Professional wrestling legend and two times WWE Hall of Famer Booker T who is also a former five times WCW World Heavyweight champion recently revealed his reaction when he got the call to appear in this year’s men’s Royal Rumble match as a surprise entrant.
This year’s Royal Rumble match did not offer much surprises unlike the previous years. This year WWE focused more on in depth story telling for the multiple ongoing feuds. It was a predictable Royal Rumble match overall but it was massively praised because of its excellent storytelling.
Booker T Reflects On His Reaction After Getting The Call For Royal Rumble
There were only two surprise entrants in this year’s Royal Rumble match, the first one was the two times WWE Hall of Famer Booker T. Needless to say, the second one was the Youtube influencer Logan Paul. Booker was the only Hall of Famer to enter the men’s Royal Rumble match this year. It had been a really feel good moment for his fans to see him back in action after such a long time.
Unfortunately, he lasted for only 42 seconds in the Royal Rumble match and ultimately he was eliminated by the Ring General Gunther. He had no impact in the Royal Rumble match whatsoever. Recently he announced that this was his last ending appearance as he declared his retirement on his podcast.
Booker T who is also a former five times WCW World Heavyweight champion recently spoke on latest Hall Of Fame podcast where he revealed his reaction when he got the call to appear in this year’s men’s Royal Rumble match as a surprise entrant. He said;
“I want to thank everybody in the arena at the Alamodome for showing the old man some love. It was off the chains. It was electrifying. It was pandemonium. It was unbelievable. I got to thank all of those guys that were in the Royal Rumble for just letting me participate in getting to go back and see what that feels like just one more time and just walk that aisle. I must say it was an awesome, awesome time.”
“I was sitting at the table at the kickoff show and I got a text message. It was the invite telling me, ‘Book, you’re in the Rumble.’ I’m old school. I went down in the Winnebago. Something told me to bring your gear.
“Make sure you are ready just so you don’t have to get ready. Stay ready, and boom, there it was. The text message came through, and I said, ‘Okay, here we go’. I think Rey (Mysterio) went down and I think they had to fill that spot.”
