Gene Snitsky Reveals How He Almost Won The WWE Tag Team Championship

Ultimately the feud was won by Kane but it looked like Snitsky would be having an excellent future in WWE. But somehow Snitskey lost his push. It seemed like WWE would build him as a monster heel, he was a monster heel, just was not pushed enough, not even on the mid card level.

In 2008 he was released from WWE and he joined the independent circuit. He is meant a total of 10 years on the independent circuit and won a number of Championships from various indie promotions. He had a short run in TNA Wrestling as well. In 2018, he announced his retirement from the world of professional wrestling.

Snitsky had really high potential in the ring when he worked in WWE and when he received push from a wrestler like Kane on his early career, it’s really look believable that WWE had big plans for him. But much like most of the wrestlers who received pushes from Kane, Snitskey could not do much in WWE either.

Gene Snitsky who is also a former LCW Heavyweight champion recently spoke to Mike Chioda’s Monday Mailbag where he looked back at almost winning the WWE Tag Team Championship along with Goldust and how the plans were scrapped. He said;

“We were supposed to get the tag team straps when I was teaming with Goldust, and then he had a meltdown and that went by the wayside. They were going to do merch [merchandise]. We had a meeting with Stephanie (McMahon), they were going to do merch and all kind of stuff, and we were going to win the straps.

“Then, he calls me, leaves a voice message just going off the deep end. Obviously, he needed to get some help and get cleaned up. I can’t fault him for that, but we were supposed to win the tag team belts.”
