‘The Lone Wolf’ Baron Corbin is a member of WWE’s main roster since WrestleMania 32. WWE gave him his big break at WrestleMania 32 as he became an instant threat by winning the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal.
Since moving to Smackdown Live during the brand split, he is being presented as a very strong competitor. He does not lose his matches very often neither gets dominated by his opponents ever. When he got his first big title break at WrestleMania 33 against Dean Ambrose, everybody thought this might be Baron’s time.
But Dean Ambrose won the title match. Later that week on Smackdown, Corbin defeated Dean in a street fight, however, it was a non-title match. Even though he did not become a champion but it clarified that the big push for Corbin is imminent.
Wrestling Observer Newsletter’s Dave Meltzer had something very interesting comments about Baron Corbin recently. Meltzer claimed that WWE officials have higher hopes for Corbin than they do for Braun Strowman over on Raw.
Corbin is involved in the WWE championship picture since Summerslam. He has not achieved any championship success yet but he will be elevated to the main event scene very soon.
It is being speculated from the very beginning of brand split that Baron Corbin will receive the same treatment at Smackdown as Braun Strowman being treated at Raw. And that is actually happening. Both wrestlers are getting built in the same manner.
Even though Corbin is involved in title picture from the very start of the brand split, Braun is not involved in any title picture yet. From this year’s Royal Rumble, it became pretty imminent what WWE is planning for these two individuals. When Corbin eliminated Braun from the Royal Rumble match in a dominant style, the picture of his future became pretty clear. Hopefully, WWE does not rush into any decision.
