Fans were in shock, this past Sunday night when they saw the condition of Cody Rhodes as he came to perform at Hell in a Cell 2022. WWE previously indicated how he was injured and wasn’t in a condition to compete in the bygone premium live event. However, he didn’t only compete in that match but also picked up the win after completing his in-ring duties for over 20+ minutes.

A report from WWFOldSchool noted how WWE Officials told Cody Rhodes that he didn’t have to compete and that they’ll come up with an alternate plan. But the top superstar from WWE Raw continued insisting that he will perform in his scheduled match against Seth Rollins. Ultimately, WWE went ahead with the scheduled match.

Cody Rhodes received major praise for his HIAC performance

Per the source, this led to WWE allowing Cody Rhodes to perform, although they did have to remove some planned high-risk spots from the match. One such spot was Cody hitting a Moonsault off the top rope that never happened. In the end, the sledgehammer played a pivotal part where it was used to secure the final pin-fall attempt of the match.

For all the right reasons, Cody Rhodes’ efforts were praised throughout the WWE Universe and beyond. WrestleVotes noted how exemplary words were thrown at the gutsy performance shown by the former Intercontinental Champion. In this modern generation, this match will remain an example for years to follow.

Jon Alba provided some additional information as he mentioned the following,

“Have gotten messages from talent in *every* major company in awe at what Cody Rhodes pulled off at HIAC. That’s how big that was. Was it the right decision to allow him to wrestle? That’s going to be debated for a long time.

I don’t know what his pain threshold is, or how comfortable his dancing partner felt with his limited mobility (clearly, enough). Will be quite the story to revisit years from now.”
