Deonna Purrazzo was never credited for her talent in the WWE but admittedly she was labeled as a problem. Free from the biggest professional wrestling promotion, she managed to earn fame by working in a number of promotions since its release that happened two years ago. Without a doubt, she can now be considered one of the finest talents to be around in the world of wrestling.
That definitely wasn’t the case when she was in the WWE. After signing the contract in 2018, she was literally forced to sit out in the catering for almost two long years. WWE creative team never allowed Deonna Purrazzo to showcase her wrestling skills on TV and never really cared about building her on-screen character.

During Deonna Purrazzo’s release, the world was going through the toughest phase due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the situation was really tough for the superstars who had to leave the company, forcefully. The former ROH Women’s Champion spoke to Busted Open Radio podcast and described the situation from back then while comparing it to the latest round of WWE releases.
“I was talking a bit about this last night. The new round of [WWE] releases and how, but not to compare because everyone’s situation is different, but that first round that I was in, there was a pandemic and there wasn’t independent wrestling happening, and there weren’t companies necessarily hiring a lot of people. It was just a very weird period for everybody.”

Deonna Purrazzo was able to thrive outside the WWE
Within a month of her WWE release, Deonna Purrazzo was hired by the Impact Wrestling promotion. Even before signing a bound deal with the company, she became the Knockouts Champion. That stint eventually made her the superstar of the year in 2020 for all the rightful reasons. The Virtuosa proceeded on how she managed to thrive in the Impact zone,
“I was really able to thrive at IMPACT, and really not need the independent bookings and not do the signings because IMPACT has figured out a way to showcase everybody, and use social media to our advantage and do something like Wrestle House, where more people were being showcased in different ways, and I got to benefit from that.” (quotes courtesy Wrestling INC)
Not only, did Deonna Purrazzo become a two-time Knockouts Champion in Impact Wrestling but also an ROH Women’s Champion which she recently lost to Mercedes Martinez in a championship unification match. Plus, she also won the AAA Reina de Reinas title which she lost to Taya Valkyre about a couple of months ago.
