Triple H is working as the Chief Content Officer of WWE and he still makes the final call before most of the creative decisions. His work was loved by a lot of fans but he received criticism from a number of fans too. Over the months he has improved a lot of things in WWE but made some bad decisions as well.

He had been working as the Head of Creative for more than a year now and he has lifted some prolific talents in this time period. But he has buried some stars as well. Last night on SmackDown, Austin Theory was challenged by Rey Mysterio where he also put his title on the line.

Game Over? Triple H’s Role in Burying Another Top Performer

Rey Mysterio defeated Austin Theory in this match to win the WWE United States championship for the third time. Seeing Rey Mysterio winning the title was really a treat to the eyes. But the way he won was not something that should have happened. This terrible decision might potentially bury Austin Theory.

He was carrying the United States title for more than 250 days, he deserved at least a proper feud or a decent match before dropping the title. But the match was made all of a sudden and it took only 3 minutes for Rey Mysterio to beat him. This might be a potential burial to one of the longest reigning United States champions in WWE history.

Austin Theory Dropped His United States Title Last Night On Smackdown

But why did Triple H do it? He never had any big plans for Austin Theory. After the terrible cash in incident of Money in the Bank, he was widely criticized for burying Theory. But he quickly corrected his mistake. Now it looks like he wants to bury him once again. Theory was once asked if he had the fear of getting buried in WWE while talking to the Babyfaces Podcast. He answered;

“You know, I remember a time that the internet said, ‘Man, this guy, he’s getting buried. He loses every match.’ When was the last time I lost a match? And people still have something to say now. As long as there’s something said, I’m doing what I need to do. But if there’s nothing being said, then there’s a worry there because people say your name for a reason whether it’s good or bad.”

There is another theory that WWE wants to unify the United States championship and the NXT North American Championship. If this is the decision, it would be a historical mistake. NXT is finally gaining some success. This would potentially kill the momentum of the show. But again, we still believe this is not the end of Austin Theory, even after the terrible booking he received last night on SmackDown.
