Former WWE star Aleister Black is officially All Elite as she joined AEW on this week’s episode of AEW Dynamite on TNT. During the opening match between Cody Rhodes and QT Marshall, the lights in the arena went off briefly but they were eventually back.

Later on in the show during an interview segment with Arn Anderson and Cody Rhodes, the lights went out again. As they came back, Aleister Black was found standing in the ring who nailed Anderson with a roundhouse kick, known as the Black Mass in WWE.

Black proceeded to deliver another Black Mass kick to Cody as well. The debutant was originally referred to as Tommy End by Jim Ross but then Excalibur billed him as Malakai Black. The similar name was introduced in an Instagram video, earlier in the day.

Aleister Black was released by WWE in early June due to the COVID-19 related budget cuts. Shortly after his release, it was rumored that he was expected to sign with AEW. There have also been some talks within the WWE officials about bringing him back. Those speculations grew strong as his wife Zelina Vega was re-hired by WWE who returned on this past week’s Smackdown.

But ultimately, Aleister Black joined WWE’s rival brand, All Elite Wrestling which led to a major surprise from the professional wrestling fans. He was able to sign with a different promotion within just one month which raised the eyebrows of many. Apparently, the deal could have happened, owing to a contract dispute from WWE.

Aleister Black was able to appear in AEW so quickly due to a clerical error, according to PWInsider. When he was moved from NXT to the main roster a couple of years back, WWE didn’t update his contract from the standard 30-day non-compete clause that NXT stars typically have. So he didn’t have the 90-day no-compete clause like the main roster releases,

“So, what can only be described as a bad clerical error allowed him to be free and clear in time for the first episode of AEW Dynamite on the road and surprise everyone.”

Zelina Vega also reacted to this huge debut of her husband in AEW as she dropped a couple of tweets without mentioning him, directly.
