Mourinho defends players’ commitment, denies his job is at stake

London, Oct 1: Manchester United coach Jose Mourinho on Monday stood up for his players amid criticism over the Premier League club’s poor results so far this season, denying that his job was in danger.

In the last three matches, Man United played to a 1-1 draw against recently-promoted Wolverhampton, lost a League Cup match to second-tier club Derby County and were stunned by West Ham United on Saturday, reports Efe.

“I am still the kid that I was 20 years ago, I am still naive, but I still don’t believe that the players are not honest,” Mourinho said at a press conference on the eve of his UEFA Champions League clash with Valencia.

Regarding players’ reactions to the string of defeats, he said “I see sad people, I see people that do not look like they lost a game. I see so-so, but in the little two sessions of training we had everything was normal. Everyone with a desire to work and play.”

The former Real Madrid and Chelsea coach denied that his job was on the line, declining to reveal whether he spoke with club president Ed Woodward after the loss to West Ham.

“That is a private matter. I’m not asking you ‘Who did you speak to yesterday, or this morning, or your last phone call?’ That’s a private matter, I’m not going to answer you,” he said.

Mourinho revealed that Spanish midfielder Ander Herrera, Argentine defender Marcos Rojo, English forward Ashley Young and English forward Jesse Lingard have been left out of the Valencia roster.

Paul Pogba

Pogba’s Image In France Doesn’t Reflect Who He Is – Deschamps

France manager Didier Deschamps feels his team’s vital midfielder Paul Pogba is misunderstood and is often the subject of criticism for unnecessary reasons.

Pogba is often criticised for his poor performances.

Life has turned out little bit difficult for the World Cup winner soon after he joined Manchester United from Juventus for whooping £89.3 million in 2016. And since then, he has been heavily criticised for his every poor performance.

However in the World Cup in Russia, Pogba played a major role for France in his side’s World Cup glory. And France manager has insisted that people still doesn’t understand the type of Pogba.

“The rest of the world, and certainly in France, has an image of Pogba that doesn’t really reflect who he is. There’s this idea that he’s a bit individualistic — that’s not the case. I’ve spoken to him about his relationship with the media and I think he’s been unfairly criticised in the past. That’s why there has been this aggressive vibe and he’s had this strained relationship.”

The World Cup winning manager further added:

“But criticism is part of the job and I think you learn to take that on board as you get more experienced. That’s what’s happened with him and I think he’s gained some respect. He joined us ready to become a world champion and he took the whole squad with him.”

Meanwhile, Pogba reacted once again with a lighthearted tweet. And he suggests whatever he writes turns into a news.

“Some people make polemic even from “good morning” to create drama. Big Pogoodmorning everyone hope u get it twisted.”

Pogba is leading Manchester United this season. However, his side hasn’t started off well as they managed to win only 3 matches out of 6 and are at 7th in the table.

Pogba Will Be Gone In January – Paul Ince

With Paul Pogba in the headlines week in and out, former Manchester United midfielder Paul Ince feels the midfielder’s time at Old Trafford is over.

Pogba is living a controversial life at Manchester United at the moment.

Along with Manchester United, Pogba’s season has started off not too well. And his relationship with manager Jose Mourinho seems to get worse day by day.

After coming back to his old club from Juventus with a record £89 million deal, big things were expected from the World Cup winner Pogba. But he couldn’t live up to the expectations of the fans at Old Trafford and has often been heavily criticised for his poor performances.

Meanwhile, Paul feels Pogba wants to join the Spanish club Barcelona and the club should get rid of him if he really wants to move out.

Paul told Paddy Power:

“If this was happening under Sir Alex, he’d have said one thing; ‘He’s going. Get rid of him now.’ Because there’s no chance he’d allow his team to become a joke because of Paul Pogba’s behaviour. I think his fate is completely sealed and he’ll be gone in January. There’s talk of Mourinho going before him. But I’d be disgraced if Ed Woodward allowed that to happen.”

The former midfielder also believes its time for United President Ed Woodward to step up and back the manager.

“If you do that, you’re essentially allowing a player to become bigger than the manager and the rest of his team. It’s time for Woodward to step up and back Jose. If he tells him that he’s upsetting the dressing room and still not playing at the level he should be, then he needs to back the manager and let him go. Pogba has caused far more trouble than he has good since returning to Man United.”

United are currently 7th in the table in Premier League with only 3 wins in their 6 matches.

Breaking: Cristiano Ronaldo Cleared To Face Manchester United After Receiving One-Match Ban

Juventus star Cristiano Ronaldo will serve only a mandatory one-game ban for his first-ever red card in the Champions League. UEFA’s disciplinary panel has decided not to add a further sanction to the mandatory punishment. As a result, the Portugal international is now clear to face former club Manchester United when Juventus visits Old Trafford on October 23.

A UEFA statement said: “The CEDB has decided to suspend the Juventus Football Club player Cristiano Ronaldo for one (1) UEFA competition match for which he would be otherwise eligible.”

Ronaldo was shown the red-card in the season-opener against Valencia.  Ronaldo appeared to pull the hair of defender Jeison Murillo before being given the marching order.

It was the first time he was sent off in 15 years of playing in the Champions League.

The Juventus striker left the pitch in tears after seeing red for the off-the-ball incident.  He couldn’t launch an appeal against the straight red received in the 29th minute at the Mestalla.  The former Real Madrid stalwart, who was making his Champions League debut for Juventus, clashed with Murillo before the Valencia defender fell theatrically to the ground.

An annoyed Ronaldo then reached down and appeared to grab the hair of the defender. In the next moment, Murillo stood up and squared up to the Juventus forward. Things then got worse for Ronaldo as the referee showed him a straight red just before the half-hour mark.

His dismissal, however, did not affect Juventus much as two penalties from Miralem Pjanic saw the Italian beat Valencia 2-0 to walk away with all three points. The Serie A champions will be looking to continue their winning start when they take on Young Boys without Ronaldo.

Ronaldo will return to action in the continental showpiece at Old Trafford before facing his former side in Turin on November 7.

Cristiano Ronaldo scored 118 goals in 292 games for United between 2003 and 2009. He won three Premier League titles, the Champions League and the Club World Cup before leaving for Real Madrid.

Watch: Paul Pogba And Jose Mourinho In Stunning Bust-Up At Manchester United Training Ground

It looks like the relation between Jose Mourinho and Paul Pogba has hit the rock-bottom. That the Manchester United manager and midfielder are not on amicable terms is not a secret anymore. And a recent footage showing Pogba giving Mourinho a stare in the training ground is enough to prove that the relationship is deteriorating with each passing day.

On Tuesday, Mourinho punished Pogba by stripping him of his vice-captaincy following his outburst in the 1-1 draw at home to Wolves. The tension at the club further elevated following the dismal Carabao Cup defeat to Derby, in which the 25-year-old watched from the stands.

And on Wednesday, Pogba and Mourinho showed that their relationship is in turmoil. In the video, Pogba could be seen running over to the management team and shakes hands with Michael Carrick. He then approached Mourinho and a United press officer who he also shakes hands with.

But the 55-year-old gave the World Cup-winner the cold shoulder and instead muttered something in his direction. And Pogba was having none of it as he gave his manager a long cold stare.

The pair were then seen exchanging words in a heated conversation before the manager called over the club press officer. Allen then spoke both the men before Pogba marched off nodding his head.

The France international, meanwhile, is heavily linked with a move to Barcelona. And the way things are turning out at the club, it would not be a surprise if he pushes his way out of Old Trafford this winter.

The latest defeat, nonetheless, has further deepened crisis at the club. Just three wins in their opening six matches has already left them 18 points behind rivals Liverpool.

Sir Alex Ferguson Returns To Old Trafford

Former Manchester United manager Alex Ferguson, who used to watch every home game of United before his sickness has finally made an return to Old Trafford to watch Premier League game against Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Sir Alex Ferguson watched the Premier League game between United and Wolverhampton.

Ferguson was admitted  to the Salford Royal Hospital in May for emergency surgery for a brain hemorrhage. After getting released from the hospital, he has been in bed rest since then. But he was greeted with applause and cheers from the crowd after he  attended his first match since the operation.

However, he spent a disappointing night at Old Trafford as United drew 1-1 with Wolves.

After making an emotional return, Ferguson told MUTV:

“It’s obviously been a long journey. But I’m making steps forward, doing what my son tells me and what the doctors tell me, so, yeah, it’s really good. I’m a bit nervous, to be honest with you, maybe a bit tense, really, because the last game was Arsenal back in April. It was a long time, but it’s great to be back, and I just hope we get a win today.”

When asked if he misses the press conferences he used to face during his managerial career, the former United managed said:

“I don’t miss this. This is the pressure, having these press guys with stupid questions. No, it’s great to go back to the stadium, and it’s going to be quite emotional for me when the game starts, things like that. It had to happen sometime, and I’ve been looking forward to it. It was important getting the right time and the right rest before coming to a game.”

Ferguson also thanked his supporters and well wishes and all the things they did during his recovery phase.

“It’s unbelievable. There were thousands of cards, and they kept arriving at Salford Royal Hospital. I’d left by that time, but they kept coming and kept coming. The number of emails, texts and personal cards to the house, it was just amazing. It really was. I’m overcome by it and overwhelmed by it. I think, if you remember, I did the message [through MUTV] to thank the people who had taken the time to send me messages. It’s great to be back!”

Ferguson was in charge at United for 808 Premier League games and 1,400 matches in all competitions. He lifted 38 trophies including three Premier League titles, five FA Cups and two Champions League titles.

Wolves Hold Manchesters United In Front Of Returning Sir Alex Ferguson At Old Trafford

Manchester United saw their run of three consecutive wins in all competition coming to an end on Saturday as Wolves earned a 1-1 draw at Old Trafford.

Sir Alex Ferguson was in attendance for the first time since undergoing brain surgery in May. And Manchester United gave him a perfect reception when Fred became the 500th different player to score a competitive goal for United. The Brazilian found the back of the net after being wonderfully set up by Paul Pogba in the 18th minute.

However, the early goal did not unsettled the Wolves. The visitors kept on threatening the home side before getting a deserved equaliser from Joao Moutinho in the 53rd minute.

United tried their best to find the winner but Wolves held firm to earn a deserved point.

The latest result means United are now sixth in the points table. Jose Mourinho’s men now trail leaders Liverpool by points.

Surprisingly, it was the visiting side who started the proceedings on a brighter note. David de Gea was a busy man under the bars, denying Raul Jimenez and Ryan Bennett early on.

And Wolves soon paid for not making their chances count. Fred scored his first goal since his £52million move from Shakhtar Donetsk to give United the lead. Pogba deserves a big credit for the goal as he controlled the ball brilliantly into the path of Fred.

Wolves, on the other end, continued to press United but were just finding it tough to get the ball into the back of the net. But they finally got their due eight minutes after the break. Pogba turned from hero to villain as he tried an audacious drag-back to try and get around Ruben Neves in a dangerous area – and paid a big price.

Wolves raided forward to take advantage of the mistake with Costa slipping around Luke Shaw and providing a cross through. Moutinho then finished the move perfectly by firing the ball into the top corner from the 18 yards.

Both the teams had their chances of wrapping up the game in the later stages but neither of them could make those count.

Jerome Boateng

I Thanked United For Trying So Hard On Me – Boateng

Bayern Munich defender Jerome Boateng revealed that both Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain were interested to buy him in the summer transfer window.

Jerome Boateng revealed why he rejected Manchester United.

Among the two clubs, Boateng felt interested to join the English club. But in the end, Jose Mourinho couldn’t convince the German. And he is now playing his eighth season with Bayern.

The 3o-year old defender played for Manchester City in his early days. He has thinking to take a new challenge but nothing couldn’t convince him enough to leave the club of his heart.

Boateng told Bild:

“I had enquiries from PSG and Manchester United. I did not want just to get away from Bayern. But I was thrilled to try a new challenge. I feel well at Bayern. It’s one of the biggest clubs in the world.”

He also revealed that he personally spoke to Mourinho regarding Manchester United’s interest. The manager was trying to buy both Boateng and Harry Maguire. However, Maguire didn’t want to leave Leicester City.

“I called Jose Mourinho, I told him that his interest was an honor for me and thanked him for trying so hard for me. I explained to Jose that it’s difficult to leave Bayern, and if I do, everything has to be in place to top this club.”

The negotiations between Boateng and Man Utd started to break down when the club said they want the player only on a loan deal. Boateng has also become an injury-prone player, one of the reasons behind the clubs hesitating to buy him.

He suffered muscle and tendon injuries over the past three Bundesliga campaigns. As a result, the centre-back missed 27 games in total since December 2016.

Pep Guardiola is the Only Person Who Should be at Manchester United – Eric Cantona Takes a Dig at Jose Mourinho

Former Manchester United skipper, Eric Cantona wants the Reds to play creative football and believes City’s boss, Pep Guardiola is the right man for the club and not Jose Mourinho.

Cantona wants Pep Guardiola at Manchester United

Cantona often comes out and talks about Manchester United’s reason of failures and after a terrible start to the new season, he believes United lacks creative play. He told Manchester United’s official website,

“Listen. I joke about Manchester City, but they are playing great football. “It’s just that I think Guardiola should be at United. He is the spiritual child of Johan Cruyff. He played under Cruyff at Barcelona and learned everything from him. He’s the only person who should be at United.”

However, Cantona won four Premier League titles at Old Trafford during the 1990s, and he believes he has what it takes to become the manager of the club at Old Trafford,

“Well, except for me. I would like to coach. If they called me, I would go; I would enjoy it. They know where I am. Then we would play creative football once again. It would be great for the fans like it was with Alex Ferguson — he allowed players to be creative, treated them as individuals. We all felt special with him. All felt loved. He was always praising. A good man. A good leader.”

Jose Mourinho doesn’t deserve to be Manchester United’s manager, Eric Cantona.

Manchester United are now at 10th in the Premier League table with only two wins in four matches. They also suffered an embarrassing 3-0 defeat against Tottenham before the international break.

Since last season, Jose Mourinho is facing criticism despite guiding United to 2nd position. However, there was 19 points gap with the Premier League champions, Manchester City.

However, after the international break, Jose Mourinho’s men will face Watford on 15th September.

Paul Pogba will Always be Welcomed at Barcelona – Luis Suarez

Barcelona forward, Luis Suarez says France midfielder, Paul Pogba will always be welcome at the Spanish club. However, he also criticised Antoine Griezmann’s style of rejecting Barcelona in the 2018 summer transfer window.

Paul Pogba was linked highly with a move to Barcelona in the 2018 summer transfer window.

In the 2018 summer transfer window, Pogba was linked highly with Barcelona. But in the end, he stayed at Manchester United, as Jose Mourinho didn’t want to let the midfielder go.

However, Pogba’s linking to Barcelona doesn’t end so soon. And Suarez has said the doors are always open for Pogba at Camp Nou. Suarez told RAC1,

“Pogba’s an elite player who’s won everything. He has a lot of quality, and he’s one of the references at United. I think he would like to be competing for more than he is at the moment. He’s not a player that belongs to Barca, but he would always be welcome.”

Things started to get tougher for Paul Pogba at United after his relationship with Mourinho took a turn.

After the manager criticised the Frenchman in the summer, it was known that Pogba wanted to leave right after that.

Meanwhile, praising Paul Pogba, the former Liverpool striker revealed he was shocked after he heard Griezmann is not joining Barcelona.

“It was a surprise [that he stayed at Atletico] because of what he had said. But you have to respect his decision, which he made with his family. He earned everyone’s respect. There were some people saying I would leave if he came in, but I don’t know where that came from. If he came, he would have been well received because he’s an excellent player.”

According to the reports, Griezmann was all set to join the La Liga champions. But in the end, he decided to remain at Atletico Madrid, finally announcing his decision in a documentary called “The Decision.”
