There have been some speculations about Goldberg’s career in the WWE given he’s surpassed his prime, long ago. The fact that he’s still wrestling in his mid-50s, makes some of the fans irate. It appears that WWE is well aware of the fact and they haven’t renewed the contract of the legend. As a result, the legendary name is left with only one match in his contract with the biggest professional wrestling promotion.

As reported earlier this year, Goldberg was open about that his WWE contract getting ended through 2023. The deal was also revealed to call for two matches per year. Per that deal, he lost to the former WWE Champion Drew McIntyre at the Royal Rumble 2021 in January, and then took another loss to another former WWE Champion Bobby Lashley at SummerSlam in August.

Both these bouts took place over the WWE Championships which already ran out of Goldberg’s match-quota for a calendar year. But then WWE announced him in the No Holds Barred Falls Count Anywhere match at Crown Jewel in Saudi Arabia against Bobby Lashley. There was speculation on a special contract being signed for this Saudi Arabia appearance, or WWE possibly re-arranging the contract.

But in reality, WWE used one of those two 2022 matches for Crown Jewel 2021. Goldberg spoke with Ring Rules while being in the Kingdom for Crown Jewel, last month and he revealed during the conversation that he has just one more match left on his contract.

“I still feel as though I can wrestle, I still feel as though I can entertain,” the former WCW franchise player said of his WWE future. “After this match I have one more match on my contract, and that’s it. We’ll see what happens, you never know.”

Goldberg will turn 55 at the end of December who also commented on possibly teaming with his son Gage to take on the team of another father-son duo in Dominik and Rey Mysterio.

“Oh you never know, you never know what the next day brings,” he said. “So if people want that, we’ll see if we can give them what they want. You never know.”

As of now, there’s no update regarding WWE possibly bringing back Goldberg for next year’s Rumble or Mania season.
