WWE Hall of Famer Alundra Blayze aka Madusa who has been a three times WWE Women’s Champion recently talked about the growth of women’s wrestling. Alundra Blayze had been one of the biggest names during her time in the world of professional wrestling.
Women’s wrestling is very much existent in the world of professional wrestling in men’s wrestling is in existence. WWE Women’s Championship that got defunct in 2010 was the oldest recognised Championship in WWE history. It was first founded in 1956, seven years before the WWE Championship came into existence in 1963 which was won by Buddy Rogers. Fabulous Moolah was the inaugural WWE Women’s champion, she was also the longest reigning WWE Women’s champion.

Alundra Blayze Discusses The Growth Of Women’s Wrestling
Fabulous moolah set a record of reigns which is impossible to beat in today’s wrestling. The women’s championship got defunct two times in WWE history. It was first got defunct in 1990 only to return in three years holding the hands of WWE Hall of Famer Alundra Blayze. Since then the title was in existence till 2010 and got defunct after that never to return again. The Attitude Era might have been the best period of time in WWE history but it was a terrible time for women where they were mostly treated as sex objects.
But women’s wrestling has developed a lot. They might have been sex worker for a long period of time in WWE but in today’s wrestling they are main eventing back to back shows and also they are putting five star performances. Women in today’s wrestling are nothing less than men. Women have shown the entire world what they are capable of if they are given the right opportunity. Hopefully women’s wrestling will flourish more in future.

Alundra Blayze aka Madusa who has been a three times WWE Women’s Champion recently spoke to where she talked about the growth of women’s wrestling. Alundra Blayze had been one of the biggest names during her time in the world of professional wrestling. She said;
It seems like Attitude [Era] forward is what they [WWE] do with the girls. It’s like they always pick — this is nothing against Trish [Stratus] or Lita, let’s get this straight. But it seems like that they always pick those two and move forward and run with it when there are women before the Attitude Era that made that happen.
“I mean you have a Wendi Richter, you have a Lelani Kai, you have The Jumping Bomb Angels, you have [talents] right down the line that are still alive that, you know, if it wasn’t for Wendi Richter, even before me, none of this would be happening because she stood her ground. She was the first one to stand her ground and said, ‘Screw you’ and left.

“Left because she was Rock and Roll wrestling with the whole Cyndi Lauper and she — I mean she was as big as [Hulk] Hogan, and Hogan was getting — and I love Hogan. We’re talking business. Think about it now, here’s Hogan, Hogan’s pay. Here was her during that whole thing [below Hogan’s]. Why? So we’re still fighting for that. You know, to circle back about that too and evolution, I mean that pay has still gotta get better.
“For the future, we’re [women in wrestling] gonna evolve more and I know women are finally getting better paychecks which is good because, I mean I never made over — I never made over $100,000 when I was with WWE. I know that’s a shocker. Nope, never and then when you did make decent money which is still below $100,000, people are thinking, ‘Wow, that’s good money.’ Well no because you had to pay for all your own stuff plus your outfits and by the end — then you paid taxes by the way and so that — you were left with… in the hole but you kept going.”
