AS Roma Join AC Milan For The Signature Of Manchester United Defender Eric Bailly

Serie A giants AS Roma have registered their interest in Manchester United defender Eric Bailly and exploring a chance to sign him on loan or permanent deal this month. Rivals AC Milan are also keeping tabs on Ivorian centre-back who is struggling for game time at Old Trafford.

The 27-year-old ball-playing defender arrived at Old Trafford from Villarreal in 2016 for a reported transfer fee of £30 million. He featured in 25 Premier League matches during his debut season but in the last 4 years, he never made more than 13 league appearances. Injuries and fitness issues are there but lately, he has been warming the bench even if he is fit.

Raphael Varane, Harry Maguire, and Victor Lindelof are rotating for the centre-back pair by manager Ralf Rangnick and former boss Ole Gunnar Solksjaer. Bailly has made just 4 Premier League appearances this season and has been overlooked by management despite below-average performances from Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof. Manchester United currently sit at 4th position in the league table with 38 points from 22 matches, both Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur are just 2 points behind with extra games in hand.

AS Roma And AC Milan To Fight For Eric Bailly This Week:

Italian giants AC Milan and AS Roma have registered genuine interest in Bailly and looking to finalise the deal before the transfer window gets closed in the next 6 days. Roma are fighting for the top-four position finish in Serie A this season and AC Milan are mounting a title challenge once again. But Eric Bailly will find it difficult to directly break into the first team at San Siro, who have better quality defenders compared to the Ivorian.

But AS Roma manager Jose Mourinho can offer regular first-team football to Bailly. Giallorossi are playing with 3 centre-back formation and only Mourinho has been rotating players around regular starter Gianluca Mancini. Both Chris Smalling and Roger Ibanez are struggling to perform at the highest level. According to a report from Foot Mercato, Jose Mourinho is a big admirer of Eric Bailly and looking to sign the defender on a short loan deal this month. Bailly signed a contract extension at the start of the last year and has two and half years remaining on his Old Trafford stay.

It was Jose Mourinho who signed Eric Bailly during his managerial stint with Manchester United. Eric Bailly will surely push for this move as his former teammate Chris Smalling’s revived after shifting to Italian capitals. Roma also secured full-back Ainsley Maitland-Niles on loan from Arsenal last week and looking to sign his teammate Granit Xhaka this month to boost their chances for the top-four race this season.

Sevilla Beat Juventus And Newcastle United To Sign Manchester United Forward Anthony Martial

La Liga giants Sevilla confirmed the signing of Manchester United forward Anthony Martial on a six-month loan. But surprisingly, there is no buy-clause involved in this deal, so the French forward will be returning to Old Trafford this summer. This will be a perfect choice for Martial to show his worth with one of the best clubs in Europe, who are challenging the La Liga title this season.

The 26-year-old forward arrived at Old Trafford for a transfer fee of £57 million from Ligue 1 giants AS Monaco, then the highest transfer fee was paid for teenagers. Martial was an instant hit at Old Trafford where he scored 11 and assisted 7 goals in 31 appearances but then he struggled with injuries and fitness issues. He scored 17 league goals in 32 matches during the 2019-20 season but was overlooked by manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer for the last two years where he scored just 5 goals in 30 league matches.

Sevilla will draft Anthony Martial in attack ahead of Rafa Mir
Sevilla will draft Anthony Martial in attack ahead of Rafa Mir

Manchester United signed Cristiano Ronaldo and Jadon Sancho last summer which further restricted his first-team chances this season. Martial has made just 8 league appearances and has scored just 1 goal this season. This month he was determined for Manchester United exit after failing to impress new manager Ralf Rangnick. Many clubs approached Red Devils to enquire about the player’s availability this month but United rejected all offers initially, including Sevilla’s loan offer.

Sevilla are placed second in the La Liga table this season, just 4 points behind leaders Real Madrid. They dropped points in their last two league matches and failed a chance to overtake Los Blancos. Sevilla are having the best defensive record in La Liga with just 16 goals conceded in 22 matches, but they have scored just 34 goals, the lowest among top-four teams. Star forward Youssef En-Nesyri is struggling with injuries and rotational striker Rafa Mir has scored just 6 times in 20 matches. Anthony Martial will definitely get regular game time under manager Julen Lopetegui at Sevilla and will boost their chances to win the La Liga title for the first time in 77 years.

More Exits At Manchester United This Month?

Manchester United are in the market for a new holding midfielder, centre-back, and striker, and linked with multiple targets this month. But it looks unlikely that they will pull any deal in the next six days but fans can expect more exits after Martial’s departure on loan. The likes of Donny Van de Beek, Jesse Lingard, Juan Mata, Nemanja Mata, Phile Jones, and Eric Bailly are struggling to get regular minutes at Old Trafford but none of them is expected to leave on a permanent basis this month.

Donny Van de Beek and Jesse Lingard to leave Manchester United in January?

Manchester United have received offers for both Lingard and De Beek but Red Devils are worried about their rotational options if they depart this month. Lingard has just six months available on his contract and is looking to leave the club on a free transfer this June. Newcastle United, Tottenham Hotspur, and West Ham United are very much interested in signing an English winger this month but Red Devils are yet to decide on their stance. Dutch midfielder Donny van de Beek is also pushing hard for Old Trafford’s exit this month and Barcelona are one of the clubs interesting in a January loan deal for the player.

Manchester United ready to listen to offers for Harry Maguire and Aaron Wan-Bissaka

Manchester United Willing To Listen To Offers For Harry Maguire And Aaron Wan-Bissaka

Manchester United are looking to sell their most-expensive defensive signings Harry Maguire and Aaron Wan-Bissaka this summer. Maguire cost Manchester United £94 million in 2019 to become the most-expensive centre-back and Wan-Bissaka cost £54 million in 2019 to become the most-expensive right-back in the world. But both English defenders have struggled to live up to their transfer fees and fans’ expectations at Old Trafford.

The 28-year-old English international was given skipper duties by manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer just after six months on his arrival. But Maguire struggled with his leadership skills, often getting cards(21 yellow cards and 1 red card in since the last season), and recently lost his dressing room as well.

Maguire was dropped for two consecutive matches last week, which was a clear sign from manager Ralf Rangnick that his place in the team is not irreplaceable anymore. But he was included in the squad for West Ham United clash yesterday to partner Raphael Varane in the absence of Victor Lindelof.

Maguire has been criticized by former Manchester United captains Roy Keane, Eric Cantona, and Gary Neville on many occasions. But now it understands that the club is also losing patience with the former Leicester City star. According to a report from the Fichajes, Manchester United management is looking to offload Maguire who is valued at just £40 million, less than half of what they paid for him two years ago. Maguire has made 18 Premier League appearances this season but hasn’t scored or assisted any goal yet.

Manchester United Are Considering Aaron Wan-Bissaka Sell But Label Diogo Dalot ‘Untouchable’:

The same report also states that Manchester United right-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka is also been made available for the transfer this season. The 24-year-old defensive full-back arrived from Crystal Palace in 2019 and was a regular starter under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer despite his inconsistency while going forward down the right wing.

Ralf Rangnick has drafted the 22-year-old Portuguese defender Diogo Dalot in the right-back position lately and the former Porto star has been sensational down the right-wing. He won the man of the match award against Brentford and was also impressed in yesterday’s West Ham win with a clean sheet. Dalot was linked with a summer transfer move to Bundesliga giants Borussia Dortmund but he rejected a good offer to fight for his place at Old Trafford.

Wan-Bissaka will find it tough to win his regular spot in Ralf Rangnick’s first-team and will consider an exit if any club shows interest this summer. Both Maguire and Wan-Bissaka will struggle to find new clubs due to their high wages at Manchester United but will be given chances to impress and prove their worth in the next four months.

English Premier League Matchday 23 saw Liverpool and Chelsea taking advantage after Manchester City dropped points against Southampton. Manchester United returned to the top-four position for the first time since the arrival of new manager Ralf Rangnick. Arsenal, Leicester City, and Tottenham Hotspur also lose points in the top-four race. In the relegation battle, Newcastle United recorded their second win of the season to move up to 18th position.

There are some big changes at both ends of the league table and some surprise results for leaders Manchester City and last-placed Newcastle United. Let’s review English Premier League Matchday 23 results.

Manchester City Drop Points Against Southampton:

League leaders Manchester City dropped 2 points against Southampton after a 1-1 draw at St. Mary Stadium on Saturday evening. The Saints took an early lead with full-back Kyle Walker-Peters scoring the first goal at 7′ minutes into the match. But Spanish centre-back Aymeric Laporte scored the equalizer with a free header in the second half to rescue a point for the champions.

This ended Manchester City’s 12 games winning streak but more importantly, dropping two points at this stage is a worrying sign for manager Pep Guardiola. Liverpool are not much behind the league table and any more slip-ups will boost the Reds’ chances to the title chase. The Citizens now sit at top of the table with 57 points from the opening 23 matches, still 9 points ahead of second-placed Liverpool. Manchester City face Championship side Fulham in the FA Cup fourth round fixture next Saturday at Etihad Stadium.

Liverpool And Chelsea Record Important Wins To Close Gap With Manchester City:

Liverpool and Chelsea, whose respective fixtures were scheduled on Sunday, capitalized on Manchester City’s draw on Saturday. The Reds won by 1-3 against Crystal Palace away after a dominating display at Selhurst Park Stadium. World-class centre-back Virgil van Dijk scored the opener at 8′ minute and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlian scored another to take 0-2 lead in the first half. French forward Odsonne Edouard pulled one back for the hosts at the start of the second half to put pressure on Liverpool. But Liverpool won and scored another late goal via penalty to ensure important three points. This win brought Liverpool to just 9 points closer to Manchester City with an extra game in hand as well.

Chelsea against Tottenham Hotspur was the biggest game of this matchday 27 and Blues won by 2-0 at home to remain in the title race. Both managers Thomas Tuchel and Antonio Conte changed the formation for this London Derby due to their latest defensive woes. Both teams lacked intensity in the first half but the Blues dominated the second half with possession and chances created. Hakim Ziyech scored a stunning goal from the edge of the Spurs box and veteran defender Thiago Silva scored a thumping header to end Chelsea’s winning drought in the last four matches.

The Blues are still 10 points behind the Citizens and also have played an extra game, but this was a much-needed result for Thomas Tuchel. Chelsea face Plymouth Argyle and Liverpool face Cardiff City at home in FA Cup fourth round fixture next Saturday.

Manchester United Capitalize As Arsenal, West Ham United, Tottenham Hotspur, And Leicester City Drop Points:

Manchester City, Liverpool, and Chelsea will definitely finish in the top-three position in the Premier League table. So the race for the fourth spot is becoming more fierce after every matchday as there are at least 5 teams competing for this one position. Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford scored a 93′ minute winner to earn three points in a 1-0 win against West Ham United at Old Trafford. These three points boost them from 7th position to 4th and this is the first time Ralf Rangnick has been in the top-four position since his arrival. West Ham United slipped to 5th position but just a point separate them from the Red Devils.

Gunners missed a chance to regain their 4th position as they were held by relegation bound side Burnely at home in a 0-0 draw. Mikel Arteta’s side now sit in 6th position with 36 points, just 2points behind Manchester United, and also have a game in hand. Tottenham Hotspur also have 36 points after this matchday 23 but have played 2 games less than Red Devils.

Leicester City, who were an early contender for the top-four race, now struggling in 10th position after another disappointing display against Brighton and Hove Albion. The Foxes conceded a late goal by Danny Welbeck in a 1-1 draw at home which denied them crucial 3 points. Brendan Rodgers’ side now have just 26 points from the opening 20 matches, 12 points behind Manchester United. This definitely hampered their ay hope for the top-four race but the Foxes can now try to finish in the top-six to qualify for the next season Europa League.

Newcastle United Record Their First Win Of The Year:

All the eyes are on Newcastle United this season since they become the richest football club in the world two months ago. Their unexpected performances at the start of the season have put them in the relegation battle but the current winter window has given them the necessary boost to survive the relegation from the Premier League this season. Manager Eddie Howe spent big to sign Chris Wood and Kieran Trippier this month and working on other deals as well.

Real Madrid rejected Manchester United's offer for Federico Valverde

Manchester United Fail With Their £50 Million Offer For Real Madrid Midfielder Federico Valverde

Real Madrid midfielders Luca Modric and Federico Valverde have been linked with a Premier League move this month but now it has been reported that both players will be staying at Santiago Bernabeu. Manchester United are chasing Valverde for the last two transfer windows and now have a big offer rejected by Real Madrid this month. Manchester City are interested in signing Luca Modric on a free transfer but the Croatian veteran has looking to end his career at Real Madrid.

Manchester United are in the market for two new central midfielders as Ralf Rangnick has not impressed with current options since his arrival at Old Trafford last month. Scott McTominay and Fred, who former midfield partnership during previous manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s era, continue to start under Rangnick as well. Nemanja Matic is a third-choice central midfielder recently due to the long-term injury to Paul Pogba. But the Frenchman was present at the club’s lastest training session and is expected to return to the pitch next week.

But the 28-year-old former Juventus star has just six months remaining on his Manchester United contract and the player is not in favor to extend his stay beyond summer. Manchester United are also aware of Pogba’s situation and looking out for his replacements this month. If Manchester United finish in the top-four position this season and Pogba extends his contract then United are focusing on signing only one holding midfielder.

Real Madrid Label Manchester United Target Federico Valverde ‘Non-Transferable’:

Red Devils are linked with Ruben Neves, Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, and Declan Rice but no official contact has been made so far. Denis Zakaria is also strongly linked with Manchester United move this month who will be a free agent in the summer. But Rangnick’s side are facing a lot of competition for the Borussia Monchengladbach star so they have turned their attention to Real Madrid midfielder Federico Valverde.

Valverde has been at Real Madrid for the last five years but has never been a first-team regular due to the current midfield trio of Casemiro, Modric, and Toni Kroos. Los Blancos also signed highly-rated French international Eduardo Camavinga last summer which restricted Valverde’s appearances but Carlo Ancelotti has been opting for Valverde in his first eleven and shaping him and Camavinga for the future roles.

According to a report from El Nacional, Real Madrid have rejected Manchester United’s £50 million offer for the player and will not be entertaining further offers. They have informed the Red Devils that the player is ‘not-transferable’ at any cost. The 23-year-old Uruguayan international signed a new contract with Real Madrid last summer which ends in 2027. Valverde scored his first goal of the season last week which came as an extra-time winner against Barcelona in the Supercopa de Espana’s semi-finals fixture.

Ronaldo And Rangnick Exchange Words Over Brentford Substitution As Manchester United Won By 1-3

Manchester United’s off-the-pitch problems are not going to end soon as another disturbing incident happened during the club’s 1-3 Premier League win over Brentford yesterday. Star player Cristiano Ronaldo seemed angry at manager Ralf Rangnich when he was substituted in the second half. He was spotted stating, ‘why me?’ at the German head coach and the latter also hit back at Ronaldo with some words.

Cristiano Ronaldo missed his last two matches due to a back injury but was drafted into the starting eleven against Brentford. He started in the number nine role in place of Edinson Cavani, Scott McTominay also came back into the squad after missing the last match due to suspension in place of Nemanja Matic. But the biggest team news for Manchester United was the skipper Harry Maguire being on the bench again. Maguire is struggling for form this season and now seems like lost his place to Victor Lindelof, who has impressed with Raphael Varane in the last two matches.

Ronaldo reacted while his Brentford Substitution

Brentford dominated the first half with plenty of chances but failed to convert any into a goal. But the Red Devils started with Ronaldo coming close to scoring two goals in the first two minutes. His first strike was blocked by Sorensen and second off the bar. But it was a youngster Anthony Elanga who scored the first goal of the match at 55′ minutes on the clock. Seven minutes later Mason Greenwood scored the second goal for them to extend the lead to 0-2. Rangnick then made two substitutes, Rashford replacing Greenwood and Maguire coming on for Ronaldo.

Ronaldo, who missed the last two matches, and is now being substituted without scoring a goal, was not happy with this decision. He mumbled something while reaching toward the bench and avoided shaking hands with the manager. But a minute later, he threw off his training tracksuit in frustration and was spotted shaking his head.

Rashford scored the 3rd goal for the United just six minutes later to ensure three points.  Brentford striker Ivan Toney scored a consolation goal at 85′ minutes but it was too late for them for any comeback hopes in a 1-3 loss.

Ralf Rangnick Explained Why He Substituted Ronaldo:

Ralf Rangnick, in his post-match talks, explained his decision to substitute Ronaldo. He also insisted that there is no issue of any kind with Ronaldo and it has been resolved when he talked to the player after the 3rd goal.

“He was asking why me and why do you take me off, I said, ‘listen, I have to take the decision in the interest of the team and the club and we had exactly the same situation five days ago at Villa Park, being 2-0 up with 15 minutes to play and we didn’t want to make the same mistake again.” -Rangnick on Ronaldo substitution.

Ronaldo has scored 14 goals and assisted 3 in 22 appearances for Manchester United this season but his efforts haven’t added to the club’s current situation. Recently, the Sun reported that he has instructed his representative to finalize Manchester United exit this summer if the club fail to finish in top-four.

Ralf Rangnick Backs Pogba And Gives Update On Jadon Sancho’s Struggles At Manchester United

Manchester United manager Ralf Rangnick has backed Paul Pogba despite the player’s contract situation at the club. Pogba missed the majority of the first half of the season due to injury but is set to return to training in the coming days and feature in their next feature. Ralf Ranick also insisted that Jadon Sancho”s struggles are all in his mind and he is one of the best players at the training sessions recently.

The French star has just 6 months remaining on his Old Trafford contract and there have been no talks going on between the club and player. Pogba will be 29 of age in two months and tieing him for a big and improved contract will backfire at Manchester United management. The advanced playmaker has also been looking for another challenge is likely to join either Paris Saint-Germain or Real Madrid this summer.

Paul Pogba set to return from his injury this week
Paul Pogba set to return from his injury this week

But recent rumors of him signing a contract extension after a meeting with manager Ralf Rangnick have surfaced this week. When reporters asked the German head coach, he backed the player to impress in the second half of the season and not to think about his contract situation. Even Rangnick has just 5 months on his contract with the club as Red Devils hired him as a temporary solution. If Rangnick manages to finish this season in top-four then management is planning to offer him a long-term contract.

“Even if it’s for only showing up for a new contract elsewhere, I mean, he will be highly motivated to do that. Why should I then not play him? For me, it’s not a question if a player has an expiring contract. The question is how much does he still want to be a part of this group? How much does he still feel emotionally and physically on board?” – Ralf Rangnick on Paul Pogba’s contract.

Pogba is returning to the training and can be a key factor for Rangnick to turn things around at Old Trafford. They sit in 7th position in the Premier League table with just 32 points from the opening 20 matches, 5 points behind 4th placed West Ham United. North London giants Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur are new favorites to finish this season in the fourth position as Manchester City, Liverpool, and Chelsea are certain to finish in top-three positions. Paul Pogba, Cristiano Ronaldo, Edinson Cavani will be leaving the club in the summer if they finish this season without Champions League qualification.

‘It’s All In His Head’, Ralf Rangnick On Jadon Sancho’s Struggles At Manchester United:

Jadon Sancho made his long-waited switch to Manchester United last summer for a transfer fee of £77 million from Borussia Dortmund. But it has been a nightmare debut for the 21-year-old English forward as he has scored just 2 goals and no assist in 23 appearances in Red Devils colors.

Ralf Rangnick states reasons for Sancho's struggles at Manchester United
Ralf Rangnick states reasons for Sancho’s struggles at Manchester United

Ralf Rangnick believes that the Premier League move at this young age with a lot of expectations at one of the biggest clubs have affected the player’s performances. Rangnick who himself arrived from Bundesliga, states that there is a big difference to compete psychologically and physically in the Premier League compared to Bundesliga.

“The level of expectation was a lot lower compared to the situation when, at the age of 21, you come to a club like Manchester United for a high transfer fee, with a high level of expectation.” – Rangnick on Jadon Sancho.

Rangnick also cleared out the player’s commitment at the club by stating Sancho is one of the best performers in the recent training sessions and he needs to convert those in the matches.

“Whenever I see him train, he’s showing that he’s one of the best players in the training sessions, I said that to him, by the way, the day before yesterday. ‘Confirm the performances you show in training when you’re playing on the pitch.”

Manchester United Target Jude Bellingham And John McGinn Ahead Of Declan Rice In The Summer

Manchester United are sure to sign a new central midfielder in the upcoming summer with two names linked most recently. English Premier League giants have shortlisted Aston Villa midfielder John McGinn who is valued at £40 million by the Red Devils and looking to bid for him if they fail to sign key targets in the summer. Another name on their shortlist is Borussia Dortmund star Jude Bellingham and they looking to make him a priority target over West Ham United midfielder Declan Rice.

Red Devils are linked with plenty of midfield options recently and there were rumors of them getting close to signing Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder Denis Zakaria, but now they are looking at other options as well. Their midfield shortlist has grown and it looks like Manchester United will be signing two key midfielders in the summer as Paul Pogba is once again linked with Old Trafford exit rumors. Nemanja Matic is also expected to leave in the summer on a free transfer. Fred and Scott McTominay have impressed new manager Ralf Rangnick and he has tipped McTominay for a future captaincy role as well.

Manchester United to bid for Aston Villa midfielder John McGinn in the summer

Manchester United are looking to sign one holding midfielder and one deep-lying midfielder to partner Bruno Fernandes in the midfield. John McGinn will be a perfect choice for them due to his versatility in the midfield. Jude Bellingham will cost almost double McGinn and he is reportedly a big fan of bitter-rivals Liverpool, who are also looking to bid for the England international in the summer. Manchester United are struggling in the Premier League this season despite spending big in the last summer but the biggest worry for them is the ongoing dressing room debacle.

Aston Villa Are Not Ready To Sell McGinn And Liverpool Are Favorites To Sign Bellingham:

According to a report from the Telegraph, Aston Villa manager Steven Gerrard is adamant about keeping McGinn at Villa Park at any cost and has urged the club to not entertain any offers for the Scottish international. The 27-year-old Scotland midfielder arrived at Villa in 2018 and has been excellent for them recently. He has formed a formidable partnership with Douglas Luiz and Jacob Ramsey at the centre of midfield and is looking to stay with the Villans in the near future.

Aston Villa recently signed two big-name players Phillipe Coutinho on loan and Lucas Digne from Everton. Aston Villa had an unforgettable first half of this season but the arrival of manager Steven Gerrard has revived their chances to finish in the top-six and new signings Coutinho and Digne will be crucial for that. Both former Barcelona players made their debut against Manchester United two days ago and impressed in a 2-2 draw at home.

Borussia Dortmund star Jude Bellingham has established himself as one the best midfielder for the future since his emergence last season. The 18-year-0ld box-to-box midfielder has already cemented his place in England’s national team alongside Declan Rice and Liverpool skipper Jordan Henderson in midfield. According to a report from The Athletic, Red Devils have made him their number one target for the summer ahead of their former target Declan Rice.

Liverpool are also strongly linked with Bellingham and are likely to win his signature next summer. Liverpool can offer regular and more Champions League football compared to their arch-rivals. Bellingham is a childhood Liverpool fan and that will be a decisive factor in the summer as both Reds and Red Devils will be having a bidding war for the former Birmingham youngster who has scored 3 goals and assisted 6 more in 17  Bundesliga matches.

Manchester United Join Liverpool And Chelsea For The Signature Of Barcelona Defender Ronald Araujo

Manchester United have joined the race for the signature of Barcelona centre-back Ronald Araujo. Other Premier League giants Liverpool and Chelsea are also keeping tabs on the player’s contract situation at Camp Nou. Araujo has just 18 months remaining on his contract and the Catalan giants are looking to offload the player to ease their financial situation.

The 22-year-old Uruguayan centre-back arrived at Barcelona from Boston River for a transfer fee of just €1.7 million in 2018. But was slotted in the Barcelona B team after his eventful debut where he was sent off for his tackle on Javier Hernandez just after 13 minutes. But this season he has been a first-choice to partner Gerard Pique in the centre of defence ahead of the likes of Clement Lenglet, Samuel Umtiti, and Oscar Mingueza.

Araujo has scored 2 goals in 15 La Liga appearances this season and has been a regular starter in Xavi’s first eleven. He is one of the few players who have been consistent despite the team’s struggle on every front in every competition.

Barcelona are currently sitting in 6th position in the league table with just 32 points from the opening 20 matches. They are just 2 points behind 3rd placed Real Betis but 17 points behind leaders Real Madrid, so any hope for the La Liga title race is already over. They are already out of the Champions League tournament and will be playing in Europa League where they are drawn against Napoli.  They also lost to Real Madrid at home in Supercopa de Espana in their last match.

Manchester United Determined On Signing Ronald Araujo This Summer:

According to Spanish outlet Marca, Manchester United and Chelsea are keeping a close eye on players’ contract situation with Barcelona. Araujo is on much less wages compared to his teammates at Camp Nou and is looking for an improved contract offer. But Barcelona are haven’t prioritized any contract extension for him or any other player due to the club’s financial condition.

Barcelona lost many key players last season due to their dire finances but still signed Ferran Torres from Machester City for a reported fee of £46 million two weeks ago. To register their new signing Barcelona were forced to loan out Philippe Coutinho to Aston Villa, who agreed to wage deduction as well. But this was not enough to register Torres, so they had to convince French centre-back Sanuel Umtiti to agree to a contract extension with a significant wage deduction. Now Barcelona can not afford any new signing or contract extension before selling one or two players.

Barcelona are looking to make funds available from the sale of key players Ousmane Dembele, Frenkie de Jong, and Sergino Dest this month. If Araujo decides to stay at Barcelona then he has to wait for them to sell a few players first this month or agree to a contract extension with no rise in his low salary. Both Chelsea and Manchester United are capable of offering him much better wages but he is unlikely to get any regular football there. Manchester United have good quality options available in defence despite their struggles this season and are unlikely to push for the Araujo deal before selling either Eric Bailly, Phil Jones, or Victor Lindelof.

Barcelona Decide To Sell Chelsea And Manchester United Target Frenkie De Jong For Just £41.7 Million

Barcelona have made up their mind of selling one of their best midfielders Frenkie de Jong for a reported transfer fee of just £41.7 million. The Catalan giants are struggling to get their grip on the financial situation at Camp Nou recently and forced into selling high-earning players recently. Premier League giants Manchester United and Chelsea, and Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich are showing strong interest in de Jong and will be delighted over his £41.7 million valuations by La Liga heavyweights.

The 24-year-old Dutch midfielder arrived at Camo Nou in January 2019 from Ajax for a reported fee of £77 million. He still has 4 years remaining on his current contract with the Catalan giants. But the versatile central midfielder is struggling for form and fitness lately and having a disastrous season which is one of the few reasons for a drop in his transfer valuation.

Barcelona ready to sell Frenkie de Jong
Barcelona ready to sell Frenkie de Jong

Since the arrival of the manager and former legend Xavi two months ago, de Jong has been struggling to keep his place in the starting eleven regularly. Highly-rated Spanish youngsters Pedri, Gavi, Nico Gonzalez, and Riqui Puig have been regular in the first-team midfield now and the likes of Sergio Busquets and de Jong finding it tough to consistently perform. De Jong has scored just once and assisted 2 goals in overall 23 matches this season and needs a fresh challenge to revive his downgrading career.

Barcelona are struggling big this season with their latest stain being Supercopa de Espana semi-final 2-3 home defeat against arch-rivals Real Madrid. Xavi’d side sit in 6th position in the La Liga table with just 32 points from the opening 20 matches, 17 points behind leaders Real Madrid and 2 points behind 3rd placed Real Betis. Finishing in the top four will be a good achievement for Barcelona to hold on to their key players in the summer.

Chelsea And Manchester United Told To Pay Just £41.7 Million For De Jong:

According to a report from El Nacional, Barcelona are willing to sell Frenkie de Jong for just £41.7 million after reported interest from Chelsea last week. Last week, the same publication reported Chelsea’s £33 million bid was rejected by Barcelona, who are now asking just £7 million more for the signature of a player who cost them more than twice of the Blue’s offer.

Chelsea boost Mateo Kovacic, Jorginho, and N’Golo Kante in their strong midfield, but the latter two players have crossed 30 of age, and manager Thomas Tuchel is looking at long-term option at the centre of midfield. Kai Havertz and Mason Mount are operating in more advanced midfield roles in midfield despite being natural central midfielders. De Jong will be a perfect signing for Tuchel who has established a 3-4-3 formation at Stamford Bridge. De Jong is equally capable of playing in an advanced midfield role and deep-lying role, similar to N’Golo Kante.

Manchester United were strongly linked with de Jong in 2018 but the player chose Barcelona over them. But now due to his availability for such a lower transfer fee, Red Devils have revived their interest and looking to bid for him this month.
