Watch – MS Dhoni Bestowed With Padma Bhushan by President of India

Former India captain, MS Dhoni, was bestowed with Padma Bhushan by President of India in a function organised today (April 2). The award was announced in January on the eve of Republic day.

Here is the video of Dhoni receiving the award from the President –

https://twitter.com/Ankitaker/status/980797926828986368

Incidentally, he received the award on the same day when India won World Cup in 2011 under his leadership. Dhoni is the only captain in the history to win three ICC trophies. Under him, India won inaugural edition of T20 World Cup in 2007.

Later, Men in Blue lifted the 50-over World Cup title in 2011, after 28 years.

Indian team continued the golden run under Dhoni and clinched ICC Champions Trophy in 2013, defeating England in a thrilling encounter. India also climbed to number one spot in Test format under Dhoni.

However, in 2014, he retired from the longest format of the game mid-series. The string of losses on foreign soil was the reason behind him calling it quits from the longer format.

He continued to lead the team in 2015 World Cup and 2016 T20 World Cup. In January 2017, Dhoni stepped down from the post of limited-overs captain handing the job to Virat Kohli. He continues to play as a wicketkeeper-batsman.

On many occasions, his place had come into question, but there is no doubt that he will continue to play until 2019 World Cup. He is expected to take a call on his career after 2019 World Cup.

His next assignment is the upcoming season of IPL, where Dhoni will lead Chennai Super Kings. The franchise is making a comeback to IPL after two years.

Dhoni has been the captain of this team right from the inception of IPL. He remains the only player in the history of IPL to lead a team in all seasons of the T20 tournament. Dhoni, who made his international debut in 2004, has played 318 ODIs till now. He has also played 89 T20Is.

He retired from the longest format of the game after playing 90 Tests.
