Edge has been absent from WWE TV since WrestleMania 37 where he and Daniel Bryan had a failed attempt to capture the Universal Title from Roman Reigns. But now he is coming back, a month from now. He previously signed a limited schedule for his return, but most of those past appearances happened in front of zero fans. But that could certainly change starting from July.
WWE has recently announced that the Rated-R Superstar will be returning on the July 16th episode of SmackDown, the first weekly WWE TV show with fans in attendance ever since the COVID-19 pandemic began. Alongside, multiple other top superstars including Sasha Banks and John Cena are also expected to make a return on that particular night.

Now, The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reported that Edge’s return to the blue brand seems to be prepping him up for a SummerSlam match as well,
“Since Edge is billed to return on the Houston Smackdown, and there is talk about bringing back big names, his wrestling at SummerSlam seems to add up.”

Edge’s due match with Roman Reigns may not happen at Summerslam
No update was given on who the Hall of Famer might end up facing at the biggest party of the summer. There were rumors that Edge might feud with Roman Reigns once again when he returns for the Universal Title, and have the much-anticipated singles match with him (the original main-event for WrestleMania 37). But it seems that match could have been scrapped out as WWE is planning Roman Reigns vs. John Cena at SummerSlam 2021.
When Edge first signed his new WWE contract in late 2019, it was reported that he would make $3 million a year who will be paid in full as long as he wrestles, at least three matches per year. He’s also reportedly scheduled to make 25 appearances on WWE television.
But now, the belief is that Edge might have renewed that deal to get it heavier deal as he has made a lot of television episodes leading up to Wrestlemania 37 who even showed up in NXT. As noted above, he was last seen in WWE on April 11, in the main event of WrestleMania 37 Night Two along with Roman Reigns and Daniel Bryan. Only time will tell, what WWE will have in-store for him upon comeback.
