Goldberg surprised the WWE Universe during his appearance at the Legends Night on Raw as this was totally unexpected. This was really unpredictable as everyone thought that he was going after the Universal Champion after his recent comments and since their match at WrestleMania 36 had never happened. So instead of the Tribal Chief, McIntyre is next. instead.
The company pulled off a splendid job keeping Goldberg’s presence a secret, this week. According to the reports from PW Insider, WWE kept his return “very much hidden” backstage. Currently, WWE’s ThunderDome setup resides in Tropicana Field, and plenty of places are available where they can hide people before bringing them on TV in a surprising capacity.
Big Show Wants To Become WWE Champion In 2021?
Backstage Update On WWE Raw Return Of Goldberg
The former Universal Champion was reportedly hidden backstage until just before his entrance music hit the arena. Additionally, WWE didn’t have Goldberg in their script for Raw, at all. According to PW Insider, the original idea for the show was to close things out with the match between Jeff Hardy and Randy Orton.
The decision to insert Goldberg into the scene was reportedly made “late in the day” to close out the show with the WWE Title match between Drew McIntyre and Keith Lee, instead of so that The Myth can work in that angle instead. Meanwhile, the company had timing issues with the return and the Raw feed was thus cut off, suddenly.
WWE made the decision over the weekend to call him for a match against Drew McIntyre and that match should go down at Royal Rumble on January 31st. However, the former WCW franchise player suddenly being inserted into the WWE Title picture has not been well taken by the fans as the storyline was illogical. Former WWE creative team member Vince Russo also thinks the same.
He mentioned the huge gap in the segment between Drew McIntyre and Goldberg. In his promo, the returnee said that Drew McIntyre disrespected WWE Legends. However, no such instance was shown where McIntyre disrespected any of the legends on RAW, this week.
“Here comes Goldberg and again, Goldberg is the new go-to guy. Then Chris, I’m watching this and I’m like, I hate to say this again and I want to clarify myself again. It’s not like who’s the babyface and who is the heel. It’s like, who am I supposed to like and who to dislike in his exchange. Goldberg is accusing Drew of disrespecting the legends. Did I miss that part of the show? All of a sudden, Drew is disrespecting the legends and then Drew disrespects Goldberg.”
