Breaking: Jose Mourinho Sacked By Tottenham

Spurs are only six days away from facing the current league leader Manchester City for the EFL Cup final and sacking their manager at this moment of the situation raises a lot of questions.

Spurs could not meet much success in any competition under the reign of Jose Mourinho. Even though his reign was short-lived, it seems the English side did not have enough time in their hands to slowly pull themselves up to the ultimate success.

Jose signed for Spurs during last season, with a small transfer amount, and whatever circumstances he had, Spurs finished 6th in the league table.

Fans were expecting to see a better performance from Jose Mourinho’s Spurs this season, but not much improvement was seen this season either. The English Giants are currently stuck in the 7th position with only 50 points in 32 matches. Of course, this is not promising enough to finish the top 4 this season.

Even on the UEFA Europa League, Spurs faced a shocking exit the previous week. They had a 2-0 advantage over the Croatian Dinamo Zagreb from the first leg, which they completely handed over to their opponents by losing the second leg by a 3-0 margin.

There is a rumor going all around on the world of football that Mourinho was sacked, but he himself chose to part ways with the English side after getting to know of their intention to participate in the European Super League.

Most of the world of football is showing their disappointments openly after the news of the European Super League broke. Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp also sounded very disappointed after hearing the news, it is rumored that Klopp does not want to stay at Liverpool either after the news.

After Mourinho’s departure, there is no news or rumor on who could replace him as the new manager of Tottenham Hotspurs. And there is no news on where could the Portuguese manager go. We hope wherever he goes he will do what he does best again.

Pressure on Valverde as Barca prepare to face Tottenham

Madrid, Oct 2: The pressure is on FC Barcelona and coach Ernesto Valverde when they play Tottenham in the 2018 UEFA Champions League at Wembley on Wednesday.

Although Wembley has a place in Barca’s folklore after they claimed their first European Cup there in 1992 and defeated Manchester United in the rebuilt stadium to win 2011 final, the trip comes at a bad time with players out of form and Valverde seriously questioned after a poor run of performances and results, reports Xinhua news agency.

Saturday’s 1-1 draw at home to Athletic Club Bilbao was Barca’s third consecutive Liga Santander without a win and followed a defeat away to bottom of the table Leganes and a 2-2 draw against Girona in the Camp Nou.

Valverde rotated his squad in all three of those games to deal with the busy fixture list with new signings and fringe players so far failing to convince, but it was his decision to leave Leo Messi and Sergio Busquets on the bench at the start of the game against Athletic which really angered fans.

Anyone who saw Messi’s performances in last summer’s World Cup should know that it is simply impossible for the Argentinean to play every game, but the fact is what he is so important to Barca’s cause, leaving him out is a risk for the coach and by doing so Valverde left himself open to criticism.

Messi will be back in the side in London as Barca look for a result which would give them six points from their opening two group games.

Busquets will also start alongside Ivan Rakitic and Philippe Coutinho in midfield, while Valverde may have to decide whether or not he continues with Ousmane Dembele in attack or decides to play an extra midfielder, such as Arturo Vidal.

Samuel Umtiti and Sergi Roberto are both out injured, so Clement Lenglet and Nelson Semedo will partner Gerard Pique and Jordi Alba in defense.

Tottenham cannot afford to lose after conceding late goals away to Inter Milan in their first group game and will be without England midfielder Dele Ali.

However, Harry Kane looks to be returning to top form and he and Cristian Erikson often cited as a possible Barca target, will be two of the players Barca need to beware of on what promised to be an epic night in a legendary stadium.

Danny Rose Pleased with Support he Received Post Depression Phase

England left-back Danny Rose said he is pleased with the support he received since speaking about his battle with depression before the FIFA World Cup 2018.

Rose was depressed because of his slow recovery from injury.

Rose said in an interview in June that he’s passing a bad phase in his life. A combination of the slow progress of his knee injury and some family problems made Rose suffer for a while.

The English defender said his coaches, teammates and even fans had shared their own stories with him to help him relate. Rose told Daily Mirror,

“The reaction I’ve had has been unbelievable. “I was back home in Doncaster over the weekend. My brother plays for Grimsby, and I was at the game [against Forest Green Rovers]. I had two people come up to me at the game thanking me for what I’d said.”

“They had suffered from it, and it had helped them.  [When] I went away with England, there was a member of staff there who’d suffered from it and [they] thanked me as well. It just made me wish maybe I’d done it sooner. Or maybe after the World Cup, but yes, I’m glad I did it in the end.”

Even England manager Gareth Southgate showed him support and motivated him during his tough times.

“Then that night we played against Costa Rica. And after the game, the manager said that it was one of the best games he’d seen me play. It was as though I’d got a lot of things off my chest.”

Manchester United beat Tottenham to reach FA Cup final

London, April 22: Ander Herrera scored the winner as Manchester United advanced into a record-equalling 20th FA Cup final at the expense of Tottenham at Wembley Stadium here.

Spurs on Saturday suffered their eighth successive defeat in the FA Cup semifinals and left manager Mauricio Pochettino to continue to wait for his first trophy in the north London club, Xinhua news agency reported.

England forward Dele Alli put Tottenham ahead after only 11 minutes, sliding home a finish from Christian Eriksen’s cross.

Jose Mourinho’s side levelled on 24 minutes when Alexis Sanchez rose high to head Paul Pogba’s cross past Spurs keeper Michel Vorm.

The former Arsenal striker created the winner in the 62nd minute, holding off Kieran Trippier and sending the ball into the box where Jesse Lingard set up Herrera for a low finish.

Mourinho, who lifted the League Cup and Europa League in his first season at Manchester United last term, was delighted after the match. “We deserve it. If we split the match into periods we were the best team for many of these periods. Even when they had the ball when we were winning we were totally in control.”

Pochettino said: “I think every defeat is bad. It’s difficult to accept but of course we are disappointed we are out and cannot achieve the final.

“We competed but not enough to win. We dominated the first half and were much better than Manchester United.

“To win a trophy when you face a side like Manchester United, Chelsea or Manchester City is not easy. But the most important thing is we are able to compete.”

Manchester United will fight for the FA Cup title against the winner of the other semifinal between Chelsea and Southampton, which will be played on Sunday.

‘Tottenham must beat Juventus in Champions League’

Turin, Feb 12: Despite being a young and inexperienced side in the Champions League, Tottenham must overcome Italian football giants Juventus on Tuesday to proceed further, said the English club striker Fernando Llorente.

Llorente, 32, also said defeating current European Champions Real Madrid in the group stage of the Champions League has bolstered the confidence of his team.

“We are a young side, but we’re growing and have already beaten Real Madrid this season. We dream of going all the way and know that to achieve that, we must beat the best, starting from Juventus,” the striker was quoted as saying by Football Italia.

“The Champions League is a strange tournament, as anything could happen. The same goes for Juve: if they get past us, they can triumph in this tournament,” Llorente who made 66 appearances for Juventus from 2013 to 2015 added.

The Spaniard said their star striker Harry Kane has been in phenomenal form for the past few seasons.

He also said the Englishman is as professional as star Juventus defender Giorgio Chiellini.

“It’s difficult because he (Harry Kane) is one of the best in the world. He scored 56 goals in a calendar year, more than Leo Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo,” Llorente said.

“Kane is the complete striker, very good with his back to goal and can find the net out of nowhere.

“He has a radar in his mind that shows him where the goal is. Harry is also super professional, much like Chiellini,” he opined.
