The first match for AEW Battle of the Belts special has been revealed. During this week’s episode of Rampage, it was announced that Riho will challenge AEW Women’s World Champion Britt Baker with the title on the line. Riho earned this title match opportunity by defeating Baker in the Black Friday Deal Match on the November 26 edition of Rampage.

The inaugural AEW Battle of the Belts s slated to take place Saturday, January 8, 2022, at the Bojangles Coliseum in Charlotte, North Carolina. The promo revealed for the event features all the current champions in the company: AEW World Champion Hangman Page, AEW Women’s World Champion Britt Baker, AEW World Tag Team Champions Lucha Brothers, and AEW TNT Champion Sammy Guevara.

Although not much details have been revealed around the PPV, it’s expected that all the existing champions from the All Elite Wrestling promotion will all be defending their respective titles on AEW Battle of the Belts. This will be a similar tradition to that of Clash of Champions/Night of Champions in the WWE where all the championships hang in the balance.

World title match expected at AEW Battle of the Belts

That being said, AEW Battle of the Belts as of this writing should also feature a rematch between Bryan Danielson and AEW World Champion “Hangman” Adam Page. During this past Wednesday’s Winter Is Coming edition of AEW Dynamite on TNT, Danielson vs. Page ended in a 60-minute time limit draw.

In an update, AEW President, CEO, General Manager & Head Of Creative Tony Khan appeared on Busted Open Radio to inform that the feud is far from over,

“I’ll be honest: I’m excited for what’s coming next between Hangman Page and Bryan Danielson. It’s far from over. And I’ll tell you this: Bryan Danielson is still the no. 1 contender. It’s a rematch I’m very much excited to see.” (quotes courtesy Wrestling Observer)

There’s no update available on when the Danielson vs. Page rematch will take place, but with the first-ever AEW Battle of the Belts special approaching closer, it’d be a perfect place to witness the match. The PPV airs live on TNT on Saturday, January 8 from the Bojangles Coliseum. More details about the show will be revealed in due course.
