Professional wrestling legend and two times WWE Hall of Famer Ric Flair who is a 16 times World Champion as recognized by WWE recently talked about the Universal championship match between Roman Reigns and Drew McIntyre at Clash at the Castle and explained why McIntyre losing was the right decision.
Roman Reigns vs. Drew McIntyre was booked at Clash at the Castle and it was for the WWE Universal Heavyweight Championship. For a lot of people it was quite unpredictable since the event was taking place at Europe and fans expected that Drew would have a home advantage. For the first time in all the title defences of Roman Reigns, this has been an unpredictable match.

Ric Flair Thinks Drew McIntyre Losing At Clash At The Castle Was The Right Decision
This had been the best chance to finally take the World Championship away from Roman Reigns. His two year long World Championship reign might have been really dominant but it had been really predictable throughout. And he was not even defending his Championship regularly either. A lot of fans were bored with his Championship reign and they had been looking for a new champion.
But after Drew lost to Roman Reigns, yet again, a lot of fans were really disappointed. After they have merged the World Championships, there is a very little scope to promote more main event stars. Ultimately everyone has to job to Roman Reigns, who doesn’t even defend the Championship regularly. WWE is very much a Roman Reigns show right now.

A lot of fans were requesting WWE to split the Championship, so that at least one World Championship remains open for other wrestlers since one is exclusive to Roman Reigns. At least there would be opportunity to build more World Champions for the future. But now it looks like WWE has no plans to split the World Championships. WWE is all about Roman Reigns right now.
Ric Flair who is a 16 times World Champion as recognised by WWE recently spoke on his To Be The Man podcast where he talked about the Universal championship match between Roman Reigns and Drew McIntyre at Clash at the Castle and explained why McIntyre losing was the right decision. He said;

“It’s not that Drew didn’t deserve to win but if you’re gonna get eventually if that’s the plan, which we all hope it is and I’m sure the company hopes it is. I’m assuming the company, never hope or assume anything, but if the plan is The Rock and Roman I just think the words ‘Heavyweight Championship’ are very important in that match.”
“And I think taking the belt off Roman and taking nothing away from Drew, Drew could very easily carry it and be a good champion as well. But the big match for the company, maybe one of the biggest of all time, obviously is Rock, if he elects to do that and Roman. So the way they did it didn’t hurt Drew at all. And Drew, you know, he’s always gonna be great.”
