An eventful episode of WWE NXT took place last night that brought together the fallouts of the bygone In Your House WWE Network Specials. All eyes were on the NXT Women’s breakout Tournament finale that was won by Roxanne Perez. But in a major surprise, a WWE Raw Superstar was also in attendance who now could be gunning for the NXT Championship.

During the June 7 episode of WWE NXT 2.0, former Intercontinental Champion Apollo Crews made his return to the developmental brand. Going by his promo, he is staying with this brand for at least some time.

Originally, WWE NXT Champion Bron Breakker made his way down to the ring following his successful title defense against Joe Gacy at NXT In Your House. With Gacy being in the past because Breakker asked the roster who was going to step up next to the champion.

It was then when Apollo Crews’ music hit and out came the former Intercontinental Champion. Apollo said that he’s back in NXT for as long as he wants to be since he misses being here. Apollo also praised Breakker for being one of the best acts in the entire company, not just in WWE NXT. Crews stated he can’t wait to make history with Breakker but until then, he’d see him around. Apollo and Breakker shook hands before exiting the ring.

Apollo Crews was one of the discoveries of WWE NXT brand

Before this comeback, Apollo used to be a mainstay for the former black-and-gold brand. He made his WWE NXT debut in August 2015 and in April 2016, was moved to the main roster. Several WWE Legends saw an x-factor in him but his talent wasn’t fully utilized in the mainstay scene. However, he did win the Intercontinental title at WrestleMania 37 from Big E after a long wait. He would hold on to the title until August 2021.

Back then, Apollo used to be a Smackdown superstar. But then he was drafted to Raw in the 2021 WWE draft although he hasn’t competed on a TV episode of Raw since the March 21 episode. His last match featured on the May 30 edition of Main Event against Akira Tozawa. Apollo then competed in the main event of this week’s WWE NXT by teaming with Solo Sikoa to defeat the team of Carmelo Hayes and Grayson Waller.
