Brock Lesnar squashed Kofi Kingston to become the new WWE Champion on this past edition of Friday Night SmackDown. That match lasted for only a few seconds as Lesnar nailed Kofi with an F-5 to get the pinfall win in the opening sequence. The real shocker was waiting after the match was over as Cain Velasquez made his debut in WWE as he came down to the ring with Rey Mysterio. A massive brawl followed, thereafter to make the FOX premiere night of SmackDown a memorable one.

Cain Velasquez stood tall over Brock Lesnar by unloading on him which appeared to be sweet redemption for Rey Mysterio and his family. Earlier, Lesnar appeared on the season premiere of Monday Night Raw to attack Mysterio and his son, Dominick. So the story from that is Mysterio has brought Velasquez in to take on Lesnar. A report from wrestlingINC.com confirms that Cain Velasquez vs. Brock Lesnar is happening at WWE Crown Jewel in Saudi Arabia. The pay-per-view is all set to happen on October 31st.

Apart from this, the latest edition of Wrestling Observer Radio gave some more insight into the deal between WWE and Cain Velasquez. In case you don’t know, Cain had prior experience in wrestling as he performed under a mask in the AAA promotion. WWE wasn’t looking for that type of persona as they wanted him to don the MMA fighter gimmick upon arriving here. The deal was in halt for sometimes before the Cain put his signs in the dotted lines just before Raw started, (via wrestlingINC.com)

“Reportedly, the deal between the two sides had some “snags,” including WWE pulling the deal off the table after being unhappy that word of Cain signing with WWE came out early. The deal was initially pulled on Monday before RAW started.

Dave Meltzer noted that in Cain’s ESPN interview that he said he wasn’t signed with WWE yet. Meltzer was told from WWE that Cain was indeed signed, and said it made sense as WWE wouldn’t run an angle to this magnitude if they didn’t already have the former UFC Champion locked up. Velasquez had also reportedly been in talks with AEW and NJPW.”

Cain Velasquez has previously defeated Brock Lesnar for the UFC Heavyweight Championship back in 2010. He will now transition to a pro-wrestler from an MMA competitor. He might have also reportedly informed the UFC officials of withdrawing from the US Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) testing pool confirming that he won’t be featuring in MMA actions, anymore.
