Mahmudullah, 35, Retires From Test Cricket

Mahmudullah, a veteran Bangladesh all-rounder, has announced his retirement from Tests after a 12-year career. The 35-year-old, who made his Test debut in 2009, featured in 50 Test matches, scoring 2914 runs at 33.49, including five centuries and 16 fifties, and took 43 wickets. He also captained Bangladesh for six Tests.

Mahmudullah Scored His Career’s Best Unbeaten 150 In His Final 50th Test

He played his 50th Test against Zimbabwe earlier this year in July at the Harare Sports Club. It was a momentous occasion for the all-rounder as he starred in Bangladesh’s 220-run win over the hosts by hitting 150* in the first innings and was adjudged Player of the Match.

In a statement, Mahmud Ullah said: “Leaving a format of which I have been a part of for such a long time is not easy. I had always thought of going on a high and I believe this is the right time to end my Test career.”

“I want to extend my gratitude to the BCB President for supporting me when I returned to the Test team. I thank my teammates and the support staff for always encouraging me and believing in my ability. It has been an absolute honour and privilege to play Test cricket for Bangladesh and I will cherish the many memories.”

Mahmudullah, who made his Test debut in the West Indies in 2009, winds up his Test career having scored almost 3000 runs at an average of 33.49, including five centuries. He also has a five-wicket haul in Test cricket, finishing with 43 wickets.

Mahmudullah Would Continue Playing ODIs And T20Is

While the BCB were pondering if Mahmudullah’s decision was just an emotional one, the batting all-rounder has made the call official. Despite quitting Test cricket, Mahmudullah has made it clear that he wants to continue featuring in ODIs and T20Is.

“Although I am retiring from Tests, I will still be playing ODIs and T20 internationals and really looking forward to continue giving my best for my country in white ball cricket.”

Mahmudullah, who made a comeback to the Test format earlier this year in Zimbabwe, had already informed his teammates that he won’t be extending his career in the longest format following his career-best 150* against the African nation in Bangladesh’s 220-run win. The right-hander made an unbeaten 150 — his fifth Test hundred — in his final innings and was named the player of the match.

Mahmudullah played the last of his 49 Tests in January 2020 before earning a recall against Zimbabwe in July 2021. He was subsequently left out of the series against Zimbabwe last year and against West Indies and Sri Lanka this year.

Mahmudullah made him unavailable from the upcoming Bangladesh Cricket League, the country’s lone franchise-based first-class zonal competition scheduled to be played from December 10.

His announcement came two days before Bangladesh is scheduled to take on Pakistan in the first game of a two-Test series in Chittagong. Mahmudullah, the Twenty20 captain of Bangladesh who was not selected for Pakistan Tests, promised to continue playing the other two formats.

Shahid Afridi Urged Bangladesh To Do Some “Soul Searching” After Pakistan Won 3-0 In T20Is

Shahid Afridi slammed Bangladesh and urged them to do some “soul searching” if they want to succeed in global cricket. Former Pakistan dashing batsman Shahid Afridi was not pleased with the pitches in Bangladesh despite his country completing a clean sweep in the three-match T20I series.

The destructive opener batter slammed the visiting country and urged them to do “some soul searching” if they want to succeed in global cricket.

Shahid Afridi Criticizes Bangladesh Pitches Saying Bangladesh Really Needs To Do Some Soul Searching

Cricket experts have heavily criticized Bangladesh cricket for making sluggish pitches during the recent tours of New Zealand and Australia to the country. Notably, ahead of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021, Bangladesh put up a great show by defeating both Australia and New Zealand in the bilateral T20I series at home.

However, Ban played horribly in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021 and lost all 5 Super12 stage games. On the other hand, New Zealand and Australia made it to the final of the T20 World Cup 2021, and the latter won their first-ever T20 World Cup title.

Shahid Afridi made the comments on Twitter, where he wrote: “Bangladesh really needs to do some soul searching, do they want to win on such pitches and give ordinary performances abroad and in World Cups? They have great talent and passion for the game but desperately need better pitches if they want to progress.”

Shahid Afridi’s comments came moments after the conclusion of the third and final T20I between both sides, which saw the contest go right to the final delivery of the match.  Meanwhile, after putting a strong show in the recently-concluded T20 World Cup, the Babar Azam-led Pakistan unit continued their impressive run in the shorter format.

Bangladesh Lost The 3 Match T20I Series 3-0

Bangladesh, who won the toss and decided to bat first in the third T20I, posted a paltry 124/7 in 20 overs, but a slow approach saw Pakistan require eight runs in the final over. Mohammad Naim top-scored for the hosts with 47 runs while Shamim Hossain and Afif Hossain contributed with 22 and 20 runs, respectively, while the rest failed to fire yet again. Mohammad Wasim and Usman Qadir picked up two wickets each for Pakistan, while debutant pacer Shahnawaz Dahani and Haris Rauf grabbed one each.

Captain Mahmudullah came on to bowl his only over of the day and dismissed Sarfaraz Ahmed and Haider Ali in consecutive deliveries before Iftikhar Ahmed smashed a huge six off the fourth ball, denying him a hat-trick.  With two runs needed off two balls, Iftikhar Ahmed went for glory but ended up being caught for six at backward point.

New batsman Mohammad Nawaz then hit a four through extra cover to take Pakistan home. Mahmudullah, who finished with 3/10, rued their total earlier with the bat.

Bangladesh faced a 3-0 series defeat against Pakistan at home, and after the defeat in the third and final T20I Shahid Afridi came up with a Tweet stating that Bangladesh needs to do some “soul searching” if they want to give good performances in away games as well as global tournaments. All three T20Is were low-scoring affairs, with visitors Pakistan claiming the three-match rubber 3-0.

3rd T20I: Pakistan 127 for 5 (Haider 45, Rizwan 40, Mahmudullah 3-10) beat Bangladesh 124 for 7 (Naim 47, Wasim 2-15, Qadir 2-35) by five wickets

Shakib Al Hasan Is Available For Scotland Match But Tired After Playing IPL: Mahmudullah

Shakib Al Hasan, fresh from Kolkata Knight Riders’ appearance in the IPL final on October 15, is “tired” but available for Bangladesh’s first match against Scotland in the T20 World Cup, confirmed captain Mahmudullah.

In the IPL 2021 second leg at UAE, Shakib Al Hasan has been a silent contributor with his bowling—pulling off spells of 1/20, 1/1, 0/24, 0/28,0/33. Like before, Shakib Al Hasan continues to be indispensable for KKR.

Shakib Al Hasan Is Available But Tired After Playing For KKR In IPL: Mahmudullah

Shakib Al Hasan played 8 matches for KKR in IPL 2021 and picked 4 scalps bowling 26 overs and managed 47 runs.

”Shakib is available. Probably he is a bit tired after coming back from the IPL but he is there with us,” Mahmudullah said.

Bangladesh, admittedly missing their full-strength squad, lost both their warm-up games but the captain said that he’s not worried about the warm-up losses but is only focused on the upcoming games for now. Bangladesh batsmen failed to get going in the practice games, finishing with scores of 147-7 and 144 all-out against Sri Lanka and Ireland respectively. They eventually lost both the matches, by four wickets and by 33 runs.

”I am not bothered what others are saying and I feel as a team we have the ability. We are not bothered about the practice games as we missed few players and now we know what we have to do,” Mahmudullah told reporters ahead of their opening encounter against Scotland.

”We will play hard cricket and if we can play to our potential result will take care of itself. We have to cross a few barriers and we want to go step by step and I hope if we can play good cricket tomorrow we can go a long way.”

Bangladesh will have to play the qualifying tournament of the ICC T20 World Cup this year. Bangladesh’s Twenty20 side defeated hosts Zimbabwe 2-1 in July, beat Australia 4-1 at home in August and completed a 3-2 series victory against New Zealand in Dhaka.

Veteran all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan says that the team will take confidence from series wins against Australia, New Zealand, and Zimbabwe. Bangladesh’s star all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan believes that series wins against Australia, New Zealand and Zimbabwe will boost their chances at the T20 World Cup despite a record that shows just one victory at the tournament since 2007.

Mahmudullah Has Full Faith In Out Of Form Mushfiqur Rahim

Mahmudullah added that he has full faith in Mushfiqur Rahim’s form and feels that he just needs to have one good match to regain his touch. Mushfiqur Rahim, who failed to be available against Australia at home for failing to report before the bio-bubble deadline, managed to score 39 runs in the five-match T20 home series against New Zealand. Furthermore, he scored 0, 13, and 4 respectively against Oman A, Sri Lanka, and Ireland.

”We are not concerned about Mushfiqur form and he will come back. He just needs one good innings to regain his form and it might be tomorrow. We all know about his capability and we fully back him.”

In Group A, Bangladesh is slotted alongside Scotland, Oman, and Papua New Guinea, and looks like they are well-placed to qualify to the Super 12 of the ICC T20 World Cup.

Bangladesh is coming into the tournament with nine T20I wins in the calendar year, only behind South Africa who have 12. In fact, since losing to New Zealand in March away from home, Bangladesh has registered series wins over Zimbabwe (2-1), Australia (4-1), and New Zealand (3-2).

And if they manage to qualify, Bangladesh will join India, Afghanistan, New Zealand, Pakistan, and the Group topper in the Super 12 and that should be incentive enough for Bangladesh.

Shoriful Islam Reprimanded For Breaching Level 1 Of The ICC Code Of Conduct

Bangladesh fast bowler Shoriful Islam has been given an official reprimand for breaching Level 1 of the ICC Code of Conduct during the third T20I against Australia in Dhaka, which the hosts won by 10 runs on Friday.

Shoriful Islam was found to have breached Article 2.5 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which relates to “using language, actions or gestures which disparage or which could provoke an aggressive reaction from a batter upon his/her dismissal during an International Match.”

Shoriful Islam After Dismissing Mitchell Marsh Celebrated Excessively In Close Proximity To Him

In addition, one demerit point has been added to the disciplinary record of Shoriful Islam, for whom it was the first offence in a 24-month period.

“The incident occurred in the 18th over of Australia’s innings. Shoriful, after dismissing Mitchell Marsh, celebrated excessively in close proximity to the batter, which could have provoked an aggressive response from Marsh,” ICC said in a statement late on Saturday.’

“Shoriful admitted the offence and accepted the sanction proposed by Neeyamur Rashid of the Emirates ICC International Panel of Match Referees and, as such, there was no need for a formal hearing.”

On-field umpires Sharfuddoula Saikat and Gazi Sohel, third umpire Masudur Rahman and fourth official Tanvir Ahmed levelled the charge. Level 1 breaches carry a minimum penalty of an official reprimand, a maximum penalty of 50 per cent of a player’s match fee, and one or two demerit points.

Shoriful Islam is an emerging pacer. The youngster has played 1 Test, 4 ODIs, and 10 T20I in which he has bagged 1, 7, and 15 wickets respectively.

Bangladesh Registers The First Series Win Against Australia Across Formats

Bangladesh has registered their first series win against Australia across formats by defeating the visitors in the first three T20Is. In all low-scoring encounters, the hosts won the first match by 23 runs, the second by 5 wickets, and the third by 10 runs. Australia managed to pull one back in the fourth by 3 wickets.

Mustafizur Rahman has been the best player so far taking 7 wickets at an average of just 8.14 and an incredible economy of 3.56. The fifth rubber is scheduled for Monday.

Nasum Ahmed is the Player of the Match for his figures of 4-0-19-4 as Bangladesh won by 23 runs in the first T20I. In the 2nd T20I, Afif Hossain scored 37 off 31 balls as Bangladesh won by 5 wickets. In the 3rd T20I, Bangladesh won by 10 runs as Mahmudullah was named  Player of the Match for his 52 off 53 balls. In the 4th T20I, Australia won by 3 wickets.

Moniruzzaman, Bangladesh Umpire Quits Umpiring After Shakib Al Hasan And Mahmudullah Lose Composure Over Umpiring Decisions

Moniruzzaman, Bangladesh umpire has decided to give up umpiring after the controversy surrounding Shakib Al Hasan and Mahmudullah in the Dhaka T20 League. Moniruzzaman wasn’t a part of the game when Mohammedan Sporting Club’s Shakib Al Hasan smashed and kicked the stumps, but he was the TV umpire when Mahmudullah lost his composure over an umpiring decision.

Even as Shakib Al Hasan was fined USD 5800 (Taka 5 lakh) and was suspended for three matches, Mahmudullah copped a fine of Taka 20,000 for his level-2 offence.

Moniruzzaman Don’t Want To Umpire Anymore

Moniruzzaman was clear-cut in saying that the umpires deserve better treatment after watching the two of the best Bangladesh cricketers losing their temper and treating umpires poorly.

“Enough is enough for me and I don’t want to umpire anymore. Umpires can make mistakes but if we are treated in this manner, there is no point in doing it anymore because I am not in it just for the money,” Moniruzzaman told Cricbuzz.

“I was not involved in Shakib’s game. The way he behaved was something very hard for me to digest. In the Mahmudullah match, I was the TV umpire and watching the episode closely. It left me numb and at that point, I decided not to carry on with umpiring,” he stated.

Mahmudullah, the captain of Ghazi Tank Cricketers, laid down on the ground making an appeal during a match against Prime Bank Cricket Club.

Mahmudullah was found guilty of a Level-2 offence and was fined Taka two lakhs. Shakib Al Hasan’s temper flared up on two different occasions in one Dhaka Premier League (DPL) match between Mohammedan Sporting franchise’s game against Abahani Limited when he first kicked the stumps, and later uprooted a whole set of them and flung them to the ground.

Moniruzzaman Was Doing Umpiring For The Love Of Cricket Since He Got Just The Match Fee

Moniruzzaman, who was a part of Bangladesh’s ICC Emerging Panel, was employed with a private company and picked up umpiring for the passion of cricket. But the recent incidents surrounding Bangladesh cricket’s stalwarts have left him absolutely stunned.

“I am not an employee of the BCB and considering the money the umpires get from the board, I cannot take this. I was doing it out of love for the game because I used to get just the match fee. I am fortunate nothing untoward happened with me so far but who knows I might be a subject of humiliation in the next game,” he added.

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), in the meantime, has confirmed Moniruzzaman’s retirement. Back in 2003, Moniruzzaman had played two ODIs for his country. Overall, he played 27 first-class and 18 List A matches where he scored over 1,500 runs with two centuries and seven fifties with a top score of 151. He also picked up three wickets in red-ball cricket.

Mahmudullah Recalled To Bangladesh Test Squad

Mahmudullah has been recalled to the Bangladesh Test squad after an absence of over a year. The 35-year-old batsman, who is the captain of the Bangladesh T20I team, last played a Test in February 2020.

Injuries to senior players keeper Mushfiqur Rahim and Tamim Iqbal led to the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) turning to Mahmudullah.

Mahmudullah Returns To The Test Squad While Shakib Al Hasan Whose Last T20I Came In September 2019 Returns To T20I Squad

Mahmudullah played the last of his 49 Tests in January 2020, against Pakistan in Rawalpindi, and was subsequently left out of the series against Zimbabwe last year and against West Indies and Sri Lanka this year. Mahmudullah was also among a handful of cricketers to be given a white-ball-only central contract in 2020.

He averages 31.77 amassing 2764 runs from 93 innings in 49 Tests but was inconsistent and didn’t show much sign of improvement in the lead-up to his axing. He was in form in early 2019, scoring 22, 146, 13, and 67 in the two-Test series in New Zealand, but then had a top score of 39* in four Test matches, where he totalled only 109 runs in eight innings. Though out of the red-ball side, the 35-year-old has been a regular in the Bangladesh white-ball teams.

“During an emergency meeting yesterday that included the selectors, the board president (Nazmul Hassan) and myself, we decided that we can’t take a chance with the injuries,” BCB cricket operations chairman Akram Khan is quoted as saying.

“Because of the situation, we decided to make the squad bigger. We are 80 percent sure that he (Rahim) can play, but we don’t want to take a chance. We want to have a backup batsman in the squad.”

The Zimbabwe tour also marks the return of all-rounder and former captain Shakib Al Hasan to the Bangladesh Test and T20I squads. Shakib Al Hasan last played a Test match against West Indies in February.

He missed the three Tests against Sri Lanka as he was playing for the Kolkata Knight Riders in the 2021 Indian Premier League before the tournament was postponed due to a bio-bubble breach. His last T20I came in September 2019, after which a thigh injury forced him out of Bangladesh’s tour of New Zealand.

Bangladesh Plays Zimbabwe In 1 Test, 3 ODIs And 3 T20Is

Tamim Iqbal also returns to the T20I squad after taking leave from the New Zealand tour. Bangladesh plays Zimbabwe in one Test, three ODIs, and as many T20Is in a tour that will last from July 7 to July 27.

Tamim Iqbal withdrew from the Super League stage of Prime Bank Cricket Club’s campaign in the Dhaka Premier League (DPL) after suffering a knee injury, while Mushfiqur Rahim has a fractured finger, which he sustained last week while playing in a DPL match. The wicket-keeper batsman, in a major blow to Bangladesh, had fractured his index finger ahead of the Zimbabwe series.

Mushfiqur Rahim was the top scorer in the recently-concluded 3-match ODI series against Sri Lanka at home. He scored 237 runs in the three matches and helped Bangladesh win their first ODI series against Sri Lanka by scoring 125 in the second ODI.

Bangladesh Cricket Board cricket operations chairman Akram Khan said Tamim Iqbal and Mushfiqur Rahim are recovering from injuries, and thus added Mahmudullah for his experience. Mahmudullah has played 49 Tests scoring 2764 runs at an average of 31.77. He has also picked up 43 wickets.

Shakib Al Hasan Has Been The No. 1 ODI All-Rounder For The Last 10-12 Years: Bangladesh Teammate Mahmudullah

Shakib Al Hasan’s career is laden with numerous milestones from being the youngest centurion in ODIs and becoming the youngest ODI captain, both at the age of 22, to most Player of the Series awards in T20Is (3).

He, without a shred of a doubt, will be remembered as one of the greatest all-rounders in the history of the sport. His exploits for the Bangladesh cricket team have helped his side fight it out with other international teams in the world as he has played an instrumental role in the meteoric rise of Bangladesh cricket.

Shakib Al Hasan’s Return Has Been Uninspiring

However, he hasn’t been near his best lately. Before IPL 2021 came to an abrupt halt due to the Covid-19 crisis in India and multiple positive cases within numerous franchises, Shakib Al Hasan could score 38 runs in three matches for his newly acquired franchise Kolkata Knight Riders. As a result, he has been dropped soon after.

Moreover, he carried the poor form to the ongoing ODI series against Sri Lanka. Even his team has already sealed the series after winning the first two games, Shakib Al Hasan’s return has been uninspiring. The 34-year-old has only scored 15 runs in two matches at a strike rate of less than 50.

With the ball, however, he has been better. In the ongoing series in Dhaka, he has picked up three wickets and in IPL 2021, he claimed two. Not highly impressive but he’s been a tad better with the ball.

In the 2019 World Cup, he scored 606 runs along with 11 wickets – statistics that truly highlight his value. Picked by the Kolkata Knight Riders in 2011, he was an important part of their two title-winning sides in 2012 and 2014. The 34-year-old was bought by his former franchise for 3.2 crores in the players’ auction in February 2021. He missed the 2020 IPL edition on account of being banned for a year for not reporting corrupt offenses.

Shakib Al Hasan has so far played four 50 overs World Cups for Bangladesh since the 2007 edition. While he captained Bangladesh in the 2011 World Cup, the 2019 edition turned out to be individually his most successful one, when he scored 606 runs and picked up 11 wickets. But in spite of Shakib Al Hasan’s outstanding performances both with bat and ball, Bangladesh finished 8th out of 10 teams in the last World Cup in England and Wales.

Shakib Al Hasan Has Been The No. 1 All-Rounder For The Last 10-12 Years : Mahmudullah

As Shakib Al Hasan strives to find his rhythm, his teammate and fellow all-rounder Mahmudullah has come out to support him. While speaking to The Daily Star, he said that Shakib Al Hasan was the best ODI all-rounder for more than a decade for a reason.

“There is not much to say about Shakib. He knows his game. It is no joke that a guy has been the number one [ODI] all-rounder for the last 10-12 years. He knows when to bat and how much batting [practice] will benefit him. He got a good start in the first ODI, but unfortunately, he could not cash in on it. But I am certain that he will play better in tomorrow’s game.”

Bangladesh secured their first-ever ODI series win against Sri Lanka in the second ODI. They would now look to make it three in three and secure 10 more points for their ICC Cricket World Cup Super League tally. Bangladesh’s Mushfiqur Rahim was the star performer in both the ODIs, scoring 84 in the 1st and then 125 in the 2nd ODI. Bangladesh won by 33 runs in the 1st ODI and by 103 runs in the 2nd one decided by Duckworth-Lewis.

Bangladesh has attained the pole position in the ICC Cricket World Cup Super League points table with a historic win against Sri Lanka. The Tamim Iqbal-led outfit took an unassailable 2-0 lead in the 3-match series against Sri Lanka. Bangladesh now has 50 points in the ICC Cricket World Cup Super League. Sri Lanka continues to be in the last position with -2 points in five outings.

2nd ODI:- Bangladesh 246 (Rahim 125, Mahmudullah 41, Chameera 3-44) beat Sri Lanka 141-9 (Rahman 3-16, Miraz 3-28) by 103 runs(DLS)

1st ODI:- Bangladesh 257 for 6 (Mushfiqur 84, Mahmudullah 54, Tamim 52, Dhananjaya 3-45) beat Sri Lanka 224 all out (Hasaranga 74, Mehidy Hasan Miraz 4-30) by 33 runs

New Zealand Seal 3-0 Win Over Bangladesh Following A Thumping Win In Third ODI

New Zealand’s Trent Boult is one of the most agile fielders currently in cricket. Despite being a pacer, he puts his best in the field, and in the past has grabbed some stunning catches. Trent Boult ran good 15-20m and made a full-stretch dive to take a one-handed catch of Bangladesh’s Liton Das, during the third ODI against Bangladesh in Wellington.

Meanwhile, an interesting dismissal occurred during the 2nd ODI between New Zealand and Bangladesh in Hagley Oval, Christchurch on Tuesday. Kiwi all-rounder James Neesham got Bangladesh skipper Tamim Iqbal run out in a cheeky way that has left several fans awestruck.

New Zealand Wins 3rd ODI Against Bangladesh By 164 Runs And Clean Sweeps Series 3-0

Earlier in the 2nd ODI, Bangladesh was invited to bat first and was at 130/2 in the 31st over. Opener Liton Das went for a duck while coming in at third Soumya Sarkar made 32 and assisted Tamim Iqbal before he was sent back. Meanwhile, Tamim Iqbal had earlier survived a close call when he was given not out by the third umpire. He made good use of the lifeline offered and went on to score 78 runs off 108 deliveries. Bangladesh finally scored 271/6.

The veteran batsman was set and looked to convert his impressive score into a century, but a mix up in the middle with Mushfiqur Rahim saw him walk back to the dugout. In the 31st over, the duo attempted to steal a single when Mushfiqur Rahim dropped the ball down in the crease near Tamim Iqbal and called for a single run.

The Bangladesh skipper who was at the non-striker’s end responded but was unaware of James Neesham’s fancy footwork. The Kiwi all-rounder quickly ran forward and flicked the ball with his left leg onto the stumps. His attempt was full of precision as the ball hit the stumps and left Tamim Iqbal run out as he was found short of his crease.

New Zealand’s Devon Conway Stars With The Bat As He Was Awarded MOM And MOS

South Africa’s Devon Conway, 29, made his way into the New Zealand cricket set up last year. A predominant top-order batsman for Wellington who opens the batting in T20s, Devon Conway has already become a star for his domestic side and for the Black Caps. Just a few months into his international career, he has sealed his position in the New Zealand top order.

According to all-rounder and current teammate James Neesham, Devon Conway could rise up the ranks and open for New Zealand ahead of the two T20 World Cups scheduled at India and Australia. Devon Conway went unsold in the IPL 2021 Auction even though he had set the base price at Rs. 50 lakh.

Devon Conway amassed 225 runs in 3 ODIs averaging 75 and was the leading scorer. He scored 126 off 110 balls with 17 hits to the fence as he along with Daryl Mitchell who remained unbeaten on 100 helped New Zealand post a total of 318/6 in the stipulated 50 overs.

Mahmudullah Tests COVID-19 Positive; Set To Miss Pakistan Super League Playoffs

Bangladesh T20I captain Mahmudullah, who was signed as the replacement of Moeen Ali by Pakistan Super League (PSL) franchise Multan Sultans, has tested positive for the coronavirus which is why he will now not feature in playoffs scheduled to start from November 14.

Only the playoffs, comprising of four matches, were left to play in the PSL as the group stage had already been played in February before the coronavirus outbreak. The pandemic had halted the league, and thus, it was postponed. Now, Pakistan had got the window to host the remaining crucial encounter to decide the winner of this season.

Notably, PSL 2020 is the first season being hosted in Pakistan while the other past editions since inauguration were organised in the UAE.

“I am now taking rest in a separate room. I am a little worried about my wife and kids. I am seeking everyone’s prayers for quick recovery and for my family’s well-being,” he added.
