WWE SmackDown star and a former two times WWE world champion Drew McIntyre who is also a former two times WWE Tag Team Champion recently said that the two world titles that are currently being carried by Roman Reigns should be separated in WWE and explained why he thought so.
Roman Reigns won both the World Championships at WrestleMania 38 after he defeated Brock Lesnar in a Championship unification match. It was quite clear that WWE had no plans to continue the brand split after this. Soon after unifying the world championships they unified the Tag Team championships too. There are rumours that the Women’s championships will be unified soon as well.
Drew McIntyre Explains Why World Titles Should Be Separated
But most of the fans did not like this decision since there are not enough opportunities for the wrestlers since the titles are getting unified. WWE seems more like a Roman Reigns show these days, a show which only takes the responsibility of pushing Roman Reigns and no one else.
The Usos are carrying the Tag Team championships just because there in the Bloodline, and after the tag titles got unified, there is no opportunity for other tag teams to shine since they do not care about others. This obsession with Roman Reigns is slowly killing WWE.
After Triple H took over WWE as the Head of Creative, everybody thought this might be the time that Roman finally drops at least one Championship. But after Clash at the Castle, it is pretty much guaranteed that he will not lose the championships anytime soon. It is also rumoured that Vince McMahon personally requested Triple H to keep Roman Reigns as the champion till WrestleMania 39. If this is true, we seriously hope WWE gets better after WrestleMania 39.
Drew McIntyre who is also a former two times WWE Tag Team Champion recently spoke to Inside The Ropes’ Alex McCarthy where he said that the two world titles that are currently being carried by Roman Reigns should be separated in WWE and explained why he thought so. He said;
“I mean, there’s no talk to me about any plan whatsoever. That’s the truth and generally, I don’t like to find out until last minute because things change so much anyway. But you know, splitting the titles may not be a bad thing if it’s possible. I’ve been saying it constantly on TV and in the media, I do believe the titles deserve to be represented in [an] appropriate manner, which means being on the show.”
“When they’re both together, they can’t be on both shows. The weekend live events, the media interviews right now, the title should be represented, should be very visible that there’s a certain honour and prestige to those titles, and it used to be defended every 30 days and we’ve lost that somewhere along the line.
“And they’re fine right now, they’re on a huge star like Roman Reigns but at the same time, I do believe they need to be on the show. And there’s more emphasis on wrestling right now. It needs to have the champion wrestling.”
