Bobby Lashley Describes How He Wanted Hurt Business To Work

When the stable was created by WWE fans were really excited to see it there had been no mainstream stable in WWE for quite a long time. For some unknown reason WWE has stopped these table based wrestling which used to be one of the biggest attractions of the promotion at a point. With the creation of Hurt Business, it looked like WWE is bringing back stable based wrestling once again.

But that did not happen. Hurt Business failed drastically in WWE. And there are a lot of reasons behind the failure of this stable. The first and the biggest reason was the way it was booked. WWE could never book this stable properly. Except of Lashley, others could never come to highlight.

Another big reason behind the failure of the stable was WWE never had any idea about what to do with it. They just booked it because they felt they should. But they never had any proper plan. Just like a lot of recent storylines, it was clueless and at the end of the day it remained meaningless.

The stable was broken before WrestleMania last year, but WWE tried to reunite them recently just to break it once again. Everything seems so clueless as if they have no idea on what to do and what is not to. At the end of the day, the stable that could be a huge success became another irrelevant storyline.

Bobby Lashley who is a former two times WWE Intercontinental Champion and a former two times WWE United States champion recently spoke to Mac Mania where he talked about his former stable Hurt Business and he explained how he wanted it to be portrayed. He said;

“The one thing we wanted to do because of how the black athlete is portrayed, especially in the wrestling business, is sometimes we have to go out there and dance. Sometimes we have to go out there and be a thug. I have a son, and a lot of kids try to emulate and look up to wrestlers. The one thing we wanted to show is who we really are. None of us are thugs. I got a college degree.

“I graduated with honors. I got a good head on my shoulders. When we come into work, we look professional. We don’t come in with sweats and everything like that. What we were trying to do was show the black athlete in a different light, and I think people really liked it because the synergy of all of us is real.

“Basically with The Hurt Business, we were trying to show old school wrestling to this new school, you know, everything is PG, everything is cool moves and everything like that. We wanted to show hard hitting old school style wrestling. That’s where the Hurt came along. Where the Business came along was how we represent ourselves.

“We came out in suits. We came out clean. We make money. We make real good money as WWE performers, so we shouldn’t look like anything else but superstars. We wanted to show all that on TV and have a good look for us as black athletes. I think people really loved it. Even to this day, people are still asking me about The Hurt Business. It was something that was really cool and it was really cool for us.”
