels IPL As The Highest Standard

Tymal Mills also stated that the IPL was not the number-one T20 league in the world because of the money the franchises spend but due to the talents involved in the tournament.

Labeling the IPL as the ‘highest standard’, Mills continued: “The IPL is the highest standard. All countries are available. The money is obviously there. The environment breeds success. Only the best survive. If you don’t perform, you get moved on and someone else comes in. That’s the environment of the IPL and that’s why it is the number-one T20 league in the world.”

Tymal Mills benefitted from the late withdrawal from the IPL auction of his fellow left-arm pace bowler Mitchell Starc, who has performed well for Bangalore in the past.

Tymal Mills has played for the Karachi Kings, the Peshawar Zalmi, and the Quetta Gladiators in the PSL. Pacer Tymal Mills also played 5 T20Is for England and picked 3 scalps.

Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) were dealt a huge blow ahead of the tenth edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2017 after their premier pace Mitchell Starc pulled out of the tournament. Going into auction, RCB camp was determined to sign one quality overseas pacer. Daniel Vettori and his men, who didn’t look much interested in other players, were in a different mode after Tymal Mills, England’s T20 specialist was up for grabs.

Karn Sharma Credits Mahela Jayawardene For Mumbai Indians’ Triumph In IPL 2017

Karn Sharma opens up how the mentor Mahela Jayawardene got Mumbai Indians rid of the pressure in the grand finale of IPL 2017 against Rising Pune Supergiant. The veteran spinner was the part of the MI victory in the 10th edition of the lucrative league.

After winning the toss, Rohit Sharma led Mumbai Indians could not set a huge target, setting 130 runs target at the loss of eight wickets. However, MI is famous for winning matches from the crunch situations and similar happened in this marquee clash. Even though RSP skipper Steve Smith and Ajinkya Rahane scored 51 and 44 runs respectively, the MI snatched the victory from them by one run.

Karn Sharam credits the veteran Sri Lankan cricketer for helping the team to win the third IPL title. He said that Jayawardene used strong words that motivated the team to win the low-scoring match.

“We had made only 128-129 runs in that game so, Mahela Jayawardene (Mumbai Indians’ coach) made sure that the entire team was on their toes. He used some strong words like- We have to win this game anyhow. Whether you win it by 10 runs or 1 run, I don’t care. But, you have to win it,” Sharma told Dr. Yash Kashikar on Say Yash To Sports show.

Sharma believes his role was extremely important:

The spinner returned wicketless but he was economical bowlers, leaking 18 runs in his four-over quota. He made sure that he kept a check on the run-scoring. Sharma claims that his spell played a significant role in MI’s triumph.

“That motivated all of us & it was one of the best games I have ever played. My spell of zero for 18 in 4 overs was extremely important as well since me & Krunal (Pandya) were the only spinners in the side in that game,” the tweaker added.

The electric atmosphere in the stadium is a sight worth watching which perhaps motivate the players to give it all on the field.

The whole cricketing world is now waiting to see another dazzling season of the lucrative league. The eleventh season of the Indian Premier League will kick-start on April 7. Bangalore’s Chinnaswamy Stadium is also one venue which never fails to entertain.  The venue has a reputation for yielding high-scoring games but surprisingly last year was an exception. The venue did not witness high-scoring ties, but there was no dearth of excitement at all. The knowledgeable fans only added more glamour to the games by supporting the team throughout the season.

2. Eden Gardens, Kolkata:

Home ground of two-time champions Kolkata Knight Riders, the iconic Eden Gardens lived up to its expectations. The venue not only witnessed some memorable games but was also jam-packed throughout the season. The pick of the lot was certainly the game between the home side and Royal Challengers Bangalore. Defending a modest 132, the Knight Riders bowled out the visitors for a record low total of 49.  The fans will be keen to see some more memorable games in the forthcoming season.

Being the home of the defending champions, the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium hosted some the biggest game of the season – the grand finale. The title-decider between Mumbai Indians and Rising Pune Supergiant was an absolute blockbuster as the Mumbai-based outfit edged out their Pune counterparts by just one run. Moreover, the attendance of fans made the games even more attractive.

Flashback: Indian Premier League 2017 Team Performances

The eleventh season of the Indian Premier League is just a handful of days away. The preparations of all teams are in full swing as they aim for the coveted title.

This year’s auction was one of the biggest in the history of the league. With the majority of the players available in the auction pool, the franchises went neck-to-neck to build the strongest possible squads.

Out of 578 players, only 169 were sold. 113 of the sold players are Indians while the remaining 56 are overseas.

Jaydev Unadkat became the most expensive Indian player after being bought by Rajasthan Royals for a whopping amount of INR 11.5 crore while Ben Stokes once again became the most expensive overseas player after being bought by the same franchise for INR 12.5 crore.

All the teams are looking strong on paper which perfectly sets up the background for the upcoming season. But before they clash this season, here is a look at how all the teams fared last season:

1. Mumbai Indians:

Mumbai Indians looked almost unstoppable throughout the tournament as their juggernaut didn’t stop as they beat Rising Pune Supergiant to become the first team to lift the IPL title thrice. They finished the league stage at the top after winning 10 of the 14 games. They lost the first Qualifier against Pune but made it to the final after beating Kolkata Knight Riders.

2. Kolkata Knight Riders:

One of the powerhouses of the league since the start of this decade, the Kolkata-based outfit enjoyed another good season last year. With eight wins out of 14 games, they finished fourth after the league stage. In the Eliminator, they defeated the then defending champions Sunrisers Hyderabad before going down to eventual winners Mumbai Indians in the second Qualifier.

3. Sunrisers Hyderabad:

The Sunrisers started the last season as the defending champions and went on to make it to the playoffs. They finished the league stage at the third position after winning 8 of the 12 games. Their season came to an end with a defeat to Kolkata Knight Riders in the Eliminator.

4. Kings XI Punjab:

The Kings XI Punjab missed out on a place in the playoffs in the last game when they lost to Rising Pune Supergiant and ended the season in 5th winning 7 out of their 14 games.

5. Royal Challengers Bangalore:

After a brilliant outing in 2016 where they made it to the finals, the Royal Challengers cut a sorry figure throughout in 2017. Plagued by several injury setbacks most notably to their star duo Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers, they finished the season with the wooden spoon after winning just three games.

6. Delhi Daredevils:

The Daredevils’ poor run of form in recent years continued last year too. While their batting lineup was filled with inexperienced but exciting youngsters, they boasted one of the best attacks in the tournaments comprising of Zaheer Khan, Mohammed Shami, Chris Morris, Pat Cummins, Kagiso Rabada, Amit Mishra, Shahbaz Nadeem and Jayant Yadav.

However, inconsistency did not allow them to progress ahead of the league stage. They ended up at the 6th position again with six wins and eight losses.

7. Chennai Super Kings:

The two-time IPL champions are making a comeback to the league this season. They served a two-year suspension due to corruption charges. In 2015, they had made it to the final and will be looking to replicate the same performance in the comeback season.

8. Rajasthan Royals:

Just like the Super Kings, the Royals also missed the last two seasons due to corruption charges. With a solid team this year, they will be looking to make their comeback season memorable.
