AEW Battle of the Belts will return with its third edition, later this summer and the event will go down from Grand Rapids, Michigan. The date is yet to be announced officially on AEW’s part but the local advertising reveals that AEW will be in Grand Rapids for a live episode of Rampage on August 5, followed by a taping for the event related to AEW Championships.

Since the previous AEW Battle of the Belts specials have aired on Saturdays on TNT, we can assume the upcoming event will be airing on Saturday, August 6 in a taped format instead of a live broadcast. Nothing in detail about the upcoming event has been announced, thus far.

AEW Battle Of The Belts III Specials Announced For August 2022 1

According to the reports from Wrestling Observer, tickets for AEW Battle of Belts III go on sale a week from this Friday. It has already been reported that four such BoB specials would air on the TNT Network as a part of the network’s “Saturday Fight Night Series” and that would happen quarterly for the entire 2022.

Keeping that in mind, we assume that AEW Battle of the Belts IV is likely to take place in the fall of this year. Originally, these one-hour specials debuted in January of this year, and the first edition featured three title bouts.

At the second AEW Battle of the Belts special, Guevara defeated Scorpio Sky to reclaim the AEW TNT Title while Jonathan Gresham retained his ROH World Title over Dalton Castle. Also, Thunder Rosa retained her AEW Women’s World Title over Nyla Rose. To date, the AEW World Championship has not been defended at this event.

“They will be Saturday night quarterly specials, Saturday night fight nights in prime time,” AEW President Tony Khan said back in January about AEW Battle of the Belts Specials. “They’ll be an hour at 8 PM, it’s a lot of fun. It was something that, along with the move to TBS, I was talking to TNT and we had something really great going with TNT in addition to TBS.”
