The current WWE champion Big E is also a former two times WWE Intercontinental Champion recently talked about cashing in his Money in the Bank contract on the previous WWE champion Bobby Lashley and he also said that it was a very important moment.
WWE was planning for a big push for Big E for quite a long time. There was some news floating around the world of professional wrestling that he was scheduled to win the Royal Rumble match this year. But for some reason, the push was canceled and it was given to the Rated R Superstar Edge. E’s push was stalled, not canceled though.
Big E On The Importance Of Cashing In On Bobby Lashley
After a number of months, he won the Money in the Bank contract in the Money in the Bank pay per view event. While meaning the contract he was a Smackdown superstar, but later he moved to Monday Night RAW and cashed it in on the previous WWE champion Bobby Lashley after he defeated Randy Orton in WWE Championship clash. The victory really gave a huge momentum to E and the way he defended his Championship so far, it has set him as a dominant champion.
But the way Lashley lost back to back matches to E, it was really not a very good look for him. He had been a very good champion since winning the title before WrestleMania earlier this year. Even in six man Tag Team matches, he was the man to be pinned. Now if he loses to Goldberg at Crown Jewel, it would be quite clear that WWE has gave up on him.
Big E is also a former two times WWE Intercontinental Champion recently spoke on Oral Sessions where he talked about cashing in his Money in the Bank contract on the previous WWE champion Bobby Lashley and he also said that it was a very important moment. He said;
“It wasn’t something I thought about at the time. It’s the first time that a Black WWE World Champion has taken the title from another Black WWE World Champion, which is pretty cool. And hopefully this becomes a more commonplace thing.
“I think, especially looking at our roster now and you see so many, even outside of WWE, I think it’s a great time for Black wrestlers. There are just so many of us who are just really good and talented. Also, Bobby was the one contemporary guy, when I got signed 12 years ago, he was the guy I was watching a ton of film on because that was a guy similar to me in build, and he was what I aspired to be in many ways.
“So, I just remember watching a lot of him – I think he and Cena had a United States Championship program that I watched a ton of. So yeah, it’s cool to see Bobby in his mid-40s. I don’t know how that’s possible. But I love what him and MVP have been doing. I also love the Hurt Business.
“That’s another great faction vs. faction opportunity there. I thought he did a phenomenal job as champion. He looked the part, he performed the part. It always means more when you take it from a great champion.”
