The opening contest of SmackDown featured a tag team match where The New Day took on the team of Randy Orton and the Revival. Kofi landed a Trouble in Paradise on Dawson to secure the win. The trio celebrated in the ring until Brock Lesnar appeared to shock the WWE Universe. Paul Heyman was accompanying him who issued a challenge to Kofi Kingston for the WWE Championship during the SmackDown debut episode on FOX Network on October 4th. Kofi accepted it without hesitation only for Brock Lesnar to pick him up and hit an F-5. He left the ring before having a closer look at the championship belt as we wait for the next title match down the line within three weeks.

Kofi Kingston had an interesting Clash of Champions, so to speak as he got to taste a win that was due for almost a decade. For more than ten years ago, he had to deal with the fact that he could not beat Randy Orton one-on-one. Finally, his determination handed him the accolade as he earned a pinfall win over the Apex Predator of the WWE. We thought this might have marked an end to the ongoing rivalry over on SmackDown.

But the announcement for this week’s SmackDown wiped out the chances. WWE.com hinted the rivalry to continue with the confirmation of a main-event tag team match,

“Clash of Champions provided extreme highs and extreme lows for The New Day as Kofi Kingston vanquished the man who’s spent the last 10 years trying to keep him down, but Xavier Woods & Big E suffered through the brutal loss of the SmackDown Tag Team Titles to The Revival. The Revival were delighted to wipe the “proverbial pancake batter” off the titles, but The New Day are intent on proving the value in The Power of Positivity. Now the rivalry reignites as The New Day meets Randy Orton & The Revival in a Six-Man Tag Team Match.”

We guessed that Randy Orton vs. Kofi Kingston feud will continue even at the Hell in a Cell pay-per-view event, too. Advertisements from WWE house shows have also clarified the same promoting the same lineup throughout this month. However, that’s not how things went down on SmackDown as the beast showed up earlier than we thought. He is all set to lit up the blue brand with his presence and thereby hype up the premier episode of SmackDown on FOX Network.
