In this one year time he became a fan favourite in WWE. He won the World Heavyweight Championship one time and he had a number of feuds with some of the biggest names of WWE back in that time including the likes of Triple H, Chris Jericho and Brock Lesnar. At Wrestlemania XX, he wrestled in his last professional wrestling match against Brock Lesnar and after that he remained out of action for nearly 13 years.

In late 2016 he made his return to professional wrestling once again holding the hands of the WWE. His first return match was against his real life friend Brock Lesnar at the Survivor Series pay per view event of the mentioned year.
Since then he had been treated as a main event star who only appeared in special occasions in WWE and he also won the WWE Universal Heavyweight Championship two times in total. He still has won match left in his current contract which is likely to take place at WrestleMania 38. There is a rumour that WWE may give him another contract after the current contract expires.

Goldberg who is a former three times World Champion in WWE and a former WCW World Heavyweight Champion recently spoke to Sports Illustrated where he talked about another potential run with WWE. He said;
“I’m focused on what’s next. If they want to come back to me with something, we’ll talk. You never know what the future holds.
“There is one thing I wanted to do differently. I wanted the cattle prod to be a different one. I wanted it to be the one that shot out and stuck into you and lit you up. I was told no, we couldn’t do that. Maybe I was being unrealistic, but I thought that was going to be the coolest thing ever.”
