WWE Raw star and a former WWE SmackDown Tag Team Champion Dominik Mysterio who is also a member of the Judgment Day faction recently looked back at his custody storyline from 2005 involving his father Rey Mysterio and revealed that he was a paid to work in this storyline.

The Custody of Dominik is considered as one of the weirdest storylines in WWE history. It was a part of the long going Rey Mysterio vs. Eddie Guerrero feud. During the feud, Eddie claimed that he was the biological father of Dominik and at the SummerSlam pay per view event of the mentioned year, the duo had a match over the custody of Dominik.

Dominik Mysterio Remembers His Custody Storyline And Reveals He Was Paid To Do It

It was not just another normal match, but a Ladder match and ultimately it was won by Rey Mysterio. This was the storyline that introduced us to Dominik Mysterio who was only eight year old back then. Even at a very young age he did a very good job.

Dominik later appeared on WWE television but from 2019, he started working as a professional wrestler in the promotion. At first he worked alongside his father as tag team partners, but last year at the Clash at the Castle pay per view event, he turned on his own father to turn heel. Since then he had been doing pretty well. Surely, he has a great future lying ahead of himself in WWE.

Dominik Mysterio who is also a member of the Judgment Day faction recently spoke to the Cheap Heat program where he looked back at his custody storyline from 2005 involving his father Rey Mysterio and revealed that he was a paid to work in this storyline. He said;

“I’ll tell you one thing (about SummerSlam 2005), I definitely don’t remember Eddie (Guerrero) prepping me for how intense he was gonna be. That kind of just came in organically. But that’s just Eddie being Eddie. I remember being in the corner at SummerSlam and him just yelling at me like, ‘You’re gonna know what it means to be a Guerrero!’

“And then his hand comes up and as a kid, I’ve said it before, as a kid, I thought that he was genuinely gonna hit me and like, something was gonna happen because dude, it was so intense. The look in his eyes, his veins popping out and he was just jacked to the gills and yelling at me, me having nowhere to go, just sitting back in this corner.

“That’s what got me to do the whole spiel (that I was getting paid for the WWE SummerSlam 2005 appearance) … My dad was like, ‘Hey, we want you to do this thing, if you’re okay with it’ and at the time, I was unsure about it and I was like, I don’t know if I wanna do this.

“I was in school, I didn’t wanna — not that I enjoyed school but I enjoyed being with my friends at school… So as soon as he was like, ‘They’re gonna pay you for it,’ I was like, ‘Mhm, alright. Now we’re speaking my language…’ I was like seven or eight. But even then, I understood the business.”
