The division of the divas in world wrestling entertainment is not the same anymore. There was a time when divas used to feature in some tremendous feuds and storylines and sometimes, in the main events too. Stephanie McMahon and Lita featured in the main event of Raw on August 21, 2000. And Lita also featured in a Monday night Raw main event against Trish Stratus on December 6, 2004. The women’s championship was on the line in both matches. But that was a long ago. You can’t dare to think about a divas match in the main event. Nowadays, divas like Kelly Kelly and the Bella Twins can even snatch the championship gold. The WWE has released most of their good divas like Victoria, Mickie James, of course Serena Deeb, she was one of my personal favorites. Beth Phoenix is also history. The division of the divas has to improve. We have shared an article before about how to improve the division of the divas. We hope it would improve and will regain its lost days. In this series of articles, we will discuss about the best divas of the last decade. In the first part of this series, we will talk about the former four times women’s champion Lita.
Amy Christine Dumas started debuted in professional wrestling in 1999. She travelled to Mexico in 1998 for training. After a year she began her journey through her professional wrestling career on the independent circuit. In the same year, Extreme Championship Wrestling owner Paul Heyman approached her and she worked for e small time in ECW as Miss Congeniality. Later, her name was changed to Angelica. On November 1, Dumas signed a development deal with Wrestling Federation and she made her final appearance in ECW on October 23, 1998.
Dumas debuted in WWF February 13, 2000 and paired with Essa Rios under the nickname of Lita. Later, she teamed up with the Hardy Boyz. She had some notable rivalries with Trish Stratus, Ivory and Stephanie McMahon. On August 21, 2000, Lita defeated Stephanie McMahon to win her first women’s championship. She continued to work with Team Xtreme (Hardy Boyz) stable. On WrestleMania 18, she featured in the triple threat women’s championship match against Jazz and Trish Stratus. However, she could not win the match. Her love triangle storyline with Kane and Matt Hardy in 2004 was pretty interesting. She won her second women’s championship from Trish Stratus on December 6, 2004. She turned heel for the first time career in 2005 as she betrayed Kane in the Gold Rush tournament final and paired with Edge. She never turned face after that. She won her third women’s championship as she defeated Mickie James on August 14, 2006. On November 5, 2006, she won her fourth and final women’s championship by defeating Mickie James for the vacated championship. She announced her final match on Survivor Series 2006. She lost the championship Mickie James at Survivor Series and retired. She currently works on the independent circuit as a part timer and runs a rock band called the Luchagors. With no doubt, Lita is one of the best female wrestlers in the history of professional wrestling. She has missed a lot by her fans.
