Zelina Vega made some headlines over the year 2021 for different reasons. She was not a part of the company when last year began after getting released by the company in late 2020 for going beyond WWE’s third-party policies. But then the company hired her in a contract in the summer which marked the beginning of the brightest phase of her career.
Zelina Vega proceeded to become Queen Zelina in October 2021. In the finals of WWE’s inaugural Queen’s Crown Tournament that was held at Crown Jewel in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia Vega defeated Doudrop to earn the accolade. She was officially crowned as Queen Zelina with her robe, crown, and scepter on the stage who also posed on her throne. This probably made her the way to accomplish some more first-ever accomplishments, down the road.
WWE Hall Of Famer Lita Thinks AEW Wasn’t A Right Fit For Her
The official The Queen of WWE, Zelina Vega, recently sat down with Mike Jones of DC101 to talk about winning WWE’s Queen’s Crown Tournament in Saudi Arabia in late October. The victory made her the first-ever woman to be crowned as a Queen in the WWE. She’s obviously thankful to the company to have achieved that honor that elevated her career as an in-ring performer.
Following that win, she quickly proceeded to win the Women’s Tag Team Championships with Carmella. This makes her the first-ever Queen’s Crown winner to capture the female tag title. Now, she’s focused on becoming the highest possession on the red brand, that’s the Raw Women’s Title.
Zelina Vega wants to achieve a major milestone in WWE
“I get to have something just for me,” Zelina Vega said. “Carmella gets to have the first-ever Money In The Bank. The first-ever tag champions being, you know, Bayley and Sasha. There are different people for different things. Asuka, the first Women’s Royal Rumble winner. But now, for me, I get to be the first-ever Queen. It’s just one other thing that you get to have in your back pocket and go ‘this is amazing that I actually did this and I’m keeping it for life. Not just while I’m in WWE, but for the rest of my life.’”
“When it goes into the history books, I’m the first Queen, I’m the official Queen. So when you look at this, I’m not only the first Queen, I’m also the first Queen that’s also the Women’s Tag Team Champion! So now I want to go forward and make history again. I want to be the first-ever Queen that’s also RAW Women’s Champion.” (quotes courtesy Wrestling INC)
Only a few months ago, such dreams would be unachievable for Zelina Vega but things have changed after she had ended up having a roller-coaster year. She firmly believes that good times have only just begun for her. Hopefully, WWE would continue to keep the push ongoing for her to churn out another top superstar in her.
