This week’s AEW Dynamite witnessed two former top superstars in the WWE, teaming up to secure a win and thereby setting up a probable match for another former veteran name from the WWE NXT division.

As seen on this past AEW Revolution 2022 pay-per-view, William Regal made his debut in All Elite Wrestling. He stopped a brawl between Jon Moxley (fka Dean Ambrose in WWE) and Bryan Danielson (fka Daniel Bryan in WWE) by slapping them into the face. He also initiated a shaking of hands for the two former WWE Champions to cause a tag team action on this week’s AEW Dynamite.

As seen during that match on AEW Dynamite, Moxley and Bryan Danielson def. The Workhorsemen with authority after which Regal barely resisted tears and said that 29 years ago Tony Schiavone helped him in more ways than he can imagine. Then 20 years ago, he met Bryan, a perfect wrestler. Regal then met Moxley 11 years ago and called him the perfect sadist.

Regal then sent a warning to the rest of the AEW Tag Team Division to step up or else they will be stepped on AEW Dynamite. Regal also mentioned his history with Bryan and Moxley, who is a Tag Team, possibly going after the tag titles.

AEW Dynamite: William Regal to make an in-ring return?

As for Regal, he was first added to the “Coaches” section on AEW’s website, but now he has been shifted to the active roster on AEW Dynamite. AEW did the same with Sting when the WWE Hall of Famer debuted in 2020 and he still wrestles for the company. Time will tell whether Regal is being considered to in-ring competition on AEW Dynamite.

Meanwhile, prior to AEW Dynamite, AEW President Tony Khan had the following to say about bringing in a veteran talent like Regal to his company,

“I think he can contribute on-screen in a major way to Danielson and he has a history with Jon Moxley. Some of the last matches we saw Regal wrestle were against Moxley and they had a great rivalry.

Also, behind the scenes, I think Regal can teach all of us a lot and it’s great to have him here, on-screen and off-screen.

It came together very recently and he fits very well with what we’re doing.” (quotes courtesy WWFOldSchool)
