From past couple of weeks, things look to be heading towards a heel turn for the former World Heavyweight champion Christian which looks very interesting, a heel Christian is always been more interesting than a baby face Christian.
It all started from the accidental Brogue kick from last week’s Smackdown which knocked out Captain Charisma. It was six man tag team match between The Shield, Sheamus, Christian and Daniel Bryan in which Shield won and Christian came out to be the victim as he was pinned by Roman Reigns.
From that night, we have seen some characteristic changes in Christian gimmick. He might have been defeated Daniel Bryan last week on Monday Night Raw but fought like a professional heel. And on Smackdown, he faced Sheamus. Before the match, he was interviewed by Renee Young where he cut a heel promo. Sheamus defeated him in that match but event after the losing the match he attacked Shemuas, the same man whom he recently worked with as a tag team.
It all indicating towards one simple thing, Christain is turning heel. Yes, it looks like we are going to get Christian back as a heel after nine long years (we are talking about WWE only, he worked a s a heel in TNA which we are not counting here).
We all know interesting Christian was when he played a heel gimmick. He was the pride the of the intercontinental championship division in the early 2000s after breaking up with his famous tag team with Edge and getting drafted to Raw on 2002.
He first started to work as a member of the Un American stable, later, he worked as a tag team along with Y2J Chris Jericho which also turned out to be very famous. Later, he broke up his tag team with Chris Jericho and feuded him which leaded towards Christian vs. Chris Jericho at WrestleMania XX. Christian defeated Chris Jericho in that match. He kept fighting for the intercontinental championship till 2005. He also been in the first ever Money in the Bank ladder match at WrestleMania 21 which was won by his former tag team partner Edge. Soon, he was released from his contract and he went to Total Nonstop Action where he worked as Christian Cage.
He returned to WWE after four years. After his return, he accomplished several championships such as the ECW championship twice and the World Heavyweight championship twice. But he never turned heel after his return. It looks like he is going to turn heel for the first time after his return.
But you can never trust the current creative team of WWE. You see, for many occasions it seems like The Miz is turning heel again. He cut a several heel promos and fought as a heel in a number of matches too. But he did not turn heel at the end, the creative team looks so confused with everything. Hope they will do what is best for Captain Charisma and they would not involve him in such a mess.
