Royal Rumble is one of the most famous pay per view events of WWE, some believe it is the most famous event in WWE history, even more popular than Wrestlemania. And that is all because of one simple reason and that is the Royal Rumble match itself which has remained the centre of attraction for thirty five years.

Booker T Comments On His Surprise Entry In Royal Rumble 2011

Royal Rumble 2011 is remembered for being different from every other Royal Rumble match that ever happened. It could have been the best Royal Rumble match in the history but it could never fill the potential it had. The best Royal Rumble match according to most fans remained Royal Rumble 2001.

It was the first and only 40 Man Royal Rumble match in the history of WWE. Of course we are not counting the Greatest Royal Rumble which took place in Saudi Arabia just a number of years ago. The Royal Rumble match of 2011 was won by Alberto Del Rio. There are a lot of reasons behind why it could not reach the potential.

First of all the match was not well organised, the winner of such a huge match was mostly protected throughout the match which was a terrible look. The final list of the Royal Rumble match was Santino Marella which must have been the biggest setback. It has been forgotten by a lot of fans already.

But it was definitely not the worst Royal Rumble match in the history. It might not have been the best but it was quite entertaining. The most entertaining part of this match was the surprise entrants. One of them was a WWE Hall of Famer Booker T who just made his return WWE after his TNA spell was over.

Booker T who is a former five times WCW World Heavyweight champion and a former WWE World Heavyweight Champion recently spoke on his The Hall of Fame podcast where he talked about being a surprise entrant in the Royal Rumble match of 2011. He said;

“What I do remember that night more than anything is the love for the fans,” he began. “If you go back and look at that, my right hand is trembling. It’s literally shaking. It looked like an act, but I was like, good God, I can feel the voltage going through my body.

“I was like, this is so freaking awesome because you just never know if the fans are going to see you and say, ‘Hey man, we don’t want to see this guy no more’, or are they going to see you and say, ‘We don’t care when we Booker T do the spinaroonie or anything like that, we’re just glad to see him.’ That night for me will always be one of my most special moments that I’ve ever had in this business.”
