Booker T Remembers His Super Market Angle with Steve Austin

The supermarket angle between Booker T and Stone Cold Steve Austin became quite famous back in the day. It is still one of the most talked about segments in professional wrestling history.

The story continued after team WWE defeated team Alliance in Survivor Series 2001 officially finishing the WWE vs. Alliance feud. Both Steve Austin and Booker T were in the same team during this feud. But the two individuals did not have very good chemistry between each other. Austin kept asking Booker T if he is on the same page with him.

Booker T Remembers His Super Market Angle with Steve Austin

After Alliance was beaten by team WWE, Booker T was not seen for almost a month before he made his return. Food challenge in WWE Undisputed World champion Chris Jericho for the Championship inside a steel cage.

Steve Austin completely dominated the match, and when he was about to go out by the cage door, Booker T interfered and hit Austin on his head with the cage door. Jericho was able to win the match by this week.

After 3 days during the episode Smackdown, Booker T was seen shopping in a supermarket. As he saw Steve Austin in the market, he attacked him. Austin fought back and completely beat him down. This angle was loved by the fans.

Recently, Booker T talked about this incident when he was interviewed by Yahoo! Sports. He said;

“There was definitely improvisation with that. Stone Cold had no script, I had no script and we were just there to entertain fans. We didn’t know that it would eventually go down as one of our greatest moments outside of anything that we did in the ring.

“‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin is a pretty tough guy, I’m a pretty tough guy and we find ourselves fighting in the middle of a grocery store. To this day, Bakersfield, California and the Green Frog Market live in infamy because of Stone Cold Steve Austin and Booker T coming through and wrecking it. It was a great night.”
