When he was signed for WWE in 2009, Vince McMahon wanted to push him from the very first day. But slowly it was understood that he was not ready for any event push. When he made his return to WWE in 2017, he was pretty much ready for what WWE intended for him previously.

After spending some time in the NXT, he came to the main roster and he was ready for the main event run that was planned for him long ago. Keep first WWE world championship win came at WrestleMania 36 last year. But the Momentum could not be celebrated or enjoyed much since even took place behind closed doors.

It was not very easy for him to get to this situation. He had to win the Royal Rumble match before which was an amazing match. The Royal Rumble match of 2020 was remembered for a lot of things. First the dominance of Brock Lesnar and setting a new record of 13 eliminations, then the shocking return of Edge. I am the match was ultimately won by Drew.

“That was me feeling the moment 100 percent [talking into the camera after WrestleMania 36]. We actually pre-recorded WrestleMania the week prior so I was watching it with the rest of the world and I honestly thought it was going to get edited so I imagined — I remember what I did kind of.

“I was, okay, I had the title, I was kind of lost in my little moment for a second and they’ll probably cut to me going to the top rope and doing my pose with the title, but they kept it in there.

“It was such a real moment that they even said, ‘There’s no way we’re going to lose that’ because it was 100 percent feeling the moment, 100 percent real and hopefully we touch people around the world because I couldn’t have been any more sincere when I thanked them and it’s so cool I get to see that get replayed all the time and people send me the GIF all the time.”
