In the opening contest of WrestleMania 37, Bobby Lashley successfully defended his WWE Championship against Drew McIntyre. In a dominant outing, he passed out the top babyface figure with the devastating Hurt Lock to continue the title run. The expectations were that McIntyre was slated to pick up the win to make the WWE Universe delight in their return to the shows.
But the title match outcome was literally a shocker, as everyone thought Bobby Lashley was made a stop-gap WWE Champion whose reign was about to end at the Show of Shows. Thus, McIntyre never got to enjoy his due WrestleMania moment in front of fans by winning the WWE Title. His current rival may also not stop with his strong outings, anytime soon.

WWE NXT TakeOver, Title Defense, Steel Cage Match Announced
Bobby Lashley being built as a monstrous heel on Raw
The source hinted that WWE is building up Bobby Lashley as an unstoppable force so that an ultimate showdown against Brock Lesnar can be arranged, somewhere down the line. Fans will be allowed in some physical capacity at SummerSlam 2021 in August. So the hope is that The Beast Incarnate could be back to work at the Biggest Party of the Summer.
That being said, Brock Lesnar vs Bobby Lashley could end up being the main event of SummerSlam 2021. It is currently just an assumption as there’s no confirmation available on when the 3-time Universal Champion will be back. He was last seen at WrestleMania 36 where Drew McIntyre defeated him to win the WWE Championship.
Speaking of Bobby Lashley, he was scheduled to defend the WWE Championship against Drew McIntyre once again at the WrestleMania Backlash pay-per-view on May 16th. But then, Braun Strowman earned a clean pinfall win over McIntyre on Raw, and per the stipulation, he was added to the match. So, it will be a Triple Threat at the upcoming PPV event for the WWE Championship.
