Roman Reigns will defend his WWE Universal Championship at the upcoming premium live event Elimination Chamber 2022. As reported earlier, Goldberg will be his next challenger during this ongoing record-breaking title reign. The WWE Hall of Famer made his return to Smackdown during the post-Royal Rumble edition to make things official.
SmackDown opened with The Bloodline (WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns, SmackDown Tag Team Champions The Usos, Paul Heyman) coming to the ring. Heyman explained why he turned on Brock Lesnar at Royal Rumble 2022 while he also praised Reigns. Heyman then called on Oklahoma City to acknowledge Reigns. It was at this moment when Goldberg’s music hit and he came out in a huge pop.

Goldberg stated that he acknowledges Reigns but only as his next victim. He then proposed a championship match between the two at WWE Elimination Chamber 2022. He finished his promo with his signature line that Reigns is next.
The former Universal Champion then dropped the mic and had a brief staredown with Reigns before leaving as his music started back up. The Bloodline seethed in the ring while Reigns made his exit to cheers from the crowd.

Following this segment, Goldberg vs. Reigns was officially announced for WWE Elimination Chamber 2022 in Saudi Arabia, with the latter’s title on the line.
Reigns is already scheduled to defend his title against Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 38 but in order to let that match happen, Reigns will have to go through a successful title defense at the PPV set for later this month. Lesnar is also slated to participate in the WWE Title Chamber match with five other Raw superstars including the champion Bobby Lashley at the PPV.
