WWE Superstars have to be extremely professional as they continue to entertain the global fanbase of the company on a 24*7/365 days basis. The rigorous schedule provided by the WWE often takes a toll on their body while the performers aren’t superhuman beings which they often pretend while being inside the squared circle.
WWE Superstars are also like every other human beings who go through regular and sometimes life-threatening diseases. There have been eight instances where some of the veteran names from the WWE locker room had to deal with deaths but thankfully they were victorious in those battles.
Check out 8 WWE Superstars who won against life-threatening diseases:
The Great Khali
When you look at one of the most gigantic WWE Superstars in history, you have to wonder whether he’s always dealt with over secretion of hormones. The Superstar billed from India was indeed afflicted with acromegaly and thus he had surgery to remove a tumor on his pituitary gland in July 2012.
The surgery was done much later than it required and according to ABC News, is likely to have caused long-term health difficulties. WWE Hall of Famer, André the Giant died due to the same reasons at the age of just 46. For Khali, his tumor was thankfully removed via surgery.
Bret ‘The Hitman’ Hart
Legendary Bret Hart learned back in 2013 that he was dealing with slow-paced prostate cancer. Consequence-wise, he had undergone a robotic prostatectomy operation in February 2016 as a result of that early discovery. The less painful process had also made him beat prostate cancer. There were rumors that skin cancer could have also bothered one of the most famous WWE Superstars but that was denied in 2020.
Big Show
The largest of all the WWE Superstars, Big Show suffered from acromegaly in his childhood. Similar to Khali, he also had a tumor on his pituitary gland that produced growth hormone more than one could need. Thus we got the 7-feet giant but the disease forced him to have surgery at the age of 19.
Triple H
In September 2021, one of the most decorated WWE Superstars in history experienced a cardiac incident and was rushed to the hospital. While nothing in detail was revealed regarding that incident, Triple H revealed in an interview with ESPN that it was a near-death experience.
The 14-time world champion had to undergo life-saving surgery and consequence-wise, he also announced his retirement from the ring, since he can’t ever wrestle with a defibrillator implanted in his chest. Meanwhile, The Game will continue to serve as the Global Talent Strategy & Development Executive Vice President for the WWE.

Michelle McCool
In 2016, Michelle McCool announced that she had been diagnosed with skin cancer in an Instagram post. While nothing much was revealed about her diagnostic process, she is currently cancer-free and also wrestles occasionally for the WWE. She last competed in the 2022 Women’s Royal Rumble Match as the number-10 seed.
Alexa Bliss
One of the most popular female WWE Superstars of the modern generation battled with anxiety, depression, and an eating disorder. In her childhood, she lost so much weight and nearly died out of those health issues.
Thankfully, she overcame those issues and built more confidence in herself by joining a bodybuilding competition before joining the WWE in 2013. While Bliss’ transformation into a top WWE star remains an inspiration for many, she stated in a 2020 interview that even these days she often faces eating problems, anxiety, and despair.

Brock Lesnar
The alpha male amongst all the WWE Superstars may look untouchable inside the ring but he’s not immune to diseases. During the heyday of his MMA run with UFC, he dealt with diverticulitis in 2009. He was dependent on drugs rather than undergoing surgery. The Beast fully recovered in 2010 and two years later, he made a triumphant return to the WWE.
Roman Reigns
The Head of the Table for all the WWE Superstars was in football before transitioning into a wrestler. At the age of 22, he was first diagnosed with leukemia. He was able to put it back into remission but it came back in 2018 when he was on the top of the food chain as the Universal Champion.
The treatment process forced him to leave in-ring competition for almost five months. During an interview with Muscle and Fitness magazine, Roman Reigns noted how getting diagnosed with leukemia seemed like a death sentence. But he came back and managed to re-establish himself as the poster boy of the WWE.
