As much as it sounds surprising but WWE Hall of Famer Edge came up short in his ‘I Quit’ Match against Finn Balor at Extreme Rules 2022. In his illustrious career, the Rated-R Superstar was forced to say “I Quit” for the first time during the premium live event as his wife cum another WWE Hall of Famer decided to get involved in the mix.

It was Edge who made his way out to the ring, first at Extreme Rules 2022 followed by the Judgment Day leader Finn Balor. Balor then came out with a mask all by himself but removed it before the match. Edge was dominating Balor in the initial sequences but Judgment Day’s Damian Priest and Dominik Mysterio eventually interfered and attacked him. Afterward, Rhea Ripley handcuffed Edge to the top ring rope.

Finn started assaulting Edge with a Kendo Stick but Rey Mysterio came out with a Steel Chair in hand. He took out Priest and Balor but Dominik took out his father Rey, in turn. Balor was back to attacking Edge with a Kendo Stick when Edge’s wife, WWE Hall of Famer Beth Phoenix entered the ring at Extreme Rules 2022, took Kendo Stick away from Balor, and began assaulting Judgment Day members.

Number game caught up to Edge at Extreme Rules 2022

Edge was close to securing the victory at Extreme Rules 2022 after locking in the Edge-ucator on his opponent’s left leg with the chair. Just when it seems that Balor was preparing to say the words “I Quit,” Damian Priest came running down to rescue his Judgment Day stablemate. Dominik Mysterio also helped but Edge fought off the numbers all on his own.

However, Ripley nailed Phoenix with brass knuckles, and the distraction allowed Priest to hit the South of Heaven Chokeslam on Edge, and Balor followed it up with three consecutive Coup de Graces on the Rated-R Superstar.

Edge still refused to utter the words “I Quit,” Ripley grabbed two chairs and prepared to hit Phoenix with a Con-Chair-To when Edge had no option but to say those words to end the match as Balor was declared the winner of the bout at Extreme Rules 2022.

However, Ripley smashed Phoenix with a Con-Chair-To move, anyway, forcing the medical team to check on the former WWE Women’s Champion. Down the road, the sequence will lead to a singles bout between Ripley and Phoenix. Furthermore, Edge’s rivalry with Judgment Day is far from over following Extreme Rules 2022.
