The Undertaker’s unbeaten streak was a huge deal back in the days. The streak that was once planned to be beaten by Mark Henry was started way back in 1991, by defeating Jimmy Snuka at WrestleMania 7 went on for twenty-three long years until it was finally broken by Brock Lesnar in 2014 at WrestleMania 30. It was one of the biggest shockers in WWE history. Most of the fans did not ever expect that Undertaker’s streak will ever be broken.

But this was not the first time WWE planned for beating the famous streak. It was planned quite a number of times before. The first noted candidate that was planned to book to beat the streak was Randy Orton. Rumors also suggest that Kane was also on the list who might have been given the honor but Kane refused to do it. Even Kurt Angle and Edge were two of the chosen individuals who refused to break the streak.

Bruce Prichard Reacts on Plans Of Mark Henry beating Undertaker’s Streak

The strongest link to do the unthinkable was the World’s Strongest Man Mark Henry. Even undertaker thought that Mark Henry would have been the best person to get this honor. But Henry did not want to break the streak which was revealed by himself. He once commented that,

“It was close. And there was some conversation about me being the one to break the streak. And if they would’ve asked me, I would’ve been like hell no! I don’t want to carry that weight (laughs).”

WWE booker Bruce Prichard recently commented on this matter. In an episode of Something To Wrestle With he said;

Yeah, there definitely was. It was talked about. In hindsight, had Mark probably caught on a little earlier – Mark caught on later in his career and was coming into his own during this time – Mark might have been a great guy to beat the streak.

Most of the WWE personnel and even critics still believe that Mark Henry would have been the right guy to do it. But we respect Mark’s decision for not wanting to do it because carrying such a huge weight, as he himself mentioned would not have been easy for anyone. It would have been difficult to live with for even the biggest of professional wrestling like Shawn Michaels, The Rock, Hulk Hogan, or Stone Cold Steve Austin. So Mark’s point can be understood why he did not want to have such an achievement.
