The dream match between Ronda Rousey and WWE Raw Women’s Champion Becky Lynch has reportedly been pushed back. Following the return of Rousey, back at last month’s Royal Rumble event, rumors were rife about the never-before-seen singles contest between the two. But WWE went ahead with a different plan by sending the Rumble-winner to the Smackdown brand, instead.
In a recent interview with WrestleRant Radio, Becky Lynch talked about the return of Rousey to the WWE and then going after Smackdown Women’s Champion Charlotte Flair as her WrestleMania 38 opponent. It was surprising to see the UFC Hall of Famer go after Flair and the not the champion on Raw, given their earlier beef.

However, Becky Lynch doesn’t blame Rousey for her decision. Staying in her on-screen character, the champion from Raw stated that she understands how hard it was Rousey’s journey back to the company. Since she herself is sitting at the top of the Raw brand, she wouldn’t want to face herself either while being in Rousey’s shoes.
“I also don’t blame Ronda for not wanting to work with me, because I am better than ever, and I came back,” Becky Lynch said. “Nobody understands how hard what Ronda is doing better than me, you know? I know how hard it is. Being a mom is hard, traveling with an infant, very hard, wrestling, very, very hard. And to combine all of those things is a huge difficulty.”
“I make it look easy, but it’s not easy. So if I was Ronda, I wouldn’t want to face me. We are two women in the same position, and obviously, I am just killing the game.”
Becky Lynch discussed Rousey’s Rumble return
During the conversation, Becky Lynch also compared Rousey’s return at the 2022 Royal Rumble to her own return at SummerSlam 2021, on a night she defeated Bianca Belair to win the Smackdown Women’s Championship. Big Time Becks proceeded to give advice to Rousey by saying that she should’ve begun with the starters before going after the main course.
“Look, if I was her, I wouldn’t have done what she did because I am me,” Becky Lynch said. “I came in and I beat the top champion, unbelievable athlete, Bianca Belair. I beat her in 26 seconds, then I continued to beat her, and then I’ve been beating everybody else since. So, obviously, we are two different things. But if I were to give Ronda advice, my advice would be go with the starter. Go with the appetizer.” (quotes courtesy Wrestling INC)
Back at WWE SummerSlam 2021 pay-per-view, Becky Lynch made her surprise return as the replacement for Sasha Banks, who was to challenge Bianca Belair for the SmackDown Women’s Title. The returnee quickly defeated the EST of WWE to capture the title and she’s been the champion, since then. (swapping her title with the Raw Women’s Championship)
As for Rousey, she made her return to WWE programming after almost three years of gap at Royal Rumble 2022 to win the Women’s Rumble match. Following the win, she opted to go after Smackdown Women’s Champion Charlotte Flair but in a promo, she noted on having unfinished business with Becky Lynch.
