The Greatest Wrestling Match Ever billed at Backlash between Randy Orton and WWE Hall of Famer Edge lived up to the hypes due to the performances delivered by the two veteran in-ring performers. They did their best and in the end, it was Orton who outsmarted his opponent with a low blow and then following it up with a Punt Kick.
But the big news coming out of the match was that Edge was taken out of commission by The Viper. As informed by WWE, the Rated R Superstar tore his triceps during that match and had to undergo surgery, right away. As a result, he won’t be seen in action for a long time, perhaps. Now we received more details about the injury.
Edge Addresses Controversy From WWE’s Greatest Wrestling Match Ever
As part of his promotion for the new movie “Money Plane”, Edge had a reuniting session with fellow WWE Hall of Famer, Booker T on his podcast named The Hall of Fame. Edge revealed exactly when he knew he tore his triceps during his match against Randy Orton at Backlash.
“We’re doing this match. We’re having a blast. We got a cue at one point. I think it was 35 minutes. I was like whoa. Alright. I’m doing great. This is awesome. I did a springboard into the second RKO, and I went oh, I got the cold sweats. I feel like I’m gonna throw up. That’s usually a sign. That’s where it popped. I think I got a little bit more in the tank to finish this out, and then we got it finished,” Edge said.
The Master Manipulator stated that he felt something once the match was over. He actually went into the match with his triceps partially torn. Edge also noted that his elbow would give him trouble while doing chest and triceps workouts, prior to the match.

“We tried to do a couple little pick-up shots to see how those would feel,” Edge added. “Maybe try to add a different element to the match, and I didn’t like them, but we were just trying something different. I got to the back. I was like, I think something happened to my triceps. I don’t think it’s complete, but it feels like something.” (Quotes courtesy wrestlingINC.com)
Booker T pointed out that if his body was telling something. Edge said that this injury would be a learning lesson for him. He’d be aware of encountering a similar situation, next time around. He was rather glad that his triceps did not fully tear early in the match. This allowed him to finish it despite already competing in it for more than 40 minutes.
