Hulk Hogan vs Steve Austin has always been a dream match for almost every WWE fan. A match that every wrestling fan wanted to see, but their dream would never come true and it seems like it will never ever come to life.
But not many fans know about it that there were talks about this match to take place. There were a lot of times the match was planned but could not come into life. The first occasion is rumoured to be in 2002. A lot of rumours suggest that the original plan to book this match was at WrestleMania 18.

Bruce Prichard Explains Why Hulk Hogan vs. Steve Austin Never Happened
But for a number of reasons the match was cancelled. Instead we got the Epic match between Hulk Hogan and the Rock. There was another time when this match was proposed and it was before WrestleMania 19.
Some rumours claim that the match almost got booked for WrestleMania 19. But once again this match could not take place for some reasons. This time we got Stone Cold vs The Rock for the third time and Hulk Hogan vs Vince McMahon.
After that Austin had to retire and we could never witness this dream match. However, it was teased by Hulk Hogan during an episode of Monday night RAW once after that. But once again we had to face disappointments only.

Bruce Prichard recently spoke on a recent episode of Something to Wrestle with where he revealed why this dream match never took place. He said;
“I don’t think that they didn’t not get along. I don’t think they interacted enough to get along or not get along…..I think the match eventually probably could’ve happened had everybody stayed healthy. But you’ve gotta keep in mind, Steve was dealing with a lot of health issues.

“Steve was dealing with a lot of trust issues. To say, ‘That match never would’ve happened,’ that’s crazy to say. I just think you had to get over some of the issues that were basically rearing their head at the time. That reality in and of itself was something you had to take into consideration.”
