On Saturday night, during WrestleMania 38 Night One, Charlotte Flair defeated Ronda Rousey to retain her SmackDown Women’s Championship. It was originally supposed to be the main event of the night but the return of Stone Cold Steve Austin captured the headliner’s spot.
The women’s division match managed to please the fans to some extent but the finish was touted to be a lame one. After the referee was laid out, Rousey made Charlotte Flair tap-out with the armbar but the official wasn’t in a state to see it. Afterward, Flair delivered a big boot to pin Rousey.
With this win, Charlotte Flair has now become the first and only woman in WWE history to have 4 wins at WrestleMania. She is also the only woman to have competed in multiple ‘Mania matches and all of them being title matches.
Below is her list of wins/matches in Wrestlemania history:
1. WrestleMania 32 – defeated Becky Lynch and Sasha Banks to be crowned the WWE Women’s Champion
2. WrestleMania 34 – defeated Asuka to retain the SmackDown Women’s Championship
3. WrestleMania 36 – defeated Rhea Ripley to win the NXT Women’s Championship
4. WrestleMania 38 – defeated Ronda Rousey to retain the SmackDown Women’s Championship

Ric Flair praised Charlotte Flair vs. Ronda Rousey
At Wrestlemania 35, Charlotte Flair lost to Becky Lynch in a Winner Takes All Triple Threat Match also featuring Ronda Rousey. After pinning Rousey at Wrestlemania 38, The Queen has also become the first woman to hand over a singles loss to the UFC Hall of Famer.
Old School Legend and former WWF Champion “The Nature Boy” Ric Flair tweeted the following about Charlotte Flair vs. Ronda Rousey,
“The Greatest Women’s Wrestling Match I’ve Ever Seen! So Real & Authentic! Thank You @RondaRousey & @MsCharlotteWWE For Changing The Game! WOOOOO!”

Since the match received mixed reactions from the fans, they were confused and thought whether Ric was touting the Becky Lynch vs. Bianca Belair match. That match appeared to be one of the best women’s matches in WrestleMania history. However, Ric was praising his daughter and Rousey, instead. Being a father, it’s understandable why he would say so on social media.
Charlotte Flair also suffered multiple nip slips during the match and she was blasted by some of the fans. Many believe that she intentionally caused the wardrobe malfunction to steal the spotlight.
