Low Disappointed As Mesut Ozil Continues To Ignore Former Manager

German coach Joachim Low is shocked and disappointed with Mesut Ozil as he continues to ignore his former manager and keeping him away from  face-to-face talks.

Ozil announced he will no longer play for Germany after the FIFA World Cup in Russia.

Ozil, who retired from International football after the World Cup in Russia has not turned back since then. He has continued to ignore the issue and has also refrained himself to hold any personal conversation with the manager or any member from Germany.

Low visited Arsenal’s training ground during a trip to London this week. He met with  Bernd Leno and Shkodran Mustafi. But his former player Ozil was not present.

The German coach also revealed that he has been trying to contact with  Ozil over the phone, but it was all failed attempts in the end.

Low Disappointed As Mesut Ozil Continues To Ignore Former Manager 8

Low told German media:

“Mesut was not [at the training ground], so we have to accept that he does not want to talk to us at the moment. I do not know the reasons. ersonally, I am disappointed that if you have worked together for so long… I would have liked a personal conversation. Of course I would have taken the chance to speak with Mesut Ozil, [he is] still close to my heart.”

The German midfielder retired from International football stating racism and disrespect.

Meanwhile, Low sees as a boost for the nation’s footballers after a difficult last few months as they won the bid on Thursday to host the 2024 Euro.

“A tournament like this is extraordinary for a country and can be a huge motivation for young players. It’s a good step for the coming years. Everyone at the Association can now start planning.”

‘I’m Mesut Ozil and I’m Not Finished Yet’

Arsenal’s Mesut Ozil, who scored a goal against Newcastle United on Saturday wants to make his mark in the English football. Despite being compared to the club’s legend, Dennis Bergkamp, he wants to get remembered only by his name.

Ozil is determined to make his mark in the English football.

After spending some tough time at the FIFA World Cup in Russia and facing several controversies, Mesut Ozil is back in action and currently is having a good time with the Gunners.

The playmaker has appreciated the Arsenal fans for always supporting him and insisted he is now out again to prove his worth. Ozil told the club’s official website,

“The fans have backed me ever since I arrived five years ago and because of that, I’ve been able to play in my preferred style. I always want to control the game, give assists and help my team. It was like that with me from the start. In my position, you have many possibilities playing forward. You can demand the balls, make telling passes or score yourself.”

The former Germany player also revealed he feels honoured to get compared with Bergkamp. However, he doesn’t want to get compared to anybody.

“I’ve been told so many times over the years that this is how Bergkamp played. Of course, that makes me proud, and it is an honour to be compared with him. Bergkamp is a living legend at Arsenal, and he was an amazing football player.  But I do not want to compare myself with anybody. I have my own style, and I’ve had it since I was a kid. I am proud of these comparisons, but I am Mesut Ozil, and I’m not finished yet.”

While most of the players love to score and are hungry for goals, Ozil loves to provide assists. The player finally revealed why he likes to give passes.

“Most kids only enjoy scoring goals but ever since I was young, I’ve always loved to give assists. Why? It’s simple really. Through giving an assist, your friend can score and you help your team. Whenever I receive the ball, I always think offensively so I can pick out chances to score a goal or assist someone.”

“That’s why it’s normal for me to always get the ball and play it forwards. In my opinion, a creative player should always have fun on the pitch and should trust their playing style in order to help the team. I’ve been playing this way my whole life, which is why I still enjoy giving my team-mates assists to this day.”

Arsenal will play Everton in their next league game before they face Vorskia in Europa League on Thursday.

Ozil’s Resignation Is A Pity – Ilkay Gundogan

Ilkay Gundogan, who was part of the controversy with Mesut Ozil has finally broken his silence to talk about the issue. He has expressed his sadness over Ozil’s retirement from the German team and suggested that racism was the reason behind his retirement.

Gundogan finally came out to speak about the controversy that happened before the World Cup.

Gundogan believes he and Ozil were singled out because of their ethnic backgrounds. After Germany were knocked out of the World Cup in the group stage, Ozil came in the spotlight of criticism more.

Ozil retired from international football with immediate effect stating racism and disrespect as reasons. The Arsenal attacker claimed the way the German football association has treated him makes him no longer want to wear the German national team shirt. And his team-mate Gundogans also feels that they were not treated right.

In an interview with Funke Sport, an angry Gundogan said:
“Was the affair racially motivated? You’re telling me! Is it not racism when a German politician writes on Facebook: ‘The German national football team: 25 Germans and two goat f***ers?'”

“That’s something you have to call racism. Nevertheless, that does not mean that all people in Germany are racists – not at all. Almost all my life I have had good experiences in Germany. I want to say that very clearly here. But there are people who have politically used the resulting photo for themselves. And in this context, the line to racism was partially crossed.”

The German midfielder also disagreed that those of foreign descent in the Germany squad formed their own ‘Kanake’. Kanake is a derogatory term for Turks in Germany that has been reclaimed by some of that community – clique, and that in Russia there was one single team.

Ilkay Gündoğan

“Of course there were some jokes here and there about certain Instagram postings. But that is quite normal, that you get up here and there a bit in a positive way. “But that was just always meant to be fun and definitely had nothing to do with racism! At the 2014 World Cup, it was ‘Die Mannschaft’ everywhere with 23 very best buddies and now, after a disappointing 2018 World Cup, there is talk of fractured groupings, though they were largely the same players and characters. This is now exaggerated from the outside!”

When asked about his former team-mate, he said:
“In sporting terms, I think Mesut’s resignation is a pity. He did a lot for German football. It’s a loss for the team. Mesut has also done a lot for me personally. He was one of the reasons why I wanted to play for Germany. He has paved the way for me. So I would have wished that he would get a better, deserved goodbye. However, one has to say that it was Mesut’s decision to go that way – with all the consequences. I would have done it differently – because I’m different from the personality.”

At the end of the day, Gundogan believes Ozil treatment in Germany crossed the line of racism.

I Find This Discussion Hypocritical – Jurgen Klopp On Ozil And Gundogan Criticism

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp feels the controversy surrounding Mesut Ozil and Ilkay Gundogan’s photograph with Turkish president has been taken way over the line.

Klopp wants the discussion about Mesut Ozil and Gundogan to stop.

The German players have been highly criticised after they posed for posed for a picture with the Turkish president in May. They were booed by their home fans during friendly matches and Ozil had to take too many criticism after their early World Cup exit.

Soon after the World Cup, Ozil announced retirement from International football stating disrespect and racism as reasons.

Klopp,  who coached Gundogan at Borussia Dortmund, told Sport1:
“This is a classic example of absolute misinformation and, of course, complete nonsense. In politics, little things have always been blown up and big things pushed away in order to continue.

Normally, intelligent people tend to hold back because it is not easy to say the right thing. I would count myself [among those people] too. All those who have no idea are very loud in these conversations.

“I do not doubt these guys, at least about their loyalty to our homeland. The difference is that they just have one more thing [in their heritage]. Where is the problem? That’s beautiful.”

Mesut Ozil

The Liverpool manager also explained why he feels this discussion is hypocritical:
“Cultural diversity, we all thought it was really cool around the 2006 World Cup. I saw these fantastic commercials where the parents of Gerald Asamoah and Mario Gomez had a barbecue party together. And now two guys are seduced by politically quite intelligent people to have a photo. Then have relatively few opportunities to say what they want 100 per cent right.”

“That’s why I find this discussion hypocritical. Bad things happened because people were not informed properly. Even the media should not create a buzz around something like this every day. Just cool off and see the people behind it.”

Meanwhile, Klopp’s men have started their Premier League campaign with two wins in a row. Liverpool trashed West Ham 4-0 at home while they took all three points away from home beating Crystal Palace 2-0.

The Parts In Ozil’s Statement Are Overshadowed By Nonsense – Kroos

German midfielder Toni Kroos has broken his silence to talk about the Mesult Ozil issue. He claims most of the reasons which Ozil stated are nonsense and racism doesn’t exist in the national team.

Toni Kroos has criticised his team-mate Mesut Ozil for taking retirement.

It all began when Ozil and Ilkay Gundogan were booed by the German fans in the friendly matches before the World Cup. They were booed because they met the Turkish President in May and the photographs went viral with the president.

After being consistently criticised because of the controversy and the performance in World Cup, Ozil decided to retire from International football stating disrespect and racism as reasons.

However, Ozil’s team-mate Kroos said the way he resigned was not in order. He also claimed that the Arsenal midfielder knows racism doesn’t exist in DFB and in the national team.

Kroos told Bild:
“The parts in his statement that are rightly addressed are unfortunately overshadowed by the significantly higher amount of nonsense. I think he knows very well that racism within the national team and the DFB does not exist.”

Mesut Ozil

In the statement of Ozil, it says:
“In the eyes of Grindel and his supporters, I am German when we win, but I am an immigrant when we lose.”

Meanwhile, Kroos has no plan to take retirement any time soon. His eyes are already on the 2020 Euro and he want to take his career to another level.

“I will continue towards Euro 2020 and have set myself the goal of being far more successful there than in the recent past. I had a good talk with [coach] Joachim Low. We will find solutions together so that I can get a break here and there. For me, that’s the only way, and I am thankful for Jogi’s understanding.”

Turkey’s Super Lig Team Shows Support For Mesut Ozil

When everyone is busy criticising Mesut Ozil, Turkey’s super lig team Malatyaspor showed support for the German midfielder. They wore shirts in support of Ozil  before their friendly on Saturday.

Malatyaspor showed support to Mesut Ozil during a friendly match.

Ozil, who retired from Germany due to racism and disrespect has been criticised by a lot of person in Germany. Bayern Munich president also said Ozil’s performance has been shit for years.

The shirts which Malatyaspor’s players wore featured a photo of Ozil’s face with the phrase “We are all you” printed above it. And “Say no to racism” below it.

The club revealed that the players wanted to show they support Mesut Ozil. He has been the centre of debate for over two months after he and Germany team-mate Ilkay Gundogan took a photo with Turkey President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

After the shock group stage exit in the FIFA World Cup 2018, Mesut Ozil decided not to represent Germany any more. He also released a lengthy statement where he stated he wouldn’t tolerate racism any more.

Among his team-mates, Manuel Neuer and Thomas Muller shared their views about the issue. Neuer said that “we accept his decision”. But said he wanted to play with teammates who were proud to represent their country.

Mesut Ozil

While, Muller said “We finally should end that debate and concentrate on football. Because racism inside the national team never was an issue.”

However, the Turkish president has backed the playmaker’s decision, believing it to be “national and native”. The Arsenal attacker claims the way the German football association has treated him makes him no longer want to wear the German national team shirt.

Ozil represented Germany in three World Cups, winning one in 2014. He was also named national team player of the year five times.

Racism Inside the National Team was Never an Issue – Thomas Muller

After Germany’s Mesut Ozil announced his international retirement, none of the German players expressed their opinion on the saga. However, Ozil’s ex-teammate and Bayern Munich forward Thomas Muller has finally broken his silence to speak about the issue.

Thomas Muller breaks silence on Ozil’s retirement

Muller believes the hypocritical media has made a mess out of everything and the outsiders fired up the whole discussion.

Muller said in a press conference ahead of Sunday’s friendly clash with Manchester United,

“The whole discussion was fired up by outsiders. Of course, the protagonists of that matter acted a little bit, unfortunately, both the executives of the DFB and the players. But, actually, this debate is hypocritical from the media’s side. Because of the debate, the media gets circulation.”

Thomas Muller kept blaming the media and also revealed the German football federation wanted to calm the situation.

“The DFB wanted to have peace with it, calm it, but the media always asked, again and again. The discussion was made bigger than it was and now you see what you get from that. For the sales numbers, of course, this is great, because now you still get to ask about it.”

Thomas Muller also made a strong statement stating racism was never an issue inside the national team.

“For us players, I think the whole issue never was as big as it was made out to be, but of course we got confronted by it, and we still do. So now we finally should end that debate and concentrate on football, because racism inside the national team never was an issue.”

After the shock group stage exit in the FIFA World Cup 2018, Mesut Ozil decided not to represent Germany any more and also released a lengthy statement where he stated he wouldn’t tolerate racism any more.
