WWE started Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal back in 2014. WrestleMania 30 was the first official event of WWE to feature the match type. The first match got a good hype before the event took place everything thought Cesaro might be the next big thing in WWE after he won the match.

But Cesaro never got any big push since then. In fact, none of the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal winner except Braun Strowman achieved anything special. The only point of the argument is Baron Corbin who got some recognition after winning Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal in 2016.

Does Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal Have Any Value?

Braun Strowman might have had great success but does that really have to do anything with his Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal win? What impact did this win make for his career? The answer is nothing. Braun would have had all the success he achieved so far even if the match never took place.

And talking about the other winners, the match had no impact at all on their careers whatsoever. We already talked about Cesaro. Big Show won the match the following year who is a WWE legend and had nothing remaining to achieve more. Baron Corbin was the only man who achieved some success after winning the match. The following two years gave us winners like Mojo Rowley and Matt Hardy. One of them is in AEW right now and nobody knows what happened to the other one. And about Braun Strowman, we talked about him already.

With all these discussions, it is pretty much clear that this match has no value at all. Then why WWE arrange this match every year at WrestleMania (it did not take place last year though, but will be booked this year again)? WWE loves this match so much that they have started a similar match for women as well.

The only point of organizing Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal is to give all wrestlers a chance to perform at WrestleMania. We appreciate this idea, giving ring time to all wrestlers at their biggest event is seriously a good approach. But they should make it a little valuable. They can make something like giving an opportunity to the winner to get a title opportunity at any event he wishes, which should not be very similar to Money in the Bank. They can do it for the mid-card titles, or something similar. They can use this match to promote new talents too as they did in Baron Corbin’s case.

Moreover, it has to mean something. Battle Royal matches are always fun to see, but with such hype for a match, it should not be valueless like it is right now.
